    Hi ladies!

Finally feeling confident enough in this pregnancy to properly introduce myself - 20+1 today with a little girl due on 25/5/14. We had our anomaly scan last week and everything was fine, so it's finally starting to sink in that we really will be bringing a baby home come May.
Congratulations :D Have I seen you on the ttc/12m+ thread? Would you like adding to the list?

Is anyone else struggling with names? We had no problem deciding on a girls name but can't agree at all on a boys name. The problem is I have my heart set on Isaac and he hates it. Everything he suggests, I don't like and vice versa. We have 1 name that we both like but I just don't love it like I do with Isaac! I am worried that if I compromise that I'll regret it but at the same time I don't want him to hate his son's name either.
Yes! And my due date is 2 days away :p We just cannot decide. I think s/he'll be called MiniZee for every minute of the 6 weeks we have to register the birth, with a last minute decision at the eleventh hour! :rotfl:

I haven't bothered with RLT personally. I'm lazy though and haven't bothered with much! :p

    Hello lovely pregnant ladies!

I've not posted this pregnancy - now at 32+5, but was on here a lot when I had my little girl nearly 2 years ago. Don't know how good I'll be at keeping up-to-date as I've still got 6 weeks at work but I'll give it a go!

I am expecting a baby boy, due 26th February.
 Welcome, would you like to be added to the list?

Re leaky b00bs, I'm now 39+5(!) and not had even a little ;) They've changed loads so I'm not too concerned - just hope BFing goes ok, but less because I think non-leaking is the problem and more because I'm a little paranoid ;)

Hope you're discharged back to MW care tomorrow TL :)

On what basis do the consultants and MWs disagree, smlsave?

Kerri do you have a backup way of contacting him? A landline number at the site or a work colleague on a different (better reception) network?

Re the night sweats/temp control, I think that's just the hormones at play rather than an effect of the S&S - I get it a lot atm and before that I got it a lot at particular times of my cycle. Sister gets it a lot with her endometriosis too.

I know it sounds bad, but it kind of makes me feel better that you're doing everything "right" and still waiting.:o I'm not capable of doing all the recommended activities etc, and not invested enough in the other suggestions to really bother, but there's always that nagging doubt about what I should be doing... :o

Alipops - if it's your first then you could go 2 weeks over anyway...? Other than being more tired, it's possible that you could feel fine to go to the wedding... How far is your chosen birth place from the venue? Labour usually starts off slow (recent stories excepted ;)) so you could have plenty of time to get home and to the birth place etc if you started feeling dodgy. My husband is at work til I go into labour - if that starts outside of rush hour it would take him around 35mins to get home. Inside of rush hour and it could be up to 1.5hrs, but I wouldn't and can't stop him going to work... Then again you could be on bed rest like Jox etc.

I would say that (when you're happy to announce the pregnancy) - just explain your fears/concerns and that you're going to have to play it by ear... You've a lot of time to plan contingencies etc :)

I would be pushing for the stag do to be a month before rather than a week before though ;)

Btw would you like adding to the list?

Kynthia, I believe the advice re the swelling in your wrists etc is to keep them straight ish when you're in bed and preferably slightly higher - propped on a pillow etc esp while you're sleeping. It should help the fluid not gather so much. Hope that helps you :)

August RSVP does seem a little...eager. I think we sent our invites out in May? for our September wedding. I only gave that much time cos I was worried about Summer holidays being booked ;) and obviously our closest friends and family knew from the day we booked the venue in the October prior, so that was our "save the date"

Firefly, hope all is well at your appointment(s). You don't have to have the sweep if you don't want to though... Midwife is suggesting I have one on Wednesday, but I'm unconvinced about it... my cervx was way too high the other day when I checked (the TTC skills never leave us ;)) so I don't think it would be favourable anyway! :o

