Hi ladies - special good wishes to the boldies and to Jox and Rummer, hope all well. I was 37 weeks yesterday which was a nice feeling though not ready for baby to come along yet!

Had a nice dream last night, was trekking through mountains with friends. When I woke I could feel the contrast between the dream where I was light and energetic and the reality of me heaving myself out of bed!!

Kynthia, glad your NCT was so positive, we enjoyed ours too. As for meeting up, the 8 girls have arranged a regular meet up every Monday (we're nearly all on mat leave now) and so far have done a couple of lunches at caf!s in the town centre with 4-5 of us turning up each time. We've been asked by the NCT leader to set up a couples and babies meet up in march once babies are here: that's been more difficult as no one really has space at home for 17 adults and 8 babies and we don't yet know the nice baby-friendly locations!

Heading into town this morning, going to get fitted for nursing bras and then have a massage booked late morning (Christmas vouchers!). My mum is popping in for coffee this afternoon. Have a good day all x

Good luck today Jox, be thinking of you and your little man, hope all goes smoothly

Happy due date BigZ and full term Fran :) fingers crossed everything will be ok for you to use the birthing centre Kerri

Claire hope the midwife goes ok for you

MrsBunny that was quite the little scare, nice practice run for the big event lol

AFM all full of a head cold today so very grumpy indeed, although I did sleep through the night again so at least there's that.
Tempted to text mum ans tell her not to pop by this afternoon but think that'll make her worry. Cleverly I bought a house on her way home from work and she's been round yesterday and Monday, I appreciate the love and care but it makes me feel like I should tidy then she tells me I shouldn't be doing anything lol feel like she's establishing A Pattern before baby comes so I don't think she's just coming every day to see baby lol

Firefly - Sod's law I was only 10 mins away from the RAH but my labour took days!! :p
I was in the consultant led unit cos I had pph with my first....and I also wanted to be where the drugs were :D It was two midwives who delivered my baby tho. It's just that there were docs about if needed. I was grateful to be on continuous monitoring too as it picked up baby in distress when otherwise there might have been a time gap before that was picked up. I know it it is good to move about in labour but I was in so much pain I couldn't face doing anything but lying down. Then when I eventually got an epidural I had to lie on the bed anyway but obv not flat out, kind of sitting up :)

MrsBunny- glad everything is ok for you now. Good that you got prompt treatment tho just in case.

Faerie - lol at your mad dream! :rotfl:

Faith2009 - hope your GTT is ok otherwise you have to stick a needle in your fingers 4 times a day to check sugar levels!:(

BZ - at people waking you up! I'm like a bear with a sore head if anyone does that to me :D

Jox - thinking of you today. Hope it all goes well x

TL - hope you feel better soon. It's fab you can sleep thro the night. I'm up for a pee every night without fail :o

I love seeing everyone's nurseries. I haven't got one. Baby is going to be in with us for a while, then DD2 will move into DD1's room, DD1 will move to the dining room and baby can then move into the single room.

Just booked the 'parent education' class my hospital offers, it's just one day on a Sunday so glad were doing nct!

And just had a text to say my furniture is coming between 1.08 & 2.08. It better come in the first half hour or I'll be at the drs!

Every other delivery I've had has come early apart from this one. The neighbour said they'd take it for me but I'm worried it might take up half their living room :)

Faith hope I can see that happening to me.

I want a water birth in the midwife unit but the other day when I got such a bad pain from the baby lying in a certain way that had me in tears so I'm wondering if ill be able to just do it on gas & air tbh now.

I'm like that with my Mum TL, if I'm ill and I know she's coming round I have to tidy and clean but she comes to help out and do all that for me... just don't want her to think I live like a slob even if I am dying! :o I wouldn't be too keen about a pattern being established though, although I'm fairly sure my MIL (who only lives a 5 minute walk away) will be 'just passing' at least once a day once the baby's here. I don't want to have to entertain people (and, let's be honest, get dressed and brush my hair! :p) every day! :o

Claire, can you leave your neighbour with a key so the furniture can be left in your house if it arrives whilst you're out? It will take up a lot of space, we had about 6/7 big boxes when ours came! :)

  • Just found out that bf won't be back in the country for the first of our two antenatal classes :( I understand why but I am gutted...I don't want to go with his mum or my parents or anyone else :( and it's a drive away from home so I couldn't go alone as I wouldn't be able to get there. :'(

Aw Lush that's pants. My OH got stuck in Birmingham for one of ours and had to ring my Mum in tears (irrational pregnant ones)I went with my Mum and it was fine. They actually ended up asking her a load of questions as she had a really bad birth with me so used her as a case study. How many classes do you have? We went to NCT so think there were 6 or 7? One lady there only had her husband there for a Sat session as he couldnt make the others and nobody batted an eyelid. So take a Mum either yours or OHs or a friend and dont be upset x

claire - can you give the neighbour a house key to get the furniture into your house if you have to go out? It sounds like DPD though so you can track them as they make their rounds, I always love to stalk ours when I have a delivery so I know if I can pop to the loo or not lol.

Birdie - meant to say, Hooray for finishing work next week :j bet you can't wait!

Lush - could you ask someone to go with you and leave them in the hospital cafe with a newspaper while you go to the class?

Claire- Hope you don't miss your furniture coming although that's nice of your neighbour to take it in. Re pain in labour, I think there is a huge variation in people's experiences. I don't think it's about pain threshold, I think some people just don't get as painful a labour. Personally I think it's good to read lots of experiences. My labours were so painful I was shocked that that level of pain was even possible. My whole body kind of froze. But then some people say the pain wasn't anything like as bad as they imagined and some have really quick births, fingers crossed you'll get one of those. The main thing is to be open minded and don't feel like a failure if you do need some pain relief apart from G&A. 2nd time my epidural only partially worked so I still needed G&A which made me puke all over DH :rotfl:
