Another stupid rule that needs changing. Ok to go to brighton but not to spain.
There's nothing stupid about it.
If you remain in the UK you can continue to meet basic eligibility criteria on availability - you have to be contactable and willing to return for an interview or job start immediately. You cannot do that if you're sunning yourself on the Costas.
You don't need to Jobsearch whilst on holiday but this must be declared in advance.
The law is the law, it prohibits claiming whilst on holiday abroad, and always has. Don't like it - you're under no obligation to claim.0 -

the kids should not be penalised, surely allowing a parents that is taking her kids on holiday is not asking too much, and if you argee it is, then at least allow them to stop claiming for a week and their claim is just deducted one weeks benefit, rather than costing the tax payer more by having her reclaim and waiting weeks for her benefit to restart.
The truth is they make it as hard for people on benefits as they can, the premise is all those on benefits as lazy scum, same if you go in hospital for more than 2 weeks, I was "lucky" as I was in for one day short of the time allowed, so my claim carried on, one day more and my claim would have been canceled, and I would have had to either claim ESA or JSA again, getting out of hospital, the last thing you need to wrong about is having the bus fare home and having to claim anew or the same benefit again, so another way to beat the poor down.0 -

The fact is that they could fill the firms in for you, and send round a butler with the cash once a week and still people like you would complain that they had to get up to answer the door.
glad to see you choose not to answer my points but to offer daft ones instead to answer, so that you can feel justified in your bigoted opinion.0 -

There is not much point trying to talk you out of your inflated sense of entitlement though, is there? You genuinely seem to feel that someone should be paid job seekers allowance while on a family holiday abroad in the sun, which is a point so idiotic that it needs no argument against it made.
And my point was not daft. No matter how much help people like you are given, you still come on here moaning how it should be more. You really don't seem grateful to the rest of society for what they provide for you.
This is such an alien worldview to me that it does make rational discussion difficult.0 -

How are the kids penalised? If the parents can pay for the OP to go abroad for a holiday im sure they could also pay for a UK holiday for them, thus solving the problem.
As for making it hard, if they made it nice n easy and you could go on foreign holidays, extended trips away etc don't you think it might give people a reason to stay on benefits?0 -

sorry never bothered reading this, as you are clearly wanting an argument, I won't reply again to you as I don't want to keep you up as you need to get up for work tomorrow I expect.0 -

you are not allowed a UK holiday either, that's the point.
The kids not having any food for a couple of weeks whilst the parent reclaims will probably count as being penalised i would have thought, or not being allowed to go on holiday with their parent/s.0