Birdie, I didn't miss the boat for booking them at all (antenatal classes) but they wouldn't let me book them for November (when I was more confident I'd be in a suitable state to attend) only for December - and surprise surprise I wasn't capable of doing it then, so we never went. I don't particularly feel like I've missed anything by not going (I had guilt at the time, but tbh I think that was mostly hormonal) and since admitting to this a few friends have told me they never bothered either and that actually I know more than they do to this day, even though they've actually had kids! :p I also felt like I was going along with it more for DH to learn stuff rather than me, so when he said he wasn't as bothered (and more anxious than it was worth about attending) then it gave me the green light to dip out too ;) My point is, if you're happy enough then don't worry about it. You'll find out what you need to know as it happens ;) and there's plenty of resources available these days without going to the class. My midwife asked if we'd gone in the end, and when I said we hadn't she asked if we had any particular questions and answered them for us there and then. There'll be plently of opportunities to ask/find out what daunts you if you think of anything...

I got the "it seems like you've been pregnant forever!" comment the other day from my hairdresser too ;)

The tiny tie sounds v cute ;) We've got a wedding in March that I think I'll allow myself to buy a cute and ridiculously impractical outfit for ;) It'll likely be the first time most of Dh's family gets to meet bubs too ;)

Hope the power issues get resolved now samtoby!

Durham_girl baby's movements have indeed changed. It's more like TeamLowe described for me too - more wriggles and bum shifts and appendages shoving out, rather than actual kicks so much. And hiccups too. And the random quick movements Claire described too (they had me wondering too!).

Squirrel I had quieter baby movement days around growth spurts. I think they're like anyone - an average amount of movement for your baby still has busier times/days and quieter times/days. We also have busier days where we're looking out for them less too, or eaten less stimulating things etc... Like Claire says though, anyone even slightly concerned should contact their midwife. They usually have a list of things to try before hauling you in for monitoring etc, so just before you've asked doesn't mean you're going to have a load of stress and hassle straight off the bat...

We're just using bog standard supermarket non-bio for the washes. I got the Mr M's one cos I like the smell rather than anything else, but I don't buy into the whole one brand better than another thing anyway... :o But maybe I'm just a skinflint ;) I don't use fabric conditioner either. There were samples of Fairy and ...Comfort? in the freebie packs though, maybe start with them and see how you like them?

Squeeeee, I'm on the big list, thanks for adding me BZ, I can't believe I am here
It was my pleasure! :D I can't believe I'm here either, and I'm due to pop! How you doing?

Hope we hear from Rummer soon :)

Noone got any ideas about the Lamaze offer on Amazon then? Hmm, think I'll have to use their live chat thing to see what I'm missing... :o

Btw, I was looking on there earlier to show a friend what I meant by the Perfect Prep machine and it's currently £69.99 instead of £100, if anyone was after one. There's also an offer for the Ameda dual breast pump posted on the baby offers thread - with some code or other you can get it for £49.99 I think it was, was £100+ I think? (If anyone's interested and can't find the link I can post it later) I'm tempted, but I've seen a few offers come and go during the past 6months so I'm trying to stay confident that if it's something I need I'll be able to get it at a decent price nearer the time... Especially as even if I go the most overdue, the baby events will still be on for a couple of weeks post birth...

All this talk of expensive prams, with all these features, makes me start to second guess our travel system that cost all of £110 :p

    evening

glad today is over with, hardly slept a wink last night as my ankles and knees were sore from swelling. no matter how I lay in bed, ouch!

had a chat with my manager in work today, I have not worked 5 days straight since first week in November and getting to work this morning I decided I wanted to take some holidays over the next 4 weeks as I know I will be knackered. She agreed and is willing to bend the rules for me (normally have to give a months notice for leave) and was speaking to HR when I left to approve the leave. Took alternative Wednesdays and Thursdays and one Monday off so I am not working to many days in a row....enough to have a rest and lie down!!! Hopefully I now only have 15 official working days to go - if HR agree!

baby has had his bum stuck under my ribs for days now (well I think its his bum) and is driving me mad, so uncomfortable and every now and again he will give it a wriggle teasing me! it really sticks out and looks like I have a 3rd boob from some angles!!

