ljaneyr - Giving you a virtual hug x It's such a hard thing to go through and 12 months is no time yet also forever.
The announcement texts are rubbish, especially when it's from that type of person, but don't feel bad about how you feel. I'm not even sure if that feeling is jealousy, you don't want their baby you want your own, I think it's just feeling sad about your own situation. When we lost Ben last year, people thought we were jealous of everyone we know who was lucky enough to be having healthy babies, but we aren't -we just hope they appreciate every second they have as what they have is so special.
Hope the scans went ok and you get the results you want. Moan away, that's what we are here for (and it's probably nothing someone hasn't already moaned about anyway!) x
Pinkteapot - 35 is ok, it's just that stigma that other people put on it, isn't it? I'm 36 next month but I might as well give up according to some people! Happy Birthday for this week to you. Sorry you are having a struggle at the moment, hope some brighter days come soon for you x

    Hi all,

Choc - I am so sorry to hear your news. I am thinking of you x

Skaps and Star - I have my fingers crossed for positive news for you x

pink and ljaneyr - big hugs! I hope you both feel better soon. Sending you some positive vibes.

We have been to our appointment at the clinic yesterday and we are booked in for the nurses consultation on 19th April with the view to start treatment after that.
Over the course of our appointment I have been told 3 times that my age is not on our side - I am 37 in April, so I am feeling very old today. I feel a bit past it.
We have also found out that I will need to be out on the highest dose of hormones because my hormone levels when I am ovulating are boarderline. Guess why?? Yep, my age!!

I feel a bit deflated after our appointment as suddenly I am not so confident anymore that we will have a baby at the end of it. I think reality is sinking in that it probably won't happen on the first attempt and I am not sure if I am ready yet for the heart break.

Anyway, I hope you are all ok otherwise. Let's see if we are getting some snow up north tonight :)

    Speak soon xx

Thanks, girls, and deep apologies if I upset anyone older than me! Just having a maudlin, self-pitying week!!

Tine79 - I would try to go into it with realistic optimism. The reality is that success rates on first cycles are a bit lower than the average, but that's largely because more first cycles than later cycles are abandoned. It's always a bit of a guessing game for them with the drugs, as everyone responds differently. The first cycle can be a learning one. But, that being said, there are still a lot of people who have a text book first cycle, and a decent number of those get their BFP.

I had one cycle and it is hard, emotionally. You've been waiting for it but at the same time you're scared of getting to the end in case it doesn't work! It's a rollercoaster - there's no denying it. All you can do is take one day at a time and try to think ahead as little as possible (though it's impossible not to at all!).

Hi everyone. Hope you don't mind me popping my nose in - I'm in a bit of a no man's land it seems. I'm on 11 months of trying so shouldn't quite be on your thread, but on the other thread people keep coming in and getting a BFP first month which I'm really struggling with.

So just saying hi really and will be floating around to hopefully get some advice on what might happen when we are referred in April.

Hope you're okay skaps and that you've got the result you're hoping for. Sending lots of sticky dust x

To everyone who's struggling, I really feel your pain. We're about to hit the 5 year mark of trying properly and after our second round of IVF this is our first BFP in about 7 years. Hang in there everyone, the taboo nature of infertility sucks and this thread is such a power of support.

Hey cats... Usual welcome: Welcome, but sorry that you find yourself here. :undecided You're very welcome here now - it is so hard when people get their BFPs within a month or two.

Sounds like you're aware already but yes - if you hit 12m then go to your GP and they should refer you for some initial tests that check nothing major is wrong with either of you. Still keeping my fingers crossed that the 12th month is the charm for you. :) x

I have done 2 tests on 2 different days and got BFP's! I'm in shock and am very happy but trying to take it one day at a time especially after getting so excited and having a chemical pregnancy the 1st time. I have contacted the hospital and will be doing tests every few days before the scan. Thank you all for your support. I will be lurking around of that's ok.

Hope things are going well for everyone else. Baby dust and love to all. Xxx
