Interesting thing has just started to happen to me and I'm not sure whether to get actually excited this time. I'm getting gas type pains, but without the gas. They're coming in waves and my bump goes all tight. Could this be the start of something? Oh please let it be!!! PLLLLEEEAAASSSEEEE

    Fingers crossed!! :j

Agghhhhhh Kerri - fingers crossed for you!!!

Thanks girls, I thought I was being really realistic! One of those 4 weeks will be mat leave, the remaining 3 will be holiday. I had a massively stressful & busy time at work last year so was unable to take my full years allowance therefore I'm quite looking forward to the break if I'm honest. I do have a desk job but sometimes the pressure is piled on to me so I know I won't want to be there after 36w.

Maybe the MW will be right but I can always amend if I'm not feeling great nearer the time.

Was really pleased at todays appointment as I was measuring 23 at 23 weeks so looks like my little miss is doing exactly as she should. She kicked the MW too lol

I finished work between 34 and 35 weeks pregnant, did it that early for a few reasons: had saved enough annual leave to finish a few weeks before proper maternity leave began, wanted to finish just before Christmas rather than just after, I commute an hour and 15 minutes by train and tube each way and that was getting tougher towards the end.

Joining in the pethedine discussions... Our NCT leader said pethedine was more of a sedative than a pain killer, particularly useful for a long early labour (where you might need a rest from hours of contractions) but no good for the active/pushing stage as you don't want to be drowsy at that point. It's an opiate (same family of drugs as morphine, codeine etc) so you might react if you know you get sick from codeine (I do!).

Massage was lush thanks, now going to give the bathroom a wipe round before Mum pops in, seems we all do the same thing when it comes to Mums!

    Hi Ladies

I've been lurking but not posting much, I've been busy getting the nursery sorted and worked over Xmas/New Year etc so its been all go.

When does the measuring start? I've not had anything like that although my 28 week appointment is coing up so perhaps then.

Re Maternity Leave.......I'm thinking now I've maybe made a mistake, my first day of leave is 14/04 and EDD is 17/04

Good luck to the ladies due or who've just gone over. Fingers crossed for you Keri that things are starting

Re: mat leave - I took an entire month off before my EDD...however I think if I didn't work from home I'd have had to go on mat leave earlier as I just wasn't able to concentrate properly from around 32w and I was sooo tired.

Fingers crossed for you kerri, I really hope this is it for you x

Re: Pain relief, I'm wondering if the fear of the massive needle will convince me to stick to just G&A/Paracetamol?! :p My SIL said that she put on her birth plan that she wasn't to be given morphine as it makes her really sick... she had a c-section (not on the plan! ;)) and then they gave her morphine afterwards because no-one had bothered to read her notes! Poor love spent her first few hours with her new baby puking her guts up and feeling really out of it!

I love that M&P Star wallpaper! There isn't a good wall for use to use it on (since we saw it after putting up prints and making plans for other stuff) otherwise we'd have gone for it too! :)

My ML is officially starting at 39w but I'm taking 2 weeks AL before. We just couldn't afford for me to have 6 weeks out of my ML allowance before the baby's even here! I'd only suggest 6 weeks to someone who did a very physical job but for an office monkey with an easy commute like me there's no point at all in finishing so soon! I will be glad to finish next week though as my back is suffering ATM. :)

Jemb, I don't have a HV and have no idea when to expect one! Forgot to ask yesterday when I saw the MW (knew I would!) :o

I really hope this is proper labour coming on for you now Kerri! :)

Debs, things seem to differ by area but I think my bump got measured at my 28w appointment. :)
