When should I be thinking about starting RL capsules? 35 weeks today and done absolutely nothing to get my body ready for labour!
I've got a £15 off £150/£10 off £100/£5 off £50 spend in store at M&P voucher valid from 3rd Feb - 2nd March if anyone would get any use out of it? We've done all of our big purchases (annoyingly a lot at M&P!) so won't use it but I can post it to someone if they want it.
Faerie, we really struggled with our boy's name. We've got one now but it's still not set in stone... it's such a huge thing, you're labelling your child for life, what if we get it wrong?!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
Well today is the first day of my annual leave before my mat leave starts at the end of the month!
Full of snot and cold today, ended up getting up at half 5 when hubby got up for work and then going back later for a nap- cue mass panic from family when nobody could get hold of me because I'd left my mobile downstairs and cordless had gone flat. lots of missed calls and fb messages when I woke up.
Went to bith workshop at our local hospital yesterday. Included a tour of the labour ward and post natal ward. Found it really useful and the midwife who took it was very down to earth and realistic- learnt loads and hubby said he found it worthwhile as well.
My legs and pelvis were killing me when we got in last night- think sitting in an upright chair and traipsing down corridoors aggravated my SPD.
Still in pain today- not helped by having to chase an escaped recycling box down the street. Paracetamol useless and the community midwife has said if I go into co-codamol I'll have to stay in for 2 days after birth for the baby to withdraw from it and she wont feed properly and be drowsy.
Popped onto my unit whilst in the hospital to see my colleagues which was lovely as I've been off sick for a few weeks.
No leakage here either which I was surprised at. Theres time yet though.April £5 a day challenge- £15.05/£1500 -
Just to add:

This link talks about eating dates helping labour. Not sure if I first read about this on here or somewhere else...
However, I realised yesterday that I had eaten loads and loads of dates in the 4 weeks prior to delivery, not trying to induce labour, just because I love them and there is loads about at Christmas.
May be worth a go for anyone getting impatient?
I had latent phase that passed completely unnoticed, basically went from waters breaking to half hour of strong contractions to pushing, 2 hours start to end, and to be honest, (whilst I would not call it comfortable) not really painful in the way that I was expecting. (it really is like pooing a rugby ball) :rotfl::rotfl:0 -
Birdie you're right it is a big responsibility - although I have literally just made up a name for our little one as I was booking a holiday and had to give everybody's initials :rotfl:Our DD's name wasn't even on the shortlist (we were "supposed" to have a red haired chubby baby, not a jet-black haired long skinny thing!) but none of the ones we'd thought of felt quite right. You do get 6 weeks to register the birth and can leave the space blank for up to 12 months after the birth if you really struggle though!0

Hello lovely pregnant ladies!
I've not posted this pregnancy - now at 32+5, but was on here a lot when I had my little girl nearly 2 years ago. Don't know how good I'll be at keeping up-to-date as I've still got 6 weeks at work but I'll give it a go!
I am expecting a baby boy, due 26th February. My daughter was born at 40+12 though so I'm not really expecting to see him until after then.
I wanted to say to those worrying about not leaking milk - it really doesn't matter, some people leak in pregnancy and some don't but it will be there when you need it. I had nothing at all with my daughter but colostrum was there when she was born and milk after 3 days or so (can't quite remember). I do remember that I would leak a lot every time she cried! She bf til 20 months. This pregnancy however I have had leaks since 29 weeks
And I have an oyster - tomato colour pack I think, which we have used for the last couple of years. It is wearing pretty well (although we don't offroad with it). Fitted fine in the boot of my 3 door clio, folds up nice and small and light. We had the carrycot on for a while then moved that indoors for a downstairs sleeping area (someone suggested that, it is handy) and she went into the pushchair bit for out and about.:heartpuls Daughter born January 2012 :heartpuls Son born February 2014 :heartpuls

