Its for that reason I won't use the snooze button, it makes everything worse. The alarm sound has to mean one thing so that you do it automatically......
If a cat miaows at you once, do you leap out of bed and attend to their majesties' requirements - or is it the constant yabbering and moaning at you that gets you up?
In my case, it's the latter that brings them success. Coupled with attacking any part of my body they notice under the duvet; a problem that has resulted in the Lovely Fella being quite alarmed some mornings.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll

Actually, I trained the cats to not wake us up. One of my last successes..
Now, if the dogs bark, I'm up and out of bed and down to see what's wrong. (Because my response to the stimuli is , if they are barking something is wrong or they need to go out)
If a baby cries next door do you wake up? I do.....but if its continually cries it becomes part of the noise tapestry and sound pollution, after a while.
What I'm actually talking about though is an automatic response to a stimuli, which requires less mental effort on the part of the person getting up and so is there fore easier.
It worked for DH, who had always been nocturnal, like you being music industry, and actually, I did it pretty much how Pavlov would have done but with positive reward more than disincentive to not follow. Didn't really fancy electrocuting him tbh.0 -

I'm impressed :-)
I believe some cats have learned to adapt their purr to include the same frequencies as a baby's cry. I would have loved to be able to block out my kids' wails, but I never managed it even for a moment, which is probably why I still give into pesky cats.

I read a lot of fairly basic behavioural studies as an undergrad, Training a person to wake up to an alarm really is not the hardest but I really would personally advise against the snooze.
If you are going to use a snooze I'd use a different tone for snooze and 'get up now'. And always GET UP NOW when you get up now alarm goes off. Even if its a Saturday, you're hungover, you only went to bed two hours before or what ever. If you are trying to train a reaction to be almost reflex, then.....you gotta meet it half way.0