I haven't had any leaky boobs yet, nipples have gone really dark and freak DH out some nights (he is a boob man) - does anyone else DH want to try breast milk? mine does but it really freaks me out, I couldn't think of anything worse to try!

Had a rubbish day today. Health visitor came which I thought was odd - she said, ' oh I have come today as I visit ladies in the area about a month before their due date'. - Me, 'I am 21 weeks, not due until May?' - Her, 'Oh I have a due date of early February'. Me - 'No that was the due date for the baby I lost through miscarriage'....... Her - 'Oh'........

After that we sorted out the red book and talked about the tests they do but all I was thinking was how I would have felt receiving a letter for an appointment when I was not pregnant. I hope they get a better recording system.....

    Hope everyone else is ok....x

Sorry Zippy no idea on the Amazon thing.

I still havent even managed to get my Emmas diary I downloaded vouchers for, or sign up to boots to get the free changing bag,

Perhaps this type of thing is what Ill spend my mat leave doing!

Agreed with my boss today Ill take 1 weeks holiday, then start mat leave. And my 3 other weeks hol will get paid to me split up over the months, as I said if I do come back it wont be til next January anyway so the holiday year will have finished and she said shed rather pay it split up than in one go ( I guess as she'll be paying my replacement) but thats fine with me.

So roll on Feb 17th for hol and Feb 24th for leave!

Faerie I had decided on a girls name about 5 years ago lol, so DH knew if we had a girl that was going to be the name, he liked it too so no issues there. Then we agreed on a middle name a while back.

If it was going to be a boy I wanted Joshua and DH doesn't like it. There were no other names I liked. Anyway I said lets not argue about it because we might be having a girl. So we stopped talking about it, got told we were expecting a girl and that was that!

So if she pops out as a he, goodness knows what his name will be! The boy in the pink moses basket and clothing most likely lol!

I havent really had leaky boobs, only thing Ive noticed, once this morning and once a few weeks back, was putting a bra on this morning that I wore yesterday and seeing two tiny yellowy patches in it. But I mean theyre tiny!

Samtoby hugs for the reminder, there never seems to be joined up communication after a loss

MrsBunny that's what I did and definitely appreciated it, especially when you're not sleeping, gives you time to catch up

BigZ how are you doing? Hope you're still feeling well. What's the plan if you don't ask to be induced, are they going to let you go over?

Just broke my heart because I stepped on the cats tail whilst he was waiting for me to open the bathroom door. Poor DH, he's sat quietly on his pc when suddenly his pregnant wife is sobbing loudly over something that's happened a hundred times and didn't bother the cat lol

Mum came round earlier and made the very generous offer of buying our pram :D so lovely of them, we purchased it ages ago but they'll give us the money so we're going to buy a rocking chair with it and put the rest towards further baby purchases like bigger clothes and a monitor etc

Ooh and I've discovered that my oven has a setting for proofing dough, so I'll be having some fun experimenting with making bread whilst I'm waiting for little lady I think :)

Turns out I just needed to be more patient ;) They sent me the email with the code today, so I've just ordered it :D

Boots I would do sooner than later, as paper vouchers are what you need for the changing bag etc, and I used some of the other vouchers to get (for eg) my travel system much cheaper. The paper vouchers took a while to come through (weeks) and the 10 points per £1 have really stacked up for a nice little bonus to buy other bits with too.

I don't remember the Emma's diary thing being much cop for freebies or anything? But maybe I didn't fill out/send off whatever was necessary? The Bounty pack had more useful things in (trial size samples perfect for nappy bag and the hooded towels) IMO.

