I've contacted the papers and they don't seem to be bothered. Ive asked who exactly would be at the meeting and if I will need a solicitor or someone with me.

Anyone got contact details for Trubster?

Remember, you don't have to go at all if you don't want to. I really can't see that there's anything in it for you.

Why ask them if you need a solicitor? They're hardly likely to say "yes" if they're planning on railroading you into something are they?

The more I think about it the more I wouldn't touch this with a bargepole (sorry Bargepole!)

There isn't an "edge" on the story yet and there won't be until you have been stitched up or you win at court. Those are stark choices but those are the stories that sell papers.

As for asking BL etc whether you need to have a solicitor present I'll just hazard a guess that they'll say "No" and suggest that its just an informal chat about the issue "going forward". At least that is what I'd say to you if I were in their position.

I'm not certain how much more clearly this needs to be laid out for you but the fact that BL are looking to have such a meeting strongly suggests to me that they know they are up to their gunwhales in the brown and sticky and are desperately hoping that you can be headed off. If they simply want to improve their procedures then that is an internal issue and there is no need for you to be there.

By not attending you are not damaging your case and in fact you would keep all of your options open. Only the opposite can happen if you go along.
My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016). :(

For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com
  • Ok thanks everyone. They just replied saying it will just be the Centre Director and PCM owner who would be going, They have stated that if I wish I may have someone with me. He said when I go they will be giving me written confirmation from both Meadowhall and PCM owner that I will never get a ticket again

I'm going to go as if I can make them realise how wrong they are by seeing me in my wheelchair it may stop them doing it to others. I will be contacting Unity Law to see if they will join me

You don't ask them, TBD - you set any terms, should you decide to go ahead.
Following HO's sound advice, why not go higher when all is done?
I seem to have been naïve re: local papers' interest.

Just seeing #75, are Unity Law going to be anywhere near as sharp on these matters as a pepipoo person or someone as suggested by several of us already - #68 and #69?

Just hold back TBD, please, until some others can advise you. Don't set a date yet.

Bluntly, they already know you are in a wheelchair and it's been 'So what!' so far, for all the difference it's made. If you are determined on this meeting, it must be sound-recorded at the very least.

And what happens if the parking company is sacked? Will you need another meeting with the new scammers? Sorry but I don't think its wise to go to this meeting even with a witness. Keep everything in writing, and I mean not via email but letters with proof of postage, this needs to move away from informal to formal as it keeps your options open.
When posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.

  • Even if they got another company British Land Ltd have told me they will be sending me a written letter I can keep on record that I should never receive a ticket. I explained to them that their emails seem to mean nothing so I wanted it in writing

Insist that they post these to you. Why would they make it conditional on you attending a meeting? This stinks.

But Stroma is right, TBD - as he was in #71.
