So sorry to hear that sloth and lily. I had what they think may have been a chemical pregnancy and it took me a while to get over it. Look after yourselves xxxMFW 2016 No 68 £1300/£8500 No new toiletries Cook sth different0

Hi ladies, me again....
So it turns out I have poor egg quality at the ripe old age of 31, together with low amh !!!128557;!!!128557;!!!128557;
I wondered how long you waited before going onto 2nd ivf? FC says ok to start at my next cycle which is due in a few days time but unsure whether I should perhaps change my diet for a few months before trying again. I read online some people had to wait 3 months?
I have an appt with NHS at the end of next month (1st round cost over £10k so we probably could only afford 1 more private round), no doubt waiting times will be well over a year with NHS...
Love to you all xxx0 -
Hi we had to wait 3 months between IVF cycles, this was on the NHS.
Do you havw any frozen embryos? If you're starting a fresh cycle again you may want to give your body a rest. But obviously do whatever you feel is best. Hope that you're keeping well xxxMFW 2016 No 68 £1300/£8500 No new toiletries Cook sth different0 -
*peeks back in*
Hi all - some of you might remember me from when I was active on this thread a few years ago. We have unexplained infertility, IVF in 2014 didn't work. We're still trying but slowly moving towards a future without children. Huge hugs and wishes of luck to everyone currently or soon to be in treatment.
Anyway, popping back because I've read this fascinating article today: https://theconversation.com/infertility-through-the-ages-and-how-ivf-changed-the-way-we-think-about-it-87128
There's loads in it, but one thing that really struck me was how the new availability of contraception in the 1960s meant we were all told that we had control over our fertility. "Have a baby when you want now!" The message that sometimes it's still totally out of our hands got lost, and people before that still struggled but were often more fatalistic ("wasn't meant to be").
Sharing in case it helps anyone. If you're in the depths of treatment it might be an upset trigger - it talks negatively about IVF success rates so just remember that it still means it works for a lot of people.0 -
Thank you pinkteapot, was a great read and definately agree that they don't talk about the possible difficulties in the future after trying so hard to prevent pregnancy in the younger years. Also do agree with the stigma of not being able to get pregnant.
Ladies, I am feeling so down. Tried to be optimistic thinking this month might be the month after failed ivf, only for the lovely AF to rear its ugly head. I was so hoping to be a mum before 30 but little did I know, its a lot harder to conceive. Its over 3 years ttc. I really don't think we will ever have children of our own & I'm currently contemplating whether to use donor eggs or adopt. OH unfortunately doesn't agree although our statistics of never getting one BPF, are against us.
None made to freezing unfortunately. We are gonna wait until next AF to allow my body rest from the drugs before trying second round, thanks skaps. Hope you are well x0 -
Oh, Lily.
There's nothing I can say to make that pain easier but there are a lot of us here who understand how you're feeling. Every 'milestone' birthday becomes a nightmare (let's face it - infertility just ruins your birthday for you every year!) and makes you think about it even more. Hugs for AF time. Treat yourself to something that brings some measure of comfort and have a cuddle on the sofa with OH. It gets so hard when you reach the point of contemplating alternatives at different times.

Hi all.
I introduced myself on this thread a few months ago before initial consultation for fertility treatment. Have been occasionally lurking since as not much has been happening for me, just waiting for appointments for next steps etc.
Sorry to hear your sad news Lily_Rose and slothsocks. I haven't been in that situation yet so I can't say I know how you're feeling but just want to say hope you can take as much time as you need to heal and become positive for the next steps.
For me, I'm planning to start 1st treatment in August. I'm receiving the endometrial scratch procedure in July as part of a research trial to assess whether it has an effect on pregnancy rates in women undergoing IVF for the first time. Has anyone ever had the endometrial scratch? I hadn't heard about it until the FC mentioned the trial.0 -
kate5555, when I had my hysteroscopy at the end of Feb I had an endometrial scratch, not sure how much it helped as I had ET at the end of March.
If AF arrives this month then we should be onto the 2nd IVF next month. Let us know how you get on xxx0 -
Hope the 2nd round goes well next month Lily_Rose. Will keep popping in here to see how everyone is getting on.
August feels like an age away for me to start 1st round but at least I have a date now and it will probably be here before I know it.0 -
Yes Kate August will be here soon. Its good to have a date and something to focus on. XxxMFW 2016 No 68 £1300/£8500 No new toiletries Cook sth different0
