Kerri - best of luck, I really hope you awake tonight and your little princess arrives!

Good luck to the other lady due a week ago too. Any news from Rummer?

Amazon sell newborn Pampers nappies 74 for £7.66 (free delivery £10+ too). I usually but either 2 boxes or a box plus a box of 10 wet wipes. Same nappies are usually on offer at asda £12 each or 2 for £20. Plus they have an alkaline strip which shows if it's wet. I've gone through 5 boxes so far!

    Xx

Smlsave, if noone else has replied, the GTT is Glucose Tolerance Test - for Gestational Diabetes in this case (though it's the same test for normal diabetes/glucose intolerance). You'd only be referred for it if you were considered overweight (high BMI) or had high risk factors (from family history for eg) or had sugar in your piddle.

if this link works - it's the one I used to get onto Tesco baby event.
    Ah nice one, thanks :)

Oh another thing I want to ask - SORRY - have any you started buying nappies yet ? How did you decide what brand to buy ? My mum was saying to pick some up whilst doing the weekly shop but I have no idea, some people telling me Little Angels (asda) are good and others are raving about Aldis ( I don't go there, tend to use Lidl but have an Aldi nearby).
I have heard good things about Little Angels and Aldi's (Mammia?) stuff. But tbh, we got given loads of (leftover) newborn nappies in various brands, and then we bought yet another brand (in a bigger size) with the Boots voucher to get the free changing bag, then yet another (Sainsbury's Little Ones Eco in a bigger size) with my £5 voucher for signing up to their club too :p I figure by the time I've tried all those I'll have more of a clue what suits me/MiniZee :p

Regarding wipes, we've got all the freebies, but I keep coming across advice that says just cotton wool and water is the best, so I have some of that to start with too. I've also found a site that tells you how to basically mix up a solution for homemade wipes (when I was looking at reusable nappies too), so might try that with the cotton wool if at home... if anyone is interested I can try and dig out the link again?

Don't worry about asking questions either! You're not a pest, it brings things up for other people who've forgotten to ask, and it keeps the thread moving too ;)

    Gotta love family
Anyway, BigZ you are now a boldie :) and I've taken great pleasure in making you so.
:rotfl: Technically not a boldie til I'm overdue, but close enough ;)

    Hurrah for the show :D

Re TENS machines, I have one for my muscle spasms and nerve pain anyway, so I've used that when my back went into spasm recently and will use that if I want to during labour. It's just an ordinary one that was something like £20 from Lloyds pharmacy a while ago. I did a straw poll to see if there was any difference between that and a "maternity" one and basically there's just a boost button on "maternity" ones for when you get a contraction, I think... Mine has different settings for different kinds of sensations (some I detest some are fine) and different intensities - worth considering when looking for one.

Thanks Birdie we've been given that nappy bin by a friend, so will need some cartridges for it I suppose. I was in there tonight too, doh!

Lush have a look a the Tesco clearance stuff - they had blankets for £4 and there were some Grobags down from £22ish to £9 too.

    Good luck Kerri!

You're officially a boldie now, BZ!

Ps I think it was you who mentioned the movement that was probably baby hiccups. I definitely had that this morning! Very cute although felt a bit sorry for her as I hate having hiccups!

Had the weirdest movement sensation last night, definitely biggest one so far. Lying in bed feeling the little movements that were going on and all of a sudden there was a big lurch like baby was fully turning. It was right against my belly and it almost felt like I could feel limbs in my hands! Felt so strange. But amazing stuff though!

Got our first antenatal class this aft (nhs), after Beccas comments def not looking forward to it! My friend went to the same one three years ago and said it was pretty cringeworthy!!

Re: nappies - we've gone for cloth, I know it means we're going to be changing her 12+ times a day but I can wash them and have them dry in 3hrs. They're meant to help with the potty training stage as they sit closer to baby's skin so they know the difference between wet and dry, plus disposables create sauna effect yummy.

No baby yet, more show this morning though so my feeling of woe is replaced with elation as it won't be long now :) going to try the natural induction method of continual piano playing today with the new piano that's arriving :D I've got reflexology booked for tomorrow afternoon if she's not here by then. We've decided not to tell my side of the family until she arrives so I'm not pestered during labour. OHs side have been really good at not keeping on, however my side keep calling to find out of there's any news and that's quite stressful.

No way, I was sure you'd have your little miss during the night, Kerri. Yeah all the texts/messages etc asking if you've had her yet, can get quite annoying (I guess this is another, sorry!) but at least it shows people care. I tried to remind myself when I was overdue, that if nobody text/messaged me, I'd probably feel a bit miffed. Funny how we bond with people we will never meet; I jumped on here as soon as I woke today, as I was excited to hopefully read your update. Xx

Hi Kerri, hope it happens for you today!

Re wipes, we bought four packs of water wipes when we saw them on offer but also planning to use cotton wool and water. CW works out a lot cheaper and is better for sensitive skin, but we figured wipes are much more practical for out and about.

Thanks for the tesco link, going to take a look today. Ordered Moses basket mattress for my second hand basket yesterday, last of the essentials done! Me and my Mum have both been given second hand baskets so I'm going to have her bedding too as a spare set. It's baby pink so she's going to try and dye it as we're team blue! We reckon a navy dye might produce a blueish purple!

Baby shower on Saturday morning at my Mums, will be quite a small thing as I didn't want a big group and then three of my close friends can't make it anyway... So I think four or five friends, mum, mil, sil and an auntie! The girls asked me what I wanted so I asked for a baby bath and towels/ bath goodies.

Got a quiet day on today, some housework and baby planning. Might start with a nice soak in the bath! Have a good one everyone x

Aw angelmommy sorry this little lady is taking her sweet time. I'm back pumping this morning to raise my oxytocin, freezing the collected colostrum in icecubes. She's going to be worth the wait though. Piano has arrived, I feel a lot happier today and much more positive :) won't be long.

  • Morning all, hope everyone is well.
Trying to decide what to do today to keep myself occupied and not "waiting"... Little one has been packed off to school, hubby at work.
Another sweep booked for tomorrow, hopefully that will kick start something!
At least I know she'll be here by this time next week - fingers crossed.
    Perfect princess arrived 13.01.14 :):):)
