Afternoon, took the kids up to see their dad today. All was well til he cornered me telling me I need to decide soon as possible. Told him I can't take him back til i trust him and he can sort out his gambling and money issues. He said well no you should take me back and I can show you.

All that would be good and well but I was told by his parents he is skint again. He only got paid on the 24th jan. £96 has been mysteriously taken from his account. Asked him was it gambling but he wouldn't give a straight answer. Also asked him was he willing to go to the doctors or a professional and he laughed. I said if he cared about me and our marriage he would get help and sort it out but his attitude showed me he doesn't care.

I can't take him back now. So guess I'm heading for a divorce now. 9 years wasted, only good thing I had from him are my two boys

Aww - I'm sorry to read this - but take comfort in the fact that it is only 9 years -not wasted - you have your lovely boys - but if you did take him back, then two years, five years, seven years down the road you could be making the same post.

You are being very wise.

If he really wanted to be part of the family, he would be saying "Give me 6 months and I will prove to you that I can stop gambling - I will get help and will be completely open with you about everything. If I can do that, will you take me back?"

The way he is talking now, he wants to make it out as if it's your fault - if you'd taken him back, he would have sorted himself out. It wouldn't happen.

I realise that now. Not going to put my boys through more heartache. Its his loss now

You sound like a very strong woman, put yourself and your two young children first. I'm not saying it will be easy, but you will have your pride and self respect and will make a better life for yourselves.
Your husband might one day realise he wasted his life......
