Kerri - don't worry about the ranting and crying, its all I've done today as well. And I've still got three weeks left!! I really do feel for you and as for your sister I would stick to your guns, you'll be the one with the newborn everyone should be running around you!!!
As for me I've been reading some birth stories and watching cute youtube clips as to try and calm me and release more oxytocin. Especially after being very ratty with everything today, stupid hormones
Re: pram I opted for the Silver Cross Wayfarer as it was the only one I got on with in store, I've heard lots of good things about it. And when I was in store familiarising myself with it lots of people were watching as I tried it out. Fingers crossed it is as good as it seemed.

Mil swears by Little angels for neice (and her dogs but that's a whole other story!) and they are on offer quite regularly so we will probably get those from her...Kiddicare do boxes of nappies for £20 for a large amount so we have said we will try those too. Not buying any more yet though as the stacker is almost full and obviously we don't know what size she'll need when/how fast she'll go through them.
Going to get more wipes in the ASDA baby event though as I figure there's no such thing as too many in our house as we use them regularly at tournaments for all sorts as well as at home, in the car, I have a pack at work...and so on
Thank you, spose I can buy a few brands and decide. My mum said from her experience it isn't til they are a little older that you really figure out what's best for each baby as when they are very little you change them that often that they won't get leaks or anything as much.
I plan on stocking up on the Huggies wipes in the green packaging, Amazon do them for a good price if you buy bulk ( works out less than £1 per pack) as I use them atm anyways, I have sensitive facial skin and most make up wipes and baby wipes break me out but not these. I can't use Johnsons wipes for some reason my skin goes bright red plus I don't like the smell ( yet don't mind the lotions).
I really need to sort out my freebies, I signed up to join boots club and I have my Emmas diary email somewhere, maybe sort it all out over the weekend aswell as opening the pile of mail I have too....
I feel like such a pest asking loads but I had decided not to bother much til after NY and now that 2014 is here I'm like ARGHHHH. So please bear with me, I'm a first timer0 -

nikit - I had a good cry today as well so don't worry we're just very emotional
My sister called today and told me that I should have the baby at the weekend as that's when is most convenient for everyone!!! Having already been told not to have her at Xmas, New Year, the 2nd (nephews birthday), the 5th (nephews party) and now to be told to wait until the weekend it's no wonder little lady is late given how stressed I've been over which dates are "convenient" to everyone on my side of the family. I hate my sister! I actually think I do, I no longer have anything nice to say about her. She even had the audacity to tell me I should have bought a different car seat so I could take the baby the 2.5hrs down to them instead of her and her children who are 4 and 2 coming up to us. I am determined not to take my child down there unless completely necessary they can come to me. I appear now to be ranting, sorry.
Is she for real ? She sounds,, erm...delightful?
Baby will come when it wants, not when she does ! You would think that having kids herself she would know how it works...0 -
conn1888 I only just realised that I hadn't bought any nappies last week! silly me
I'd get a couple of different brands just in case as you'll probably find that one type fits your LO better than others to start with. I like Pampers, Tesco, Lidl's and Boots so I'm no help slimming down your choiceof what to get!
I found that only my cloth nappies didn't result in explosive poo all up his back occasionally though.
Your sister sounds like a pain Kerri. I agree with making them visit you if they want.
Am hoping I get some proper sleep tonight!
I like the idea of cloth nappies but it's just not something I think I could cope with... of course if there was a mass nappy shortage I would need to though. Going to go with the idea of buying a few brands - baby won't mind will he/she? Then I can settle on one.

Eeep, only 2 days after I posted and there's pages and pages here! Labour vibes to those that need them.
Can't remember all I just read but I'm starting my maternity leave on 14th Feb, baby is due 26th. Not taking annual leave as I want it to delay my return! With my daughter I left work on 8th December with her due 2nd January (might not have left that early if it wasn't for the holidays). She kept me waiting until the 14th... Although to be honest I wouldn't have had a chance of working, I could barely move by the end.
Someone mentioned looking forward to the gas and air - me too! I didn't want pethidine and will put the same in my birth preferences this time. Hopefully I can have a water birth on gas and air like last time but I'm not going to rule out other pain relief. I also need to get a tens hire because I was in early labour for 24 hours before I went into hospital and it really helped.

Yeah it's the prestige I think. It does convert to buggy, it's another attachment for the buggy.
I'm not really sure what swayed me as I hadn't even looked at it online, I walked by it in the shop and had a glance.. then for some reason I kept going back to it and decided that something was telling me that's the one ! I sound so cheesy like i'm describing love at first sight here :rotfl: but it just felt right.
I do still love the Oyster though but wasn't so keen on the green instore, was more drawn to the grape but I don't know what I'm having and thought that it was defo girly in grape.
Yeah I'm probably going to get the grape!
Bit like buying a wedding dress really! You know when youve found the one!"I think it's basically that if they're all like padded up with a big winter coat or suit on, the self belt/straps won't protect them properly in a crash because I guess if they're in some sort of puffa thing it would compress easily and then they would essentially be in a strap that's too big?"
sorry, quotes button not working......my brother rather helpfully (not) told me that car seats are more to protect the person sitting in front rather than the actual child! He can be so comforting sometime *rolls eyes*
I think that's more if an adult isn't strapped in behind you! A baby crashing into you wouldn't be quite as bad, but would for the baby! So don't listen to him
Kerri your sister sounds annoying mine can be like that too! Ha ha at your best pants! Clearly that's the real way to get labour going, none of this pineapple/curry rubbish
Lush if you're worried about skin & wipes etc I'm sure I read a while ago they say to use water & cotton wool at first anyway so if your baby has sensitive skin too you won't have to worry about what type to get etc for a while
I don't have any nappies yet apart from 2 free ones that came in my kiddicare order! And they're for 9lb and over so too big anyway. I guess I'll try to get a couple of different brands to start with.0 -

33 weeks today
I wasn't keen on the idea of a water birth but starting to reconsider as I've had an achy back recently and it's like instant relief in the bath. Okay I know that it wouldn't be pain free giving birth but it may help a little... I haven't done a birth plan yet so I still have time to discuss it with my MW. Right now I don't like the idea of a TENS, the thought of something playing with my nerves kind of scares me and I also have a strange 'fear' of electricity touching me... I really need to get a grip though. I just don't like the unknown, had you used a TENS before, how did it feel this time ?0
