What happens if you get sick and cannot keep down the fizzy lucozade at the GTT? I haven't been able to keep anything fizzy or really sweet down for about a month now....
I am so glad I dont have to have that test.
I dont get how they can expect a pregnant person not to eat for x hours before the test. Id be fainting!
They need to come up with a better test!
Maybe you could ask them if they could give you an anti sickness tablet unless of course it affects the results?0 -

I reckon you'll be fine by 28 weeks mrs TM. I felt like that for a while. My glucose drink wasn't fizzy, it was just like slightly orangey still water. I think I even enjoyed it but I think that was more desperation than anything!0 -
Has anyone had a glucose tolerance test ? I have mine tomorrow. Not looking forwards to fasting !!
I had to drink a whole bottle of lucozade at the beginning of the 2hr wait this time, which probably helped me not feel too bad, but I don't like original lucozade
Good luck
ETA: At my "usual" place (not my chosen hospital) I wasn't given lucozade, it was just a small (maybe 15ml) shot of some syrup type thing. Different places do it differently. And you'll probably feel completely different in yourself by 28wks Mrs TM. Just take one day at a time!I can't wait to see pics of Mini Z either! So excited for you BZ!ETA: I decided I'm going to skip the class tonight too. It's a signs of labour one and TBH, just from chatting to everyone on here I think I know all I want to know!
I read What to Expect before/when I first started TTC so I wouldn't have to concentrate on all the grim things actually during pregnancy. I've decided I know what I need to know, in the recesses of my mind, to get by
Don't know if it's been mentioned - T3SCO baby event has now started.I'm not even sure how much I believe all the hype coming (mainly from America) about not putting your baby in a pramsuit/coat in the carseat, for safety reasons (too much padding to adequately be tight or some suchness) but there's always that niggle isn't there? And let's face it, sometimes it's just a faff putting them on and taking them off, so the wrap will be a good alternative, add some colour to my "boring" black car seat and also I like the fact that it gives us something to put down on the floor/couch in other people's houses for baby to lie on etc
claire16c wrote:(Just didnt help when a lady today found out I was pregnant and said oh wow thats great, are you 3 or 4 months or? I said er no 6!! To be fair I had my winter coat on which really does hide my bump but grr! And quite honestly if I was measuring 26cm at 12 weeks when the baby is about 5cm long I think there would be a growth problem in the opposite way!)

The midwife (who seemed to skip over lots of things...) told me that it was the fizzy original lucozade. Hopefully she was wrong, and it will just be either the syrup (ick, but better than fizz) or the non fizzy stuff.
I'll definitely be taking something to eat afterwards, plus probably sticking around at the hospital for a bit. Empty stomach or not, riding buses make me queasy. It's a 30 minute bus ride from the hospital into town, and another 10-15 minutes home, but I can take a breather between the two rides thankfully!
ETA: Anyone else having a 32 week scan? They've already made the appointment for mine!0 -
Birdie here is the link for the Tens machines. I went for the Mama tens as used it last time but it's personal choice obviously! The £22 includes postage and a return Freepost envelope, and you get it for 7 weeks (think they post out at 37 weeks) I ordered mine on Sunday and it came yesterday - nothing like cutting it fine!
Kerri I do so hope things get moving soon for you!0 -
I'm going on leave from 36 weeks, and that's 1 week of annual. Many people I work with stay until 38 weeks so I felt a bit if a cop out. However my job can be stressful. The long days are tiring and my PGP can't take the 3 hours of trains a day. So why not.Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!0

Looks like a great deal BZ. I heard about the not putting babies or kids in coats or suits when in the car the other week so that does look like a good option.
I can't lie and say ill always do it without checking as it does seem like a huge hassle I need to read more I guess and decide if it's just paranoia or really is something I need to do.0 -
Thanks for that Tesco link BZ. Does anyone else think that the amount of stuff that is available to buy for babies is completely overwhelming?!!0

I've not heard that Claire, what's that all about?0
