    Expecting Baby No 1 - 20/06/14 - Team Yellow!
  • Hi ladies.

Sorry I've been AWOL for so long. We moved house last week and have only just got our internet back. I've been reading and lurking at work on my breaks (sssshhhhh! Naughty!) but I daren't log in to post.

Congrats on your scans Bumblebee and Aquamarinemonkey.

Gemma I booked on an NCT at around 15 weeks I think, I was scared it'd sell out. The midwife has asked that as we will be doing NCT that we don't attend the NHS course as they're oversubscribed already. I don't mind as I was worried about feeling like an old woman on the NHS one but I hope it'll be less of an issue with NCT.

AFM, I can feel baby moving around quite a bit now. Usually just in the evenings when I'm sitting or lying quietly, but also sometimes when I'm driving or just at my desk.

We've booked a babybond gender scan for the weekend. Our 20 week scan isn't till next week but we're both set on finding out the gender and wanted a second opinion (paranoia much!) so I'm excited about that.

We've decided which room baby will have in our new house and chosen a colour. After the 20 week scan we can start preparing. Eeek!

  • Hi wangdoodle, I hope the move went well? Great that it's all sorted now, and you can begin to plan and decorate :)

AFM, midwife appointment was fine. She didn't quite see the point of weighing me again (consultants request) but I am now officially 3kg lower than at my booking appointment. (By my scales, minus clothes nearer 5kg).

    My BP Normal!!! Something/60! :j
It was lovely to hear baby's heartbeat again. And she gave me a stack of magazines to read. Next appointment in a month. Would have been 3 weeks but I'm on a course then.

She isn't worried I've not felt too much movement (flutters & a few kicks). She thinks my 1 off odd discharge isn't anything to worry about. And I'm now given the ok to "resume martial relationships"!! :o:A

Am I crazy that I still can't quite believe there's a baby inside me! :o :rotfl:

  • Hi Everyone,

Sorry not posted since I joined this thread. Congratulations on the fab scans people have had recently. Glad everything's going well.

I'm 15 + 4 today and everything has worn off now. No sickness, my skins started to clear up, generally feel human again but so here comes the panic I'm not pregnant anymore. Does/did anyone else feel like this? I haven't had a bleed or anything just don't feel pregnant anymore if you know what I mean? I've got my 16 week midwife appointment next week.

I have been looking into prams, nursery stuff etc but not bought anything yet.

    Hope everyone is well.
  • Congrats on your scan MrsMuffin can't wait for ours now!

Hi Disney, yeah that sounds familiar. I felt much better around 14 weeks, no nausea, much more energy etc. I didn't feel pregnant at all for a couple of weeks. I got to hear baby's heart beat at my 16 week appointment and that really reassured me, and not long after I started to feel baby move and my bump started plumping out a bit so I feel rather pregnant again now! Try not to worry too much x

Looks like im moving to this thread now, just got back from my scan and im 12 weeks 6 days due 4th September (but born around 28th August as I have to have a C section).

Having a terrible pregnancy im convinced I have a condition called hyperemesis gravidarum, I have spent the last 7 weeks on the sofa, I cant stand for more than a minute without vomiting or passing out and i cant hold down food n barely any fluid. I constantly feel sick and dizzy like the room is spinning and since by booking in appt 4 weeks ago I have lost a stone in weight, im only urinating twice a day n very dark because i cant hold fluid down just small sips n everything smells so stroong n awful. I almost passed out today at the scan and they tested my urine but said it cant be hyperemesis gravidarum as there is no ketone (or something) in my urine. I just hope this passes soon, this is way more than morning sickness and really affecting my life, just wanna enjoy being pregnant :(
  • My amazing friend sent me a fetal heart detector, I picked it up from the post office today.

It took me two attempts and nearly the whole tube of gel, but I found the heart heat- what an amazing sound. I am so excited about OH listening when he gets home, he has missed all my scan appointments so far.

It's like a fast, rythmic swooshing sound :j
  • Teabag - I'm dropping in from the main pregnancy thread. It sounds like you have hyperemesis. I had it for 3 months and was off work for all that time. You get ketones in your urine when you are severely dehydrated, that's when you get admitted to hospital for iv fluids. Get in touch with your doctor and ask for medication, it doesn't hurt the baby and will help you. Also look at https://www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk. They have loads of advice and info on the site.

I found ice pops really helpful to get fluid in, tiny sips of water, and flat lemonade for a sugar boost. It was hell at the time but it does get better, I promise.
  • yeah I can definitely see what you mean about doing 8 hour shifts with the travelling time! I'm lucky in that I live 5 minutes away from my office, I work in the community but the furthest away place I go is 25 minutes! I actually owe hours at the moment due to lots of people cancelling visits over Christmas so not my fault but I still have to make them up! so I did 45 hours last week and I'll be doing 45 hours this week and I still won't be up to date. frustrating really :( good thinking about the discharge, I didn't think of that.

ahh the life of a shift worker! x

yikes 45 hours poor you !! i only do 36 hours a week, and i never do 3 shifts in a row. I will also be able to work for 1 hour less a day, paid the same for my last 2 months at work. The French may talk funny but they do look after their pregnant ladies !
