Welcome Mogwai, really sucks that you find yourself here, but everyone is so lovely it really helps when you're feeling down.

Fairy fingers crossed for good news, when is testing day?

Well I'm still waiting, AF should have shown her face last Monday, but no. Finally did a test Monday morning, no prizes for guessing the result of that... So called my clinic, and a very helpful nurse basically told me I've just got to wait it out, and test again on Monday week, ie 11th May, if nothing happens! Now I know I'm usually a few days over what they expect, but that would take me to 3 weeks late, does that sound like usual practice? I thought they might get a blood test at least. Oh well, at least I'm used to waiting by now!!

With IVF I haven't particularly found it too stressful, just arranging time off work etc can be when people complain about you having holidays as that's the week they have their grandchildren . Wasn't a problem this time around as i was made redundant a couple of weeks beforehand so it's been pretty stress free :D. Obviously as the end of the two week wait approaches/ivf fails then that's stressful. Regarding the pain I have found that the more IVFs I've had the more pain I've felt during the retrieval but again that's because we aren't under a GA at our hospital. I got midazolam this time as well to calm me down a bit as I was already anxious about the pain. You get used to the injections but a few can be quite nippy! Transfer isn't sore just uncomfortable as you need a full bladder, you are cranked wiiiiiiiide open and someone is pushing down on your tummy with the ultrasound scanner and all you want to do is pee!!:eek:

Acupuncture needs at least 3 months to work, I've been going for nearly a year now. I was diagnosed as having a cold uterus so had clotty, dark periods, cramps and spotting before and after. Acu & herbs have helped with that. Also ask around for one that specialises in infertility as my previous acu didn't do half the things the one I go to now does, he is very good! A good book I've got in my Infertility Library (think I have every book going!!!) is The Infertility Cure by Randine Lewis. I got it for a few pounds on eBay. She said that there is no such thing as infertility (unless you have mechanical reasons such as no tubes or uterus) and by changing your diet, adding supplements and using acu can really make the difference. Whether it works or not I'm not sure but I certainly feel better for it. Another book is Making Babies, that's quite a good one too.

Did they test your partner's sperm too or was it just you that got blood tested? Remember they play a part in this too as I had to remind OH at times with his diet, supplements, etc :D

Fairy - I'm keeping everything crossed that this time it's a sticky one, take it easy xx
ET for me will hopefully be this Friday (12.15pm), although we only have the one frostie so I'm hoping it'll defrost okay.

Glad you're feeling a little bit better chocoholic, it probably sounds silly but enjoy your 'normal' month - June 1st will be here before you know it!

Hello mogwai, sorry you find yourself here but I hope you're not here for too long. Pink and fairy are right, Clomid is pretty useless if everything shows that you're ovulating normally but a lot of places do use it as a stalling/box-ticking tactic for 6 months (when all the official advice says they shouldn't!)
The NHS usually say to go and see your doctor if you haven't conceived within a year of trying then they'll refer you for tests to check everything - we had blood tests to check ovulation, a sperm analysis for DH and a HSG for me (which checks the tubes are clear). From that they could tell DH had duff swimmers and I didn't ovulate so I was prescribed 7 months of Clomid. After that didn't work we were referred for IVF and had ICSI treatment because of DH's swimmers. It all depends on what they find (if anything) from all the tests as to which order and what you'll be offered. Fingers crossed you won't need any of that advice though!

Thanks Laura :). My OTD is Sunday 10 May seems forever away as I'm sure you are feeling too if you are the next day.

I've not gone too far back but are you trying au naturalle or is it ivf? 3 weeks overdue does seem quite a long time but I remember my friend saying she didn't test positive until she was around 6 weeks pregnant. You would have thought that they would do a blood test to put your mind at rest. Hopefully you have a late implanter & just taking a while to get the levels up xx

Thanks Frozen, I am definitely taking it easy! I've got OH doing all the housework ;) going out for lunch today as I've got a Groupon voucher needing used for a Turkish Banquet (never had a Turkish meal before so looking forward to that)

Good luck for Friday, I have everything crossed for you too! Just think in 49 hours your little embryo will be inside you and the dreaded 2ww will commence! Xx

  • Thanks Fairy xxx It's a little bit like :j for getting the frostie back (I felt a bit like I'd let him/her down back in September) but also  for the next two weeks. I think the closer it gets to Friday the more I'm feeling like this! _pale_

I know what you mean, the waiting to see if the frostie defrosts well will be stressful. I'm sure it will go fine though :). As my last embryos were 4 cell grade 1s that didn't implant I was really worried that these ones would be the same and spent the 3 days worrying from being told 3 had fertilised until ET day when the embryologist said that one was an 8 cell, I was so relieved I cried. My acu told me that there is no point in worrying about these things as we can't do anything about it and just to concentrate on getting our bodies ready for the embryo, which is true. Take these next couple of days to look after yourself and cook a few meals to freeze for the next few days as you won't be bothered cooking I'm sure :) xx

Fairy I'm on my third clomid cycle, only one more attempt if this doesn't work, I'm not convinced it has but as my friend keeps reminding me, sometimes they are a bit shy so who knows!

Good luck for Friday Frozen, crossing even more fingers, think I need more hands!!

My contraceptive implant expires this month. Now I absolutely can't get pregnant because the poor thing would have no chance with my genetics and drug regime. The clinic want me on a non- hormonal as it will make their life easier if they know my cycle (I've been on implanon for 9 years!).

I'm just so nervous, getting my implant out will make it more real but then I'm just in limbo until someone decides it's time to gear up for egg collection. What if my eggs are rubbish anyway? No ones ever bothered to check that I'm fertile.
