  • Good luck Live. I don't know much about ivf but fingers crossed for a good result. It's nice to have a male voice on here!

Frozen, ouch! Hope you're doing ok.
  • Oh no Frozen. Hope it's not too bad and you get fixed quickly!

Good luck Live'n'learn - 4 happy eggs is great news :)

Hope everyone is ok today, on this grey and nurgh Friday. The next two weeks can't go quick enough, don't know if I've ever needed a holiday quite as much as this one!

Microwave mug cake? I need to know about this!!

Hmmm, I have all those ingredients....

It's great for a cake emergency...

    4 tbsp self raising flour
    4 tbsp caster sugar
    2 tbsp cocoa powder
    1 medium egg
    3 tbsp milk
    3 tbsp vegetable/sunflower oil

I don't put that much oil in (I used candaral instead of sugar, and options hot chocolate as it's all I had)

Use the biggest mug you can (it grows!), stick it all in the mug, stir so it looks cake mixy and then microwave for about 2-3 mins (depending on your microwave)

You can add chocolate chips too....

I googled it after you mentioned it and tried it in a massive mug. It was surprisingly tasty. I also found a recipe that suggests putting a spoonful of peanut butter in and pressing it into the middle of the batter, to make a molten centre cake.

    That sounds good, mmhhh.

It's not the best cake ever, but when you need a quick chocolate / cake hit (which weirdly, I do get quite often!), it definitely hits the spot.
  • Awww FP, sorry to hear your news, hope you feel better soon. Nice the clinic were so understanding.

I make microwave cakes quite a bit, I do a lemon one:

I needed one so just made another. I don't think I'd ever win a Baking contest with one, but I had a chocolate craving and no chocolate and this is doing the job.

If anyone is feeling a bit down, I came across this song whilst aimlessly surfing. It's called "Pregnant Women are Smug" and it made me laugh.

  • Thanks lovely ladies xxx
No op yet unfortunately, my ankle's still too swollen to operate on :-(
I've got a few library books to read in the meantime and I'm on an orthopaedics ward so it's filled with older ladies - and I have to say, they're pretty hilarious! One of them has even scared a few of the younger doctors away with her toyboy fantasies! :-)

When I get home and I'm on me laptop I will reply properly to everyone - but thank you all so much for your best wishes. I've been so impressed by the various messages I've had on social media - they really have made me smile! :-) xxx