Mrs TM, if you're struggling to get comfort bras that fit, how about vests with 'hidden support' that you can pop breast pads in? Or, since you're only worrying about leakage at home, just pop some toilet paper/kitchen roll down your top?! Better than nothing!
I have one tank top with hidden 'support' (what a joke of a term for those of us who will jiggle no matter how much support we have!), plus one that is fitted, so that may be an option. I think I can still fit into them, at least for now.mincepiemonster wrote: »Mrs TM - no advice on the leaking I'm afraid, hopefully it will settle down in time. I'm sure you know about applying back pressure to make it stop (ie crossing arms over your chest or if you're in private just squashing boobs whichever way is easier :rotfl:), as bfing works on supply and demand this can also help your body to know it's not appropriate to be producing milk at that time.
I'll typically just grab 1-2 squares of toilet roll and shove them onto the nipple area and hold them in place tightly for a few minutes. The leaking never lasts more than about 2-3 seconds, but wow at how much can come out in those few seconds!Faerie, we really struggled with our boy's name. We've got one now but it's still not set in stone... it's such a huge thing, you're labelling your child for life, what if we get it wrong?!
We decided to go ahead and start looking at names (I'm only 17 weeks today!) because it took me nearly two months to name my bunny.
I think we will have a list of names picked out, but wait until after the little one is here to actually name it. and like mincepiemonster said, you can wait a bit to decide!0 -
Just back from another s&s, she says there's not been much change since she saw me on Thursday
but that everything is ready to go. She's advised me to try nipple stimulation to try to get the contractions going! Oh joy! So not only has s3x become perfunctory, but now my boobs are too....sooo not attractive! I am opting for the eating cream cakes method of induction whilst twiddling nipples lol

When should I be thinking about starting RL capsules? 35 weeks today and done absolutely nothing to get my body ready for labour!
I started from 36 weeks with my 1st and 2nd. With my first I only drank the tea and tbh I don't think it did anything. I went 10 days over and it was a really hard labour and I needed an episiotomy and ventouse assistance. I probably could have drank more, but I kept forgetting.
On my second if you haven't read my post from yesterday it was very fast! Around 2.5 hrs compared to about 32 hrs. I drank the tea and I took the capsules from Holland & Barrett. I again kept forgetting, but I did take more than the first time and I think it worked so I would suggest getting some tablets. I struggled to push the first time, but I do think that they helped strengthen my uterus as it only took a few pushes and DD2 was out!Got married 13/11/10

My boobs havent really changed v much either Squirrel. DH reckons they look bigger, but dont really feel it ! I've gone up froma 34 to a 36 but do still have some 34s that fit comfortably.
Getting fed up of this sick malachy. 38 weeks on thursday and still sick EVERY DAY. I'm also getting fed up of people telling me it's meant to stop after 3 months. Erm, I passed that mark a while ago sunshine!
Ha I had that too -' have you tried ginger biscuits? Have you tried travel bands? Really, you're still being sick shouldn't that have stopped by 12 weeks?'
I was like if you knew how many times I've thrown up various things like ginger biscuits whilst wearing those stupid bands!!
Thankfully my vomiting stopped at 21 weeks but nausea hasn't ever gone & then I threw up the other weekend so a bit worried it's coming back.
I mainly was sick in the sink or this kitchen jug (which is no longer used for food lol) because for some reason just seeing the toilet made me feel even more sick! And started to hurt my back.firefly369 wrote: »Squirrel - My boobs haven't changed or leaked at all and I am 37 weeks tomorrow. I have been worrying that I won't be able to breast feed.
Jemb - Still sick everyday, thats horrible. Is there nothing the docs can give you?

afm. Another appointment at the diabetic clinic today, ho hum. Another 45 minute trek to the hospital for a 5 minute appointment. Don't know why they don't just let me keep going until something changes.
Next week I am back at antenatal for growth scan, consultant and poss. sweep!. Its too early, I'm not ready, I'm only number 5 on the list.
Don't worry my friend had barely any boob changes til her milk came in & I know she was still breast feeding at 9 months.0
