I'm back and a lot to catch up on. My signature is going to take some changing

theres some hard work gone into those sigs, you've done fab

I've had my laser surgery which was successful however there was a discrepancy with the original price quoted basically couldn't use my nhs discount on top of deal quoted. But in goodwill they met me halfway.

    Glad it all went ok

So I paid £775 in cash and I had to put £1,000 on my cc now I know I could have taken there 0% April over two years offer but I know I can clear my cc a lot quicker without taking out another credit agreement.

So I can now see without glasses my laser surgery went well, I'm pleased with the results. I still have to minimalise my time on computers which is really hard.

I had a car accident before the eye surgery and I'm waiting to here from insurance company I could end up paying £650 excess which I'm hoping I dont as it the accident was not my fault.

hope you get it sorted, - if the car is wrote off there knock the £650 off what they offer, you'd have to chase the 3rd party insurers for the money, if its garage repairs your still be liable, (sorry), as the ins pays the bill minus your excess.

If the 3rd party has admitted full liability and their insurance agrees it may (big long shot and a lot of hassle on your behalf), they may do an iterimum payment of the access.

I've been there done that, write off, a bump, another bump, all non fault but lots of hassle

I'm on annual leave still not done any overtime for two weeks whilst I've been recovering from my operation. Slowly going stir crazy.

If your bored, I'll send you my xmas cards across to write, there next on my to do list...

I have successfully brought all my xmas and kids birthday presents and got a few last min bargains on Black Friday. So my xmas total in my savings is back at £50 to start from scratch.

I will update my signature soon...I've missed you all xx

Sounds like your well organised with the presents, just got most of DDs, mum and dads, just need a few top up presents to finish them off....x
xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx

  • Well the update,

Let's get the confession out the way :

I went shopping, a few odd presents, the kids needed a few things and the rest was all for me I brought clothes, underwear, pjs, shoes, everything that was old and tatty got replaced I treated myself to the hairdressers and a couple of Groupon vouchers for spa treatments. The total £620 which went onto the CC.

So I paid the CC £630 today so I still have £990 outstanding to pay.

I'm annoyed at myself for doing all in one uncontrollable surge but I loved it. I now have to deal with it.

The £620 should have been going towards my New York spending money.

So my list of the month is abit ridiculous and OTT but those who used to follow me (hope I have a few followers left) know that my to do list can be quite full on.

    January List Before January Payday:

    Clear CC £990
Pay £150 for attraction pass for holiday
    Buy Visa for holiday

    That's all.

Bring on the overtime if it's avaliable, I just can't spend a penny on anything not essential. Although I have brought everything I needed for my holiday so no further spends will be done there.

So happy new year year everyone xx

  • I'm so annoyed.........I did it again I went shopping with my stupid cc in my purse.

It started with a major hair cut, then the rest of the day I spent on a shopping high I brought things I needed however in hindsight they could have been brought gradually over a few months and not all in one go.

So my cc stands at £1,517 (my head is hanging in shame) I did get to £990 the other day. But it's back up. I didn't spend all that yesterday I also had my daughters birthday and I'm re-doing a few things round the house that I spent money on too.

    Recovery steps:
1.Confess on my diary and to myself
    2. Take my cc out of my purse.
3.Look for extra shifts at work I haven't done any for a while and Im going to have to do some to catch back up.
    4.Be realistic about financial goals
    5. Remember why I want to be debt free and out of this cycle.

So that's me all done I will always be honest on here there would have been no point me disguising my slip up as I wouldn't be helping myself. Signature updated.

Off to nap pre night shift. Xx

  • Hey hon

Well done for confessing. Acknowledging you've overspent on your cc and addressing the issue is a big step and one that you have done well.

We all slip up from time to time and I think the worst thing is when you don't acknowledge it. I've certainly gone shopping for say food and ended up putting it on the cc then justifying it by saying I needed to feed my child. Where the reality is if I hadn't wasted money on something else I wouldn't have had to use the cc.

Taking it out of your purse and cutting it up would be the best thing but just removing it is enough for now.

I'm sure you'll be back on track soon. You've done so well already that this is only a minor step back on a long road to being debt free. If it was that easy to reach the other end we wouldn't appreciate it when we get there would we.

Have a great day :) xx

  • Hiya

Newbie here and sat and read through most of your diary... (I know I have too much time on my hands!)

But having said that it's such a motivator for me and has really spurred me on to get rid of my own debts. I will be setting up my own diary shortly once I've read through a few more and got all my figures sorted.:j

Try not to feel too bad about the shopping. You've said that the first spree would have gone towards NYC spending money. Do you still plan on saving that back up and taking that with you or would you have done some shopping for those items in NYC that you now won't need to?

We all slip up from time to time and you've been plugging away at the debt so hard for so long that you were probably due some new items etc. You're back on track now and that's what is really important!

Hope your daughter had a lovely birthday!
