    Hi all,

I've neglected my diary. I've been doing a mix of shifts again feel like I just sleep, eat and work at the moment.

Not much to report really kids are away for the week with in-laws which is great because I don't feel guilty for working so much.

I've cleaned the house top to bottom today and it's nice knowing it's going to stay like that for the week.

This month is going to be tight financially, bills will be covered but not much else. We have got the week of August off but don't think we can afford to go anywhere even a cheap camping holiday seems out of reach. My frame of mind at the moment is I would like to clear debt and go away when I know I can afford it.

Hope everyone is enjoying the summer :-)

  • Hi hon

We're not having a holiday as such this year but are doing our usual cheapie A-Z and 2 nights at the local campsite - which just happens to be heaven!! I'm sure you'll have a fab week whatever you decide to do.

    Enjoy your summer :) xx

Thanks Sassy, I might have a look at somewhere local xxx

I'm sat on my lunch break thinking of ways to reduce my debt quicker, the only debt not being tackled is the student loan because this hasn't started to be taken out my wages yet. I'll wait until my CC is paid and bursary repayment (2 payments left) then I will chase it up.

I'm literally putting every spare penny towards my CC but it seems to be taking forever to go down. Couldn't get any OT this week :-( so won't be throwing any big amounts at it. Got some more uni books I can sell so will do that tomorrow I think. (After my post night shift nap)

I have got some OT booked next week but need to use that money to pay for a wedding me and OH are going too and staying over. Hopefully though can put at least £10 to CC.

here's hoping more OT comes my way so I can reduce this debt mountain sooner.

Debt moan over now. I'm still using YNAB although trial is over in 20 days might ask OH to buy it for me, as an anniversary present lol.

Not slept much post shift, building work next door , and across the street. So I'm wide awake and decided to read some diaries to get motivated.

Today I'm going to cut up my credit card, I'm surprised I haven't done it yet. I froze it when I had my first LBM but then I took it out the freezer and never put it back. I have savings now not loads but enough of a buffer should I need a back up. Also I'm a bit worried that I will revert to old me and whack a weeks camping holiday on CC because I feel guilty for not taking the kids away.

I'm still lounging in bed post shift but I will get up soon and cut up the CC. New statement is due in a few days I've paid as much as I can this month so hoping the interest isn't too soul destroying.

There are 2 items left to get on the back to school list which I can get with OT may ask OH to go halves with me.

The YNAB app has stopped me spending money, by debt is clear to see in bright red font with a huge fat minus. A daily reminder of money I don't have I can see the figure falling just not quick enough.

I'm moving on from beating myself up mentally about shopping on the CC. Last time I cleared my CC quickly and this time it seems to be dragging.

My OT is only guaranteed for the next three weeks after that we are having a shuffle round at work and it won't be as easy it get hold of weekly OT. I'm going to have to come up with another income solution or find a way to reduce outgoings further although not sure what else can be cut.

Have a good day will update once CC is in pieces.

    Hi everyone,

CC is cut up eeek. Scary times but I'm glad it's done.

Got a bit upset last night, OH doesn't want to go away on holiday, I found a very cheap camping site, he moaned and said it's too far, found that a local one was just as much. Then he moaned about lack of facilities. Finally I found an even cheaper site less than £200 including fuel to get there with great facilities and now his moaning about the cost of food.

I asked him what he wants to do then he said nothing just stay in and rest. I think this is so unfair to me and the kids. The kids haven't been away for two years now. I'm not asking him to pay for everything. (I used to pay for everything but those days are over) but we both can afford to go halves. I think he wants to spend his money on building his bike for his hobby.

I refuse to spend a week sat in the house everyday with him and the kids. It will only end up with me moaning about the mess or trying to persuade everyone to go out on days out somewhere.

Last year we didn't go away because he forgot to book the time off so I spent the week going on days out to legoland, theme parks, harry potter studios etc which cost more than a holiday.

    Rant over

My mix of shifts meant it's been hard for me to sleep at night, so spent a majority of the night reading diaries, and I found that a lot of people have more than one LBM like myself. I also found how much of us all have the sod it you only live once moment of madness and then feel guilty. So I'm going to do myself a yolo envelope. I will put £40 a month aside so when I think sod it I'm having it I can take it from this envelope or replace the money with the cash saved in the envelope I think this will help.

I also said I will start recording my daily spends on here which I haven't been doing at all. So below is my daily spends since Monday. Not including DDs or S/O.

Monday - £2.14 PAD to CC
    £3.00 to SPC
No other spends, was asleep in the day before work then at work for 12 hrs.

Tuesday - £1 PAD to CC
    £0.10 to SPC
No other spends, slept most the day post night shift.

Wednesday - £1.14 PAD to CC
    £0.10 to SPC
No other spends was at work all day took my own lunch in from cupboard at home.

Thursday - £1.14 PAD to CC
    £0.10 to SPC
Not spent anything so far was tempted to go to cinema and lunch but resisted enjoying a quiet house instead OH at work and kids are still away. Silence is bliss :-)

Tomorrow I will need fuel so I will be spending then, as long as I just get fuel and nothing else it's fine.

I'm off to play with a snowball calculator reading about this a lot never tried it. I'm sure an update will follow xx

Oh oh and good news I've not used my littlewoods account since I cleared it. The longest I have ever gone. The real test will be Christmas but I'm so happy I totally forgot it was there.

Just had to chase specsavers for my refund as they continued to take DD payments after it was cancelled. I was told this would be done last week but I've not received anything. Was told if not received by Monday to call back. I will give them the benefit of the doubt I suppose.

Definitely finished updating the diary now lol

Woken up with a crick in my neck today very uncomfortable, hoping it settles as I'm working tonight.

Disappointing news my bursary repayments finishes in October not September. Looks like I miscalculated somewhere.

    Daily spends

    £0.17 to SPC
    £1.14 PAD to CC
I will be putting £10 diesel into car on the way to work. Bringing in a homemade sandwich and crisps from the cupboard for lunch.

Next week I will have to pay £20 to car tax for 12 months, £50 for the work Xmas party and £10 to a lady who did a sponsored walk for a colleague recently diagnosed with cancer. All this will come from OT pay from tonight's overtime. Anything left will go to CC. I was meant to be paying for a hotel for my friends wedding but I will use the following weeks OT for that.

That's it nothing else to report, if OH continues to dig his heels in about us going on holiday I may just do OT at work. Potential to earn an extra couple of hundred pounds.

Got two night shifts in a row now so next update will be at some strange hour.

    Daily spends

    £0.10 into SPC
    £1.91 to CC
£10 to work colleague - see previous post. (was on the same shift last night thought might as well pay as I've got enough in the bank)

Got my new CC statement through my balance is now £2,270.63 I will update my signature later. So that's £370.63 I need to clear before payday to be on target for the "one debt in 100 days challenge."
£91 interest was added to CC this month, anyway onwards and upwards.

Payday hoping to pay £500 off total.
