I had my home visit from the midwife this morning. It was a bit disconcerting as my lovely cat decided to perch herself on the table right in front of us and stare us out for the full hour!!
Everything seemed okay though, I mentioned that I thought I hadn't grown much but I'm measuring spot on. I'm 30 + 4 today and measuring 30cm. Apparently all my other measurements have been 1cm less than weeks so hope this means I'm on track for a normal size baby... Been convincing myself because I'm overweight I'm going to have a whopper!!!

Baby's movements are still more on the quiet side but still feeling it through the day, just not constantly. I've been seeing some movements without feeling anything so guess it's just the position that baby is in at the moment or midwife said it could be hiccups!!!

Discussed birth plans this morning... All pretty straight forward she seemed pleased with my choices!! Let's hope I can stick to it at the time!

Re names we have a firm favourite which we both love... But we have a couple of subs just in case. I reckon well stick with first choice, baby girl better look like this name!!! Xx

Back from consultant appointment and encountered my very first incompetent midwife. She was a good five minutes poking and prodding me painfully cos she couldn't tell which way round baby was and said I was measuring 39 weeks! She got the doctor who put her hand found baby's head within two seconds and said 'that's definitely a head as it's hard' and measured me at 37 weeks, so a week ahead as normal. So two panics for nothing.

Little Lowe then hid so they couldn't find her heartbeat for a good few minutes and I've had some very uncomfortable movements since, so she's made her feelings on the treatment quite clear lol

Baby is 'a little bit' engaged and my pregnancy is considered low risk apart from high bmi so I'll be seeing the midwife weekly until 40 weeks when I'll go to the doctor for a sweep and induction plan at 40+10.

Slight spanner in the works in that I'll have to have a cannula as I'm at higher risk of losing blood so that may mean I can't have a water birth but that was a long shot anyway as my hospital only has one pool

They measured my bmi again which annoyed me as it seems like even less use than normal when all I weigh isn't just me, there's baby and fluid and blood and stuff lol but bmi is now over 40 so apparently the anesthetist will have to have a word with me when I'm labour in case of complications meaning I need an epidural/c-section

It did really upset me, felt like a bad mama having to have special treatment but DH found it very reassuring that they were doing their best to take care of me- I forget that whilst I worry about baby being ok, he worries about me and baby. So I shall take his attitude and be happy that they're doing their best for me :)

Afternoon all, I'm still hogging the top spot I'm afraid but baby is still giving me lots of wriggles and hiccups so I'm not going to complain as they're soooo cute! I've given in and ordered myself a m3dula swing breast pump from am4zon...probably could have got it cheaper elsewhere but want it here for nipple stimulation for tomorrow. Plus it will mean that OH can feed her if I need a break. I did order the c4lma bottles too, just hoping my milk comes in now as my mothers didn't eep! However, given how huge they've gotten and that I leak I'm pinning my bets on it'll be fine. Otherwise I've wasted a lot of money, ho hum! I think secretly OH will be pleased that he can feed her too though :)

TL - you're not a bad mama at all :) they're just looking out for you *hugs*

Nikit - same due date as me...unfortunately all we can do is try to relax and increase our oxytocin levels. I've resigned myself to the fact that baby's come when they are ready, that the date is only an estimated date, and regardless of what you try if you're not relaxed that baby is just not coming out as you're not giving the right signals to your brain. Massages, nipple stimulation, glass of wine and a warm bath are probably the best for relaxing. I've also been meditating with aromatherapy which I find really helps settle the mind :) Won't be long until baby is here.

  • Kerri - I know! I tried reflexology last week which was extremely relaxing but didn't trigger anything! I went a week over with my first so was hoping my second would be earlier!!!

I have a homevisit from midwife tomorrow to discuss induction so am hoping I might get a sweep tomorrow to start it off!!!

I had my 2nd sweep tomorrow, still waiting. I'm spending my day reading books as I've been so busy doing all the other things and I won't have time when little one arrives, it's actually quite nice in the quiet house. I discussed induction with the MW yesterday and told her I don't want one, will just wait it out for little one to arrive. At least that way I'm not stressing out about dates :) if we can't go to the birth centre up the road then it's not a massive problem.

Ha I had that too -' have you tried ginger biscuits? Have you tried travel bands? Really, you're still being sick shouldn't that have stopped by 12 weeks?'

I was like if you knew how many times I've thrown up various things like ginger biscuits whilst wearing those stupid bands!!

Thankfully my vomiting stopped at 21 weeks but nausea hasn't ever gone & then I threw up the other weekend so a bit worried it's coming back.

I mainly was sick in the sink or this kitchen jug (which is no longer used for food lol) because for some reason just seeing the toilet made me feel even more sick! And started to hurt my back.

Don't worry my friend had barely any boob changes til her milk came in & I know she was still breast feeding at 9 months.

It's soo annoying isnt it?! I'm same as you, I've ried everything, midwife isnt too bothered, just labeled as 'just one of those things' so done the ginger biscuit, bands, mints, no taking pregnancy vits till pm and nope, still sick! I figure I've got to nearly 38 weeks so I'll ignore anyone else who tells me their opinion now as I#'ve only got the last bit to go!

So TL I'm definitely joining you in the weird dream club. Last night was the 2nd dreM I've had about you lot, although the first was us drinking cocktails, this one was in the labour ward!!

It was like a hotel where we all booked in about 3 weeks before baby was due and we could come and go as we please but when the time came there was a big communal area where we had to go and give birth! Someone had a baby in my dream but I couldn't see their face. Labour only lasted about 10 seconds though!
I then dreamt about walking into a betting shop with my boobs out!! It all went a bit crazy at that point!

Can that be me and my labour please! lol