I forgot to say before, we did a bit of a home bump shoot on the weekend, playing around with DH and a few ideas I'd seen on google images. I'm so glad we did, some of them are really nice :) It's another thing I wasn't too fussed about til it was done! :D

I survived my day at work and only 23 works days to go ;)

Been going through the hospital bag lists and trying to create a list to work with. Last time DH brought up everything in the car so it looked like we'd moved in! So this time every day will have to be labelled.

Mrs Bunny - "does anyone else DH want to try breast milk? mine does but it really freaks me out, I couldn't think of anything worse to try!"
My best friend wanted to try my breastmilk last time but when actually offered couldn't do it. lol. It tastes like very sweet watery milk btw :)

Yay, more Oyster buddies! Can't wait to use mine! :j Con, the buggy bit is for 6 months onwards (although there's a little insert so I'm sure a younger baby could go in there...) but the carrycot is for use from day 1. I keep forgetting the knack to fold the frame down (it's really simple, but I just keep forgetting it!) and ended up in tears a few weeks ago because what kind of mother can't even fold up her own baby's pram?! :p I had to bite my tongue a few weeks ago as I saw that my friend had her 8 day old in a pushchair (pic on FB), not even lying down! Poor little thing looked so squished and uncomfortable and the straps were huge on him, even OH, who is pretty clueless, said 'Ooooh that doesn't look right! His poor neck is going to be screwed!' but we didn't dare say anything for fear of looking meddling or judgemental! :o

Poor baby, I too saw a pic on FB the other day that made me want to say something but didn't :( It was a baby of a friend of a friend.. baby was VERY premature and in neonatal a while... anyways baby is out now and doing fine. The pic was of baby sleeping in cot, very cute but there was so many teddies and toys and things surrounding him and it just looked unsafe. I know that having cot bumpers is a personal choice and it wasn't that, it was just baby clutter :( I'm hoping that it was maybe a pic posed with all the teddies people got the baby or something rather than baby sleeps like this regularly.

I'm ok :) Sore and knackered and sick of pregnancy congestion and swollen hands and feet, but looking so forward to finding out if we've got a little girl or a boy in there and what s/he looks like and so amazed that we're even getting this opportunity and that I get to feel my baby in my belly wriggling and kicking and such.... Overwhelmed - might sum it up? :p I just know how lucky I am, so I can't complain :D

I'm eager (ish) to get baby out, but also have to conserve my energy for the labour etc, so I'm torn between trying to do any walking etc and not... Midwife has suggested a S&S on Wednesday (EDD) at her other clinic (still seeing her Tuesday as per usual) but I'm thinking it wont be "favourable". And if it's not favourable for a S&S then chances are it wouldn't be for induction anyway, which would (from my understanding) up the risk of it ending in C Section anyway - which is what we're all trying to avoid (as it's expected I'd recover much worse than the 'norm')...so catch 22. :p Apparently my hospital routinely induce at +12, so I'll have 2 weeks today to evict, naturally or not, at most!

I think they're basically going by my wishes. If I'm struggling I can go for induction earlier, but I'm weighing it up on a daily basis. Midwife said my reasonings all sounded sound and sensible, which is reassuring. There's no point (in my mind) going for induction if it's going to be a long drawn out process, which would exhaust me more and up the likelihood of 'assisted delivery' anyway... And it would mean more stay in hospital, more without DH, and that would mean more anxiety, which doesn't help anything either. :o
Just broke my heart because I stepped on the cats tail whilst he was waiting for me to open the bathroom door. Poor DH, he's sat quietly on his pc when suddenly his pregnant wife is sobbing loudly over something that's happened a hundred times and didn't bother the cat lol
Lol, I cried my eyes out the other day because I couldn't work out how to hold my toast in the 'right' way! :rotfl:

Nice. If you want a quick and tasty trial run, I can recommend (Hugh Fernley-Whittingstall's recipe for) soda bread... you can add bits of herbs/onions/cheese/garlic/sundried tomatoes etc into the dough too - so yum when it's warm and really simple :D
