I'd be flabbergasted then as to why he bought it, you're obviously making the effort to make sure you're in budget - when he gets home just ask him to be honest. I think it was probably the convenience of seeing something appropriate and thinking well it might be £55 but it saves me looking, so I'll get it, and the reason he didn't tell you was because he knew you would be steamed about spending that amount.

Hey ho, what's done is done, but he really can't complain when he only gets beans on toast for dinner every night until payday while you and the boys have proper dinners, afterall, he already spent his food money on the gift.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0

I do get what your saying but OH knows the state of play, he's not a kid, he knows how many weeks jean has, the tax bill, that Xmas is ridiculously expensive, that we have 2 weeks to pay day, etc etc, he's not stupid, he probably knows I would have never agreed to it or at least tried to talk him out of it or discuss a cheaper option so why oh why go behind my back and spend a large sum? How does that make it fair?
Because he wanted to get that gift no matter what, and didn't want a row about it with you. Now it sounds like he's going to get one! :rotfl::www: House Deposit = 100% Purchase Fees = 44%

Yep it's done, must get rid of all the plans for revenge I have in my head:rotfl::rotfl: then it will be as if nothing happened:rotfl:0 -
Would you say it was a valid one?
Depends on a few things:
- his reason behind justifying spending that much on one individual
- his reason for picking that particular gift at that cost - is it something they can use, is it a gift they won't use, is it a practical, helpful gift, or is it a piece of indulgence they can get by without, is it something they've always wanted
I'd also show him how much cheaper you could have got it for as well

I hate to give you some bad news ..........but i think we are married to the same man !!
Only mine goes in for larger more expensive items that are ''needed'' for work . and then asks me arrange payment !
I dont need to ring him to ask sweetly what has he done , I go down to his office and throw things
That doesnt work either
I can fully understand why you are mad , I would have had a got at him too...........probably better ways to go around it , but hes not a childVuja De - the feeling you'll be here later0
