Treated rudely by Tesco checkout staff

Oh COME ON!!!!
What do you really expect? They pay, like a pound an hour. The only reason people work in "grunt" jobs like checkout operators in Tesco is because the jobcentre threatened to cut their benefits!!!!
If you want decent service, go somewhere that pays its staff a bit more, where people have a feeling of self-worth and a semi-decent standard of life.
OH MY GOD!! How rude are you? How dare you think this? It makes me so angry when people have this narrow minded view about people who work at a supermarket. Working very hard in exactly the job you describe as a 'grunt' job enabled me to get my own property at 20, has paid my way through university, and is paying for my forthcoming wedding. I have worked very hard, have never claimed a benefit in my life and its people like you that I have to deal with day in day out that think you are above everyone else. Well you not, you really are not.:rudolf: I love xmas!0 -
Tesco pay very well for the job actually - better than any other supermarket or most other retail chains in the country. I'm a full time 19 year old student and get £100 a week for 15 hours, and I don't think there is much room to complain about that, at my age I'd be bloody lucky to get as much as that anywhere else for such an easy job.
You can't expect anyone to pay that much for such unskilled labour, and if they did pay more than they did people would only start whining that they are paying uncompetitive wages local shops can't compete with.....0 -
That's a very good point - you're right - certain people will moan either way.
Too little pay and they will say it's slavery and too much and they'll compain that Tesco make too much money and spend it unreasonably on the employees!0 -
People who do not like Tesco services and products should just shut up and go elsewhere.
WHy bother whinging like little girls.....
GO ELSEWHERE
Even a monkey and I mean it, a monkey knows that if it does/eats/uses something which is of no benefit/harmful/annoying it will go elsewhere.
Im sure people here arent monkeys are they? Well I know one or two are but as a whole surely these guys have evolved further than monkeys...0 -
I don't care how much they get paid (they chose to do the job) they should treat every customer with respect. I worked in retail for years and in my last job earned less per hour than Tescos pays. But i treated every transaction in the same way - courteously.
there is no excuse for bad treatment by retail workers. Even difficult customers can easily be passed on to management. the staff do not need and should never get involved in heated debates about anything. They are (or should be) trained to simply get the line manager and let them deal with the problem.
If you don't complain everytime this happens it will only get worse - and where is the incentive for those who do work hard if the bad apples get away with it?0 -

I am a tesco checkout operator and have been for six years since having my children.I get paid well over a pound an hour,As for grunt jobs like checkout operators in tesco because the jobcentre threaten to cut their benefits I find that remark extremley offendsive,I have NEVER claimed any benefits as have been employed 22 years since leaving school
As for tesco staff being badly trained I would like to say that that statment is very false as tesco updates training regularly.
I am neither a lowlife or scum
I try to be polite and help towards all customers even the rude ones
I have had my fair share of rude customers in the past six years ,but I find tthat most of the customers are friendly and pleasant and outweigh the rude ones by far.I myself have had a customer spit in my face because his debit card was refused I discreetly asked if he had another method of payment and he got really angry shouting a screaming.I also have had several friends at word abused verbally and physically one had her nose broken over clubcard points not going though the system another had her fingers broke
So I would just like to say their are two sides to every story0 -
grex80 has probably got one of those faces or voices which makes people feel violent towards her.0
