  • MrsBunny goodness me, what a shock! I am glad everything has settled down, will they be giving you any extra antenatal appointments? I am glad your DH was able to take you straight away as it sounds like it could easily have been pre-eclampsia. Did they give you any idea what happened?

Samtoby I am so sorry for your experience with HV. Please do make a complaint to someone, even if just so it reduces the likelihood of it happening to someone else.

Jemb at least if you host the first meet-up you might dodge one when they're a year old and wrecking the joint ;)

Kerri ooooh jealous about the takeaway! What have you gone for? I am doing my last lot of batch cooking tomorrow afternoon so thinking I might do a nice lamb curry. I am really off bland flavours this pregnancy so there has been lots of curry / chilli etc, still absolutely nothing doing on the baby front though!

Faerie I didn't have a cannula put in until the syntocinon drip with DD (I had been stuck at 7-8cm for over 10 hours ) so I don't think it is essential. I used to be a nurse too and I'm so squeamish about things like that!

Becca how sweet! How come you went back in this week? Did it mean that the Christmas holidays were full pay rather than mat leave? It must've been hard to motivate yourself yesterday morning!

BZ was all ok at your appointment this morning? Do you think you're going to go back tomorrow for a sweep? You'll be 40 weeks in 3 hours

Nothing to report here except I've made it to 39+0 today! Not long now :D

RE Isofix... we haven't used it yet (obviously!) but we bought the easyfix base to go with the cabriofix. We were umming and ahhhing, but managed to save £175 on the pram/car seat, so decided to go for it. I used mothercare's price match and got it for the amazon price of £71.99 instead of the RRP of £125 or the mothercare sale price of £89.99.

That is one that can be used with a seatbelt or isofix. We both have isofix compatible cars, so will move it between them when necessary. :)

I fitted it in my car on my own without too many problems so I think, when we've got the hang of it, it will be easy to move.

The which reports on the cabriofix give it a higher percentage safety wise when using ISOfix, so that was another factor for us. :)

I went for a Mix Bhoona Nawabe, no contractions, no niggles, no bad belly no nothing grrrr :( I even took some castor oil tablets earlier (at least I won't poop in the pool) but I already know that they don't cause me to have the runs. This baby is letting me know that she will come when she's ready and not when I am lol. OH has just given me and the baby a lovely massage with some gorgeous aromatherapy oils, and I've even been sucking my thumb earlier (apparently it can release oxytocin)...I don't think there is anything I haven't tried now lol. She's soooo turning up just as the new-to-us piano does on Thursday morning isn't she?

We're getting the new 2way fix base which I'm hoping will last us this baby & another (if we are fortunate enough!) because its fairly expensive. Both our cars will have isofix though so think its worth it cus you can use it with next car seat up too which can then face both ways under new Isize laws.

Mincepie - not long for you now!! How are you feeling?
I went back this week for a few reasons: getting paid over Christmas, wanting to do the training days but having to start maternity leave on a Sunday & being around for my cover teacher to check things if she needs to

Antenatal classes were utter rubbish. We're not going back just going to our NCT ones.

Was very worried it might have been pre eclampsia esp with having a headache too. They never actually said what caused the swelling etc just got told pregnancy reacts differently to everyone and I'm the one that gets swelling! Fab. :rotfl:

Poor DH though, he was so tired then had to drive me there and then himself back home to sleep. Must of been about 9 am before he got into bed, not what you want after a 12 hour nightshift. I was on firm instructions to keep calling his mobile if something was wrong or text if things were ok!

Thanks for all your kind comments, feeling much better this evening and little man is kicking me silly too - nothing wrong with him!! :D

Ooh forgot to mention.....kiddicare have Maxicosi easy base for £63 at mo, have had my eye on it for months and that is the cheapest I have seen that car seat base. Mothercare it's £75.

Our car or parents car doesn't gave the iofix thing so it's perfect for us.

MPM - my best pants would be rather uncomfortable this late in pregnancy...if my waters broke there wouldn't be much of them to soak it up! Hahaha....I shall go dig them out and see if I can still fit my bum in there, good thinking :D I'm hitting the breastpump as soon as it arrives tomorrow, let's get the oxytocin levels rising!

I have spent all day reading my Montessori book, it makes quite good sense. OH turned round to me this evening and said "you know you can read these books but you have to let her be herself"...my response "that's exactly what Montessori tells you to do". That shut him up.

Thanks, that helps a lot. Going to look further into the bases as they are pretty expensive if we don't use them much, however if we will use it a lot then it's perhaps an investment...

PS.. did you get a good deal for carseat ? I'm looking just now at the ones to fit the oyster.

I've seen bases on eBay for around £20 and £60 ish on amazon. John Lewis had one in my local store for £55.

I got the car seat from kiddicare they had about £30 off. Could have got it cheaper or in a deal with a base at various shops but I wanted a pink one :)
