My twenties were ace, pukkadad and I moved in together when I was 20, first in manchester where life was clubbing, working, pub, chemical and alchohol fugues and repeat.
We then moved down south, repeat above.

At 25 we had our first baby, all the above stopped and life was nappy changes, breastfeed repeat.

I wouldn't change a thing, some thought I was too young to have a baby but for me it was the perfect age, we were losing interest in clubbing and pubbing and now my son is nearly 13 and I am only 38.

Our one regret is not travelling but it just wasn't something we even thought about, none of our friends travelled, we were too busy doing pills hahaha.

Make the most of your 20s.
I don't get nearly enough credit for not being a violent psychopath.
  • My 20s were pretty busy.. I graduated uni (twice), had the most awesome travelling holiday in the USA, moved away from my parents to a new city for my first job, moved to the Big Smoke for my second job, met my wife, worked in Dublin for 6 months, bought my first home, got married, got promoted quite a bit, had our first child

My 20's were the best years of my life. I was in a good happy relationship for the entirety of my 20's, bought my first home, good jobs, lot's of holidays travelling all over the world with my (now ex) partner. Never really had any real worries or concerns. Ultimately I was very content with my life back then.

In contrast my 30's were the worst of my life so far.

    Evening All

I'm turning 22 soon and all I've been doing is trying my best to navigate life.

What does the future look like for me?

What did you think about your 20s and how were they ? :o

An unhappy time for me - it only got better when I entered my 30s.

I would say it is the time to do what you want to do, before you get financially burdened with houses, kids, etc etc.

You do see some very boring 20somethings who are already well into a mortgage and never go out partying..way too early to be taking life so seriously imo

Yep, I was a boring 20 something with a mortgage and two kids, taking life seriously, as were all of my friends.

That's why we are now fairly comfortable oldies, the baby boomers who apparently 'have it all'.

    Can you see why?

Well a direct answer to your question would be that my 20's were utterly awful.
I mention this only in case anyone reading having an difficult few years does realise we don't all have fun in our 20's living life to the full so don't feel alone and it's only 'you'.

Life in subsequent decades got considerably better.
Thanks for posting this Brighton Belle, it's made me feel a bit better about this thread! I'm 26 and so far my 20's haven't been brilliant, and reading about all the people who had the time of their lives in their 20's makes me feel a twinge of sadness and regret that my experience hasn't been so good.
It hasn't been an entirely bad few years; I graduated from university, met and moved in with my partner and have seen a bit more of the world. But I haven't had any career success and have done various low paid temping jobs with long periods of unemployment in between. I've certainly met lots of new people, but I haven't made any real new friends since leaving university.
Added to this I started my 20's overweight, with very low self esteem and zero confidence. As the years have gone by the weight has mostly shifted and I've started to have a (slightly) higher opinion of myself, largely due to the supportiveness of my partner.
I sincerely hope that my 20's haven't been the best years of my life! I've got a few years left of my 20's though and who knows what they will hold.

Well. Mostly it's because it was much easier for you to find secure jobs, your cost of living when young wasn't so high and your homes rocketed in value without you having to do a great deal. ;)

There's no 'right' way to spend your life, it's not a race or a competition.

What were the few factors which you found made them so unhappy Tancred ?

I was very unahppy in my 20s. Lonely and unable to get a girlfriend. I was too fat, too short, too geeky, too bespectacled, too 'nice', you name it and I was it. In the end I just said 'to hell with it' and stopped looking for the mega-attractive trophy girlfriend. I ended up meeting someone who was sincere and caring and I married her. We are still together.
