I hate going on holiday - OH conflict. HELP

I am surprised how many people don't like holidays.
I love them and wish I could afford more. Both me and OH have said if we ever won the lottery we would use it to travel - here and abroad.
One weeks holiday is nice but not long enough. Two weeks is ok but I like, if possible, to have 3 weeks away (although for quite a few years haven't really been able to afford that). I also like to go away for weekends.
Neither me nor OH like sunbathing beach holidays. We like sightseeing
I do love my home but love holidays more and am always sad for them to end.The world is over 4 billion years old and yet you somehow managed to exist at the same time as David Bowie0 -
Which cruise? (line, Itinerary)
It can make a big difference getting them riht.,
I can point you to places to get loads of info.0 -

I think one week is often not long enough because it can take a lot of people 2 or 3 days to wind down from work. If I had the time and money I would love to have 3 or 4 week holidays. It's because I really love to try and experience what life is like in that country (getting the local buses, buying food from the markets/shops the locals use etc). It's hard to get out of tourist mode when you are only on holiday for a week.0 -
I'm another that thinks 2 weeks is too long and a cruise would be my idea of hell.
I don't think you sound selfish, OP. I'm quite glad that the things I'd rather be doing are the things that are my everyday life anyway rather than something that costs a lot of money and can only be done rarely. How easy to please we are!Make £25 a day in April £0/£750 (March £584, February £602, January £883.66)
December £361.54, November £322.28, October £288.52, September £374.30, August £223.95, July £71.45, June £251.22, May£119.33, April £236.24, March £106.74, Feb £40.99, Jan £98.54) Total for 2017 - £2,495.100 -

Me too; I'm quite gobsmacked actually.
Two weeks is a minimum for me and I always feel a bit sad coming home!
I have a few friends who seem to go on holiday every time school breaks up! I would settle for a Carribean Christmas, long haul Easter, European May half term week and 3 week Summer holiday to a variety of places on my wish list.
Glad you sorted it out OP. Hope it goes well.0 -

I think people's life styles are different. DH loves travelling but works. Away from home mon to fri so a holiday at home is a real treat for him. Time not squeezed with me, the animals etc.
I miss travelling ( cannot ATM) but like doing so in style really. I like going less often, for shorter somewhere luxurious. I've never liked lounging around on beaches, although, given the chance now I think I'd give it a go!0 -
What exactly is foreign food really anyway? I would have thought most people eat food that originates from all over the world nowadays unless they're an extremely fussy eater.
I must be a fussy eater then. The most "foreign" thing I eat is spag bol and that's only when I cook it. And sometimes I have some Tesco mushroom stir fry. I won't even entertain the idea of Indian, Chinese, Cantonese, French, Italian etc etc. Just the smell is enough to put me off. I'm afraid that I'm strictly a meat, potato, veg person, with no added spices or wine or anything else. My DH used to cook a curry sometimes and I would have to leave the house for the evening when he did.
Some people only exist as examples of what to avoid....0 -

I'd amend that to 'very fussy eater'.0 -
(Have read your comments, not everyone else's.)
Do you both work? Does he work longer hours in a more stressful job? Just that it sounds like you have a lot of free time if you have horses/potter in the garden.
I'm out the house from just before 8am, home just after 7pm (5 days a week). I am DESPERATE for a holiday. OH isn't working and loves pottering round the house and doing all the chores. He hates having to go out and would happily never leave the house ever again. He has zero desire (or money!) to go away. He also now worries about leaving the cats (as do I, but I know they'll get over it!).
We are off to Edinburgh in March, but, personally, I need a sun-holiday to just unwind and relax. I'm not one for lazing round a pool all day, but I like to get away from the UK, swim every day, eat in restaurants every night, go to bars along a harbour or beach, have nothing to do but relax/chill. It's nice to have some 'couple time' too.
My ex and I would cram as many holidays in as we could in a year. It's a major compromise for me, and I'm considering paying for the two of us later in the year and forcing him to go away!
Just pointing out that maybe he needs his holidays more than you... Maybe you're in a less stressful job/do less hours...
