You have my sympathies OP. I too just like uktim29 have been lucky enough to never previously had bad experiences with SAs wherever I have shopped in the last 30+ years. However like a bolt out of the blue while using a self-scanner checkout in Nottingham Victoria Centre today my third coupon required authorisation, before I knew it out of the crowds came a 'supervisor' demanding (quote...) 'what coupon had I used...and what was the previous one...and the one before...I had used 6 and I shouldn't deny it because her screen would prove I had' ( I have now ended the quote bit). Even though both my husband and I calmly stated I had only 3 vouchers and she had also opened up the voucher slot and retrieved my other 2 vouchers she continued to be abusive towards me, by this time I was visibly shaken and close to tears. Luckily a 'junior' assistant came to my rescue and judging by her sympathetic handling of the situation I guess I wasn't the first to have suffered this lady's poor customer relations skills.

But didn't you lie to the supervisor? Treat somebody like a mug and expect to be shouted at! Liars are far worse than people that lack customer service skills in my book.

Well, admittedly it's a bit ambiguous, but i read that as the supervisor claiming she had 6, as she states she had only used 3.

Timmne, I am so sorry for misleading you, I have now edited my original post to show I was quoting what the supervisor actually said, I HAD used 3 coupons, she was saying that I had used 6 because 'her screen said so'...as you say...

I hate Tesco. I only shop there if I absolutely have to - for dog food etc and I only ever take a basket round. That way you can go to the 'less than 10 items' checkout and they don't have time to be rude.

If I need a 'big shop' I go to Sainsburys - bit further away but miles better service. Better trained assistants and a better class of customers than the chavs you get in my local Tesco super-hyper-mega market!

Otherwise - local Costcutter is just fine. Known the owner for 30 odd years. If my bread isn't there for me when I am shopping he drops it off on his way home (hangs it on the back door handle!!!) Service like that is priceless.

Mind you I don't have to watch every penny so I can be more flexible but I realise some people have to shop where it is cheapest because they are on a budget.

Vote with your money - don't whine about bad service - take your money elsewhere.
Don't grow up. Its a trap!

    Peace, love and labradors!

Sompe people on this thread come accross as arrogant little idiots.

Your tone of voice is going t oaffect how you are treated and looking at what you are like here it is not really a big leap to see how you treat people who should be "lucky to earn £5"

Yes there are some rude people who work in shops, as in all areas of all life, but the customer is not always right and I give what I get. If a person is rude to another and it happens a lot in a day then it will reach the point where you are rude back.

Customers are too pamapered in that they think if they complain they will get something for nothing or a free voucher or some other freeby and even then that will not be enough and they will write to head office and demand more for the trauma of it all.

If you are nice then you will more often than not get the service that you want.
    Nice to save.
