Just been reading money mostuche it's old but I love it. I think my monthly goings are creeping up again.

My tv, broadband phone bundle is way to expensive considering we don't watch actual tv. We watch Netfl!x, on demand and my husband eurosport all these are watchable via our app!e devices and freeview channels, so I'm considering buying an app!e tv thingy and getting rid of the current package I'm on and go broadband only?
We don't use our house phone and only get nusance calls anyway! I've been on few comparison sites will run my idea past oh and see what he thinks but I've seen offers as low as £10 per month for broadband only.
I know I will have the initial cost if the Apple device £60 but will save money in the long run.

I also have two life ins policies one original came through my bank £6.50 a month but I also have a family one includes me and health plan for £23.50 a month. My original one can surely be cancelled right?

Tv license, water, council tax, car service plan, car payments can't be changed.

    Best get to sleep

  • Hey Trixibell

Just catching up and every pound does make a difference.

    You're doing great though.

RE the TV package, I recently saw a bill from Sky for my mum and managed to cancel it right down to watch she actually uses and saved her a fortune! I can't remember the exact figures but sure it was over £800 a year. Now she just actually pays for what she watches and not sports/music etc that she has no interest in.

I have a NowTV box that cost me £15 and watch the odd bits on there as well as a freeview+ so I can record, we sometimes buy the movies or entertainment pass on NowTV if we fancy watching something, but just get that the odd months and it's not on a contract so don't need to get.

And I would say the original insurance should be cancelled, no need for 2, which reminds me I wanted to check out poicies to see if I could get a cheaper one!

I haven spoke to OH he agrees we will get the apple box when I get back from hols to see the quality etc.

We will lose the option to record with TiVo but for the amount I'm saving they will survive.

I got a quote from Virgin for £18.50 Broadband only, Sky are doing it for £10 per month so when I get back I will haggle would prefer to stay with Virgin just as its hassle free and never had a problem with connection.

I done a comparison on gas and electric and we are on lowest tarriff for pay as you go.

I'm going to cancel washing machine insurance last time my washer broke I spent at least £80 at the launderette add that to the monthly cost and I could buy a new washing machine next time it breaks without the stress of not having one for two weeks. Currently pay £10.24 a month. Second life insurance policy going too. Because I'm saving £16.50 a moth my cancelling these two insurances I will increase my savings DD by this amount so it's going directly to something and not wasted on chocolate :rotfl:

My gym and cinema pass are staying they are my treat.

have a great day everyone xx

  • Hey hon

I thought you were going away around the same time as me. So exciting isn't it.

I totally agree that you should cancel your washing machine insurance. I remember reading how frustrated you were with the laundrette & waiting for the engineer to come. Are you going to put the money aside so you've got something there if and when your machine breaks down?

Have a good evening :) xx
