Struggle to drag my butt out of bed in the morning!

  • Ohh I totally understand that krustylouise - OH came home with some new sheets and some lovely snuggly new pillows at the weekend, and our mattress is pocket sprung...most nights I curl up there with my Kindle instead of reading on the sofa as I can make a big pillow nest!

that sounds lush! We always snuggle up in bed as soon as DD goes to bed, that way we save on heating, tv and just chat or watch something on our phones :)

I'm lucky. My life's working for me at the moment - BF isn't working so is doing everything indoors. It means he feeds the cats, sorts my breakfast, makes my sarnies for lunch, and irons all my clothes (along with six million other chores). We don't have kids.

Thought it was the be-all-and-end-all that he gets a job, but I'm not sure I want us both working full time with no time or energy to do all the other stuff, and he's not having to rush out the door the same time as me. He can stay in his cosies all day, or have a bath later on. tbh, I've never been happier.

I struggle to do anything quickly. Quick for me is an hour in the mornings. I don't get these people who can be in and out of a shower in two mins, or up and out in 20 mins!

50 mins is all I need but my boyfriend does make my sarnies as he gets ready in 10 mins!
  • I can so relate to this thread! I hate, hate, hate getting up in the morning! My wife on the other hand jumps out of bed as fresh as a daisy! I'm sure she isn't 'normal!' :rotfl:

At night time are roles are reversed, she is the grumpy one and I'm wide awake!

MIL got us a Lumia for xmas and it's great (like Lostinrates says, the mimicking dawn) and it has helped A LOT. However, the actual alarm on it is bloody awful and completely cancels out any relaxed awakening from the light. We just use the gradual light function with a softer alarm and it's fab.

i third these - they're quite expensive but they make it so easy to wake up gradually (and they also work the other way if you have a problem dropping off to sleep, by gradually reducing the light level at night).

  • Haha I can be up and out in 20 mins, BF takes over an hour.

  • I've always struggled to get up on mornings and can sleep for England. On weekdays I get up between 6.30-7.30 and I go to bed between 9.30-11. My weekends used to consist of me sleeping in until 12-1pm due to no alarm to wake me and my mobile being on silent - I'd go to bed before midnight or up to 3am if out drinking. I felt like I was getting the sleep my body needed and argued that didn't make me lazy when in reality I was wasting my life. Even now, I never agree to doing things early morning (like exercise classes) as I am still in the mindset that 12 is my wake up time. It's usually 9-10 nowadays but I don't sleep alone now and so it's different.

I always seemed to be fresh as a daisy in the mornings when boyf stayed over and thought he would change my life when he moved in over Christmas on the work mornings as I'd be woken up earlier, could lie in for a little and get out of bed slowly - no such luck - I have reverted back to being unable to get up after only 2 weeks of the new routine :(

I dread what having a child would do to me

I've always hated mornings and wake up just plain mean I'm afraid; and I'm nowhere near normal until I've had a pint of tea and a couple of cigarettes. :(
