Struggle to drag my butt out of bed in the morning!

  • Cant imagine that actually working as everyone needs different amounts of sleep. Some people are fine on 4 hours a night, some need 9! I could be wrong of course but I'm just struggling to fathom how a phone can work out exactly how much sleep we need.

Vitamin B might help OP. Doesnt provide massive amounts of energy but it does give a little boost that helps you feel more perky/energetic in general.

I'm probably not the best person to advise on sleeping patterns since I suffer from insomnia. My problem is usually falling asleep/staying asleep! Although I did find that cutting my sleep to 6 hours or below a night helps a lot with that.

I already take vitamins, and I have definitely noticed the effects on my immune system, however my motivation in the morning is nil - but judging by some of the responses, it's normal, not everyone can be full of the joys of spring, mid winter at 6:30am!

There is a fair bit of sleep research out there suggesting that between seven and eight hours is ideal, not looking just at perfomamce over the day but at things like health and longevity. I'm guessing these apps would base on these average ideals.

Op, the other sor of app to consider might be one that does a gradual light alarm over twenty mins, half an hour, mimicking dawn.

I bought an alarm clock that does this fr DH which he used when he ha to stop bein a night owl and he found it ok.

I have started using it now, and definitely feel , um , brighter ( ;) ) when I use this rather than the alarm on my phone.

MIL got us a Lumia for xmas and it's great (like Lostinrates says, the mimicking dawn) and it has helped A LOT. However, the actual alarm on it is bloody awful and completely cancels out any relaxed awakening from the light. We just use the gradual light function with a softer alarm and it's fab.

There is at least one apple app that does same thing....might be only for iPad. I noticed browsing apps the other week.

i might look for one of these because when oh stops here he's worse than I am!

My natural body clock seems to be bed at 1-2am, up at 9-10am. Unfortunately I can't do that on a weekday!

I love the evenings. I'm rarely in bed before midnight, usually 12.30pm. My first alarm goes off at 6.45am, I get up at 6.50am or 6.55am, depending on whether I'm washing my hair or not.

I always have a bath to wake me up (showers just make me grumpy, especially in winter). BF brings me up a cuppa which I drink in there, we chat a little, and I'm out the bath by 7.30am and out the door by 7.55am.

My friend/colleague makes me my first cuppa - and after that, I feel more with it.

I'm like the OP. Struggle to get up every day. I like my job but hate my line manager (thankfully don't have to actually work for her).

Hate leaving the house every day. Would quite happily stay home with my BF and never work again. Can't wait to be able to do what I want to do when I want to.

As soon as I can afford to, I'm looking into doing 4 (or even 4.5!) days a week.

Yes, my OH is dreadful. We have experimented with different hours of sleep to see what is his best, ranging from four to 12, and he struggles to get up and is constantly tired regardless!

I'm the opposite, I'm afraid - I'm always awake before my alarm and leap out of bed but struggle to get more than 5 or 6 hours sleep. It's improved since I've been exercising though.
Same here, I'm lucky to get 4 or 5 hours and some nights 2 or 3 so getting up is no problem. People have actually said that I'm lucky not to need much sleep but I do need it as I'm like a zombie all afternoon and evening.

I'd love to wake every day to a relaxing bath and a cuppa. Usually I have a grumpy child, hungry cats, grumpy OH and we're often late :o
