isla - I'm so sorry, look after yourself.
emmaj30 - my down regging drugs will be a proper needle. The stims are a pen. It does vary though - you should have a consultation where they explain everything. When do you start?
Ladies - my drug explanation was a whole ago and I'm having a memory blank. Am I right in thinking that you keep down regging while stimming? I'm sure they said 2-4 weeks of down reg, then you ALSO stim (rather than instead)...0 -
So sorry Isla, hugs to you and your OH, take care of yourself and eat lots of chocolate! xxx
PM - good luck for your scan Monday, hope it's good news xx
emma - like Isla and pink said, it all depends on what drugs you're prescribed. Mine was a nasal spray (Suprecur) for the down-regging bit and a pen (Gonal-F) for the stimms. When are you starting? I can move you up on the list if you like xx
pink - yep, you carry on DR-ing whilst stimming, it's 'as well as' rather than 'instead of'xx
I used this analogy to describe it to my best friend - she couldn't get her head round how the stimming drugs weren't interfering with the DR drugs...
"Think of a tap over a kitchen sink. The tap (your pituary gland) is usually permanently turned on. Someone comes along with a screwdriver (the DR drugs) and turns the stopcock off.
A couple of weeks later someone else picks up a jug, fills it with water from the bathroom tap upstairs and pours it into the sink (the stimming drugs). They do this each day. If you picture it, the water from the kitchen tap (which is still switched off) and the jug from the bathroom tap aren't interfering with each other at all."
It's such a terrible and corny analogy but my friend did seem to understand perfectly!0 -
