If it helps I haven't actually updated my signature properly in ages. I'm so slack it's unreal and haven't got that much of a clue as to where my debts are - totally let it slip :(

Will try and sort it out later, thanks for the prompt! :) xx

Get on to it Sassy :-)

I've just checked my credit report with noodle. My catalogue is showing as dormant lol! I never thought I would see the day, I used to use it monthly for clothes, appliances and over the top birthday presents. So pleased :-) the only reason I haven't cancelled it is it's my longest account with no defaults etc.

My three previous accounts with defaults will be gone next summer.

I had to spend money today on my anniversary card 13 years today. Then I put the change into my SPC pot.

I'm off to go and make myself look presentable for when the OH gets home.

  • Well next week, I'm finally on annual leave I can't wait all this overtime is making me a little tired and I miss my home.

Next week is going to be expensive though.

I'm going to budget £200 for the week. Think oh is budgeting a similar amount I will be booking tickets for the music festival when I get paid OT on Thursday. I've got the tickets for the cinema and I've managed to get two tickets for Alton towers using clubcard points. Just got to pay for three more.

CB went into account today. Got one school bag left to buy and one pair off football boots.

Spends today (going to sleep before a shift so I know I won't be paying anything else) I've paid:
    £40.74 PAD to CC
    £6 to savings
    0.20p to SPC

I've got enough fuel and will take a cup a soup out of the cupboard for lunch tonight. Im working another two nights OT in a row.

Nothing else to report. Except my PADs have cleared my minimal payment for the month in my CC. Which is equal to the interest. Good times. Nearly at the £2,000 mark. I think I'm £100 off the £2,000 mark owing to CC which I want cleared before my payday. 7 days to go and counting.

I've decided not to buy the YNAB app when the trial ends until it's on special offer, I got flowers and chocs from oh so couldn't ask for it as a gift. As much as I love it can't justify the full price.

Nothing else to report really, I'm continuing the small and steady wins the race attitude. Can't wait to work out total debt owing after 2 months I'm hoping to be close to the £30k mark. I'm resisting the temptation to work it out mentally I will be patient and add it all up on the 3rd.

Have a good day everyone xx

I've not tried YNAB but if you can't afford the real deal have you tried a spreadsheet? I've got one with tabs for every debt and an overview sheet at the front with my bank statement behind that. It really helps.

    :) xx

    Hiya Sassy,

I did have a spreadsheet with formulas and everything on, but my laptop got stolen when they broke in and stole my car last year. For the ynab app I loaded it onto my DS laptop but used my iPad and iPhone daily. I'm finding that logging my daily spends on here helps me loads. I will look for a free app. I'm still using the four rules I've learnt from ynab though xx

Other good news I have checked my paycheck for Thursday and it's a huge £318!!! For my overtime last week!!! I'm so happy:-)

I will be able to hit my target and be under the £2,000 mark for my CC balance and pay for the tickets for the festival without it being a struggle.

I am work doing OT again but on a lunch break :-)

I've made a huge step this morning, I've sent an email to cancel my catalogue account.

I will never be truly debt free if I have £5,000 of unused credit sitting there tempting me. I've lasted a long time without it, but I know what I'm like and it will take a moment of weakness and I will spend uncontrollably onto it. Especially at Xmas.

So I've got in from my shift and emailed them to close my account. I can't wait til it's gone. I cleared the balance during my last LBM and I was good and reduced the balance but now I'm serious about living within my means and with a emergency fund I feel less reliant on my catalogue and credit card. Which is why my credit card is cut up and I'm now cancelling my catalogue account. My actions need to coincide with my thinking (or the other way round :rotfl:)

That's all to report will do spends when I wake up, I'm off to bed. Night all, have a good MSE day xx

    Thanks Steerpike,

I've got a long way still to go. But using the small steps philosophy, I'm hoping to get there sooner rather than later. At the beginning of this LBM, I read through diaries of people who were celebrating being debt free and I read back sometimes 50 pages to see what they had done to achieve the debt free goal. A lot of people seem to drip feed the debt constantly so the figure is always going down, I love checking my CC balance knowing that it's a few days behind because there are payments still left to come off. Thanks for dropping by xx

This month I paid the minimum payment off by doing small PADs a day.

I'm a bit worried that when the kids go back to school, I will spend more money. I will have to be careful that I don't overspend on school lunches and after school activities.

To counteract overspending my kids clothes account will also have money in for their school lunches. This will be funded by CB. To start me off though I will use £40 from OT to stockpile the sandwiches cupboard. things like cereal bars, crisps, they have a snack when they come in from school before dinner so I'll get tins of soup, mac and cheese, ravioli and rice pudding for that. I will also buy a big bag of bread rolls and freeze them the kids can take them out the freezer the night before then. The only fresh things I need to buy is the fillings, the yoghurts and the cheese strings.

Sounds a lot but only one of the kids will have yoghurts, the other two will have cheese strings. Then they all take in a cereal bar and pack of crisps with their sandwiches.

    My daily spends:
£100 to PAD to CC this should take me under the £2,000 owing border on the CC.
    £7 to savings
    £1 to SPC

I will have beans and toast for lunch again at work. And bring some chocolate in that OH brought me.

Still haven't heard back from catalogue company, will chase up tomorrow. I'm off to get ready for my OT shift tonight.

  • I'm knackered so very short...

Spent £55 shopping today a bit over budget but the sandwiches cupboard is ready for September

    £48.98 to CC
    £8 to savings
    £1.00 to SPC

I chased catalogue just waiting for letter to confirm account cancelled.

Working three long shifts in a row now. Short catch ups from me for abit xx
