WOW I must be serious this time.....I have a diary

  • Hiya everyone thank you for your kind words and Harry's mummy thanks for reading.

I have been away again but for a good reason. Talking to a friend who is very organised and very in control of her finances. I realised the connection between the two things.

A organised home, is a organised mind.

I have been decluttering each room I'm not done yet there is still loads to do. Don't get me wrong my house has always been clean and tidy but I needed more order.

I have gutted the kids bedrooms to make it easier to see what they have and haven't got. Turns out they did quite well over xmas, they have clothes that fit . I donated loads of clothes to the clothes bank that didn't fit.

I went through my linen and donated a few as well as I had loads. Three sets per person is more than enough now.

I have gone through my financial papers I was shredding forever as I had kept everything. Everything is now condensed and organised in a much smaller file.

I have donated excess furniture to family and friends who needed it. I come home and now feel I can breathe. I still need to repaint my hallway and lounge I already have the paint brought it about 7 months ago but it's just sat there. I have a few photos to put into albums but that's taking forever lol. I have made a few photo books with my digital photos but only doing these when there is a special offer on.

    Financially:

My total debt has risen to £26,413.74  however I feel in a much better place of what I want to do, I wanted to be debt free but my actions did not reflect this at all. I have got myself a prepaid cc and loaded it with £50 I will put £50 on it a month and that's my spending money, my cc is back out of my purse. My debit card is also out of my purse. If I haven't got it I can't spend on it.

Overtime at work is few and far between so I cannot rely on that solely to clear my debt. I just have to go back to being money savvy. That includes being a bit more careful with my belongings. Sounds mad but I must be more grateful for what I have, don't treat everything as a disposable. It's shameful to admit but I did have I will buy another one attitude, I didn't realise it until I spoke to my 'organised' friend. Who has simple little philosophies that makes her things last longer, and she saves for everything nothing goes on credit. (Except her mortgage) her last purchase was a BMW she said I work hard I deserve it. I used to say that but actually I work and play catch up. Nothing is mine it's all brought with borrowed money.

So my pledge is to clear as much debt as possible I will re-tally in 6 months time. Below is my aim:
    :D£1,000 in emergency fund
    :D£0 on credit card
:DHave £1,000 surplus in my bank account (one months worth of bills)
:DSaved £1,000 towards my settlement figure for the car. This account is on 2% interest the more I save here the better.

So my absence I hope has been explained I needed to physically and mentally declutter and clear.

I have the loft to tackle at some point and the garage and garden. All these areas are my hubby's and his a bit of a hoarder. So it's going to be a bit by bit process. The kitchen however looks lovely every surface is clear apart from the essential appliances: kettle, toaster and microwave. And I gave my hubby and a bits and bobs tin as we have no junk drawer. On top of every cupboard is clear and is one of the quickest rooms to clean now. The lounge I've taking everything off the walls ready to paint and only a few photos will go back up.

I'm working the next three nights in a row, so wont do to much today. Just glad to finally update on here.

I've also cleaned my car it was needed inside and out. Yet again my organised friend told me how much she looks after her cars and is able to usually add a £1,000 to the value when selling because of the condition it is in. I've vowed no more eating in my car.

I'm rambling now lol. Thanks for reading if you got this far. Xx

New York is all paid for, I've brought my pass for the attractions and got my money to change into travellers cheques and cash. I can't wait to go, so excited. :j

Let the money savvy-ness recommence :T

  • I'm on a break at work 4 hours until home time but I needed to share: my washing machine has broken down again!!!!! :-(

Luckily it's still insured (see a few pages back) I've got to call them on Monday. In the mean time instead of going to bed in the morning I will be going to the launderette :-( an expense I didn't count on but these things happen.

Tonight's shift is overtime (it's keeping me going) should get paid next Week for it then I can pay a healthy chunk of the CC next week. I'm hoping to a pay a minimum of £100 next week.

Even if I can get just one overtime shift a week then I can keep chipping away at the CC until it's at £0 again.

Because I've done three nights in a row I haven't done much in the way of decluttering. I updated my details on a old pension scheme which I can't transfer over to my new one (missed the window) but at least now all my details are up to date with them.

    That's my mindless womble xx

  • Hi Hon

Sounds like you're doing really well getting reorganised. Sorry to hear your machine has packed up again. I remember reading about it last time and how much of an inconvenience it was.

Top news that you've paid for New York!! You're going to have the best time and knowing you don't have to come home to pay for it is the best feeling. When do you go?

Have a great day :) xx

    Hiya lovelies,

Thanks for the support I go away the end of march xx

I'm on annual leave at the moment so I'm working as much overtime as I can. Including a last min shift tonight.

My march pay won't be the greatest though as I be got three weeks off so I must make sure I leave a surplus on my account.

My CC is still my prime target haven't made this months payment yet I will do that tomorrow should be able to make a good £754 from my wages.

I'm determined to have my CC paid off before I go on holiday.

That's all I'm continuing to declutter just at a slower rate.

    Short and sweet update:

Just to update I did make the payment of £754 off my cc.

I should be getting £504 for my overtime this Friday, this will also come off my CC.

I've just done another OT shift last night got another one tonight so must get to sleep. Should be on target to clear cc by end of March.

I'm feeling very motivated today. Checked my CC balance its up to date with £900 outstanding. Can't wait to pay another £500 off this week.

Got some more overtime booked for tomorrow so I should be getting a good pay next week too. Then I can shave the CC even further.

I have one more week off work next week but I intend to enjoy it at home and sleep! I'm exhausted so looking forward to the rest.

That's is from me I'm off to read some inspirational stories.

Just checked my emergency fund it was £22.12 short of being £500 so I've moved that amount from my current account.

I now have £500 exactly in my emergency fund half way there, my monthly direct debit of £50 continues to go in.
