Do you think if you got up every morning at 6:45 your body may get into the routine and it may be less of a struggle?

Sleep advice all say to keep the time you get up constant even if your bed time has to change. I know its mainly for sleep but I think it impacts on 'vigour'.

DH and I sometimes lie in, but do so after having got up at the normal time, put the dogs out for a widdle etc etc. that way it feels like a real indulgence too. At the weekend I get to stay in bed while he does the morning routine, but I stay awake, read, watch the news and weather ....

I'm also to adverse to a nap if its needed. The important thing is not to take so much it impairs on your ability to sleep when you 'should' and then make getting up even harder!

My (grown up) kids are fans of an app on the iPhone which is a sleep alarm. Apparently it monitors your sleep and wakes you at the optimum time during that sleep pattern to make you wake up fresh! You set it for the latest time you need to get up, but it can wake you before that (can't remember how kind, think its up to 30 Mins:eek:) but it's supposed to mean that you wake when your body is ready. Certainly one of my brood commented how much fresher she felt - may be a gimmick but worked for her, and usually it was only 10 mins or so earlier than she set it for. I'm sure other similar apps are available?

ooooh! will have to have a search for a similar app on android later - Im terrible at getting up in the morning (snooze button gets hit at least 4 times before I get up!)

It's three hours since I got up and two since I started work. My eyes feel so heavy and I'm sure if I rested my head on my desk I'd be asleep in seconds... Help me! :rotfl:

I don't drink caffeine in the day so I can't even do that!

I've had a Viennese whirl though...! Water isn't cutting it!
  • I just want to go home - the dog woke me up at 4.30am and I didn't really sleep after that!

I tend to get up at the same time everyday and the first five minutes are a nightmare.

However, when it comes to the weekend and I can lie in for however long I want or sleep however long I want, my body clock ALWAYS wakes me up at my normal working time alarm o'clock. The difference is that during the week I feel awful and at the weekend, same exact time, I feel fresh as a daisy and have naturally woken up at that time! Would !!!! to swap, it's bizarre!

Edit: Why is the forum censoring 'Would L-O-V-E'?!

Cant imagine that actually working as everyone needs different amounts of sleep. Some people are fine on 4 hours a night, some need 9! I could be wrong of course but I'm just struggling to fathom how a phone can work out exactly how much sleep we need.

Vitamin B might help OP. Doesnt provide massive amounts of energy but it does give a little boost that helps you feel more perky/energetic in general.

I'm probably not the best person to advise on sleeping patterns since I suffer from insomnia. My problem is usually falling asleep/staying asleep! Although I did find that cutting my sleep to 6 hours or below a night helps a lot with that.
