Maybe it's a class thing? I thought wedding breakfast was a pretty standard term. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

I'm always amazed people get so offended about weddings.
I always think it's nice to be invited to share in part of someone's wedding day. I don't see how being on their radar in that way can be offensive.
Especially given how expensive it is to feed people as soon as you mention the w word. I'd much rather the people I care about bought meals for only their nearest and dearest and invited me to the night than spend £40/£50 on another chicken in some sort of sauce meal that wedding caterers seem to specialise in. If I can I'll pop along to the church as it's always nice to see the important bit.0 -
:rotfl: :rotfl::rotfl: Oh dear. People thought I was being serious. I should have added 'did they go to McDonalds for their breakfast?'
Sorry. It was a terrible joke. Could barely be classed as a joke.0 -

The couple get married at 8am, having breakfast and then pop off onto their honeymoon. Whilst every single person in the rest of the town who knew of the bride's existence, celebrates from breakfast til midnight without the married couple there.
I have never heard of this in my life.
Just because you haven't heard of it, does not mean that it does not exist! See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wedding_breakfast
We got married at 12 noon, wedding breakfast at 2-ish (after photos etc, getting to the reception venue) - and as far as I recall, had prawn cocktail, cold salmon/chicken salad, trifle/eton mess - rather boring, but we are talking about the 60s! - and left at about 4.30ish for our honeymoon. This was the same routine with most of our frends & family weddings of that era - we followed on with parties with each family/or friends - depending upon whose wedding it was!0 -
