RE Cot bed skirt... before I made it (so it matched the other fabric...OCD?!?!) I used a cot sized flat sheet (from Mum's loft) which was just the right length, and tucked halfway under the mattress. That would have done the job perfectly if I didn't want it to match. :)
also, depending on your cot bed you might only need to do one side. The ends of ours are solid and the gap is only about 6", so it would be pretty pointless to do, however, on the long side, there's an 18" gap.

Yeah I guess you could just trap a piece of fabric couldnt you, and just sew a hem along the bottom.

You haven't had the easiest of pregnancies, in fairness. I can understand how you'd be easily rattled with anything they have to say that isn't 100% positive

    Thanks Zippy :)

I dont like to moan but I have felt like its just been one thing after another and as soon as one problem finishes another one promptly takes it place. And its not a like whinging moan, it's just a 'Im petrified about something going wrong' moan.

It didn't help last night we went to a wedding reception and people kept saying 'Oh what a nice small bump.' (even though it feels huge to me!) I was trying to console myself by the fact it was mostly from men or women who had never been pregnant, and the fact that I wasnt even measuring small for my dates its just the midwife put the worry into my head before I explained about the late ovulation and now Im worried whats going to happen on Wednesday when she measures it again and what if nothing has changed.

Hi all, I'm just after a bit of advice. I'm 19+3 with second baby. I'm posting here because there seems to be more activity here at the moment.

I have been feeling regular movements for about 2 weeks, before that was just flutters. Anyway I've not felt anything at all since yesterday morning, not even last night and baby is usually most active in the early evening. I'm planning to have a cold fizzy drink and lie on my let side for a bit and I'm wondering if I don't feel anything after that I if I should phone someone. I'm worried they are just going to tell me it's too early to be worried about reduced movements.

What do you lovely ladies think?

When I had the bleeding at the hospital when I was 20 and 21 weeks, they still asked me was the baby moving in a way that was normal for me. Every dr I saw asked me this and the dr said to me there was a list of reasons why they want you to come back in/come in the first place and two were bleeding, less movement, and he didnt say anything about it being too early or making me out to be being silly.

I mean it is early in the sense that your baby is probably fine because 19 weeks is 'early' but the dr said to me whats important is to go off whats normal for you.

So dont worry about what they might think, the dr said to me he'd much rather someone just came in and they gave them a check and sent them home, than had them sitting at home worrying.

Cllola I'm sure everything is fine, I still find that if I'm busy I don't notice movements as much, so cold drink and relaxing sounds like a plan but I have seen people say they felt movement for a few days then nothing early on and then scan showed everything was fine

I also have worries about everything being ok but thinking negatively does me no good so I try my best to think positively instead and concentrate on wondering what she'll look like, will she feed well, will she sleep etc

Managed to sleep last night for 12 hours only waking up once at 7.30 for a wee. Feel really disoriented, I haven't slept through the night in months and months. Need to figure out how I managed it so I can repeat lol

    Thanks ladies :o

On a completely unrelated note... I signed up for Amazon family at the end of December and it said I'd get a voucher code for the Lamaze foot finder and hand rattles set, but I've never had an email or anything with a code in...? Can anyone shed any light?

    Afternoon ladies,

Teamlowe - after moaning about lack of sleep last week, for the last 2 nights I have slept right through for at least 10 hours!!! I do think it is because I went back to work on Thursday & Friday and they just totally knackered me, I sit at a desk all day, not exactly physical work but mentally it is tiring.

Also, my DH has had to leave the bedroom to sleep on the sofa the last two nights as I have been snoring very loudly....I never snore so I have found it really funny each morning. DH said he could hear me last night from the sofa....whoops. I do have abit of a stuffy nose but that's it....babies fault!

We were looking at our old photos last night from when we travelled newzealand in 2008. Nice slim me in size 8-10 clothes, DH nice and slim without his beer baby belly......DH said he forgot we looked like that and after baby is born he is going to help me get down to size. Will take a long while, I reckon at least 6 stone to lose as was a size 16 before I got pregnant. He is busy researching gyms for me and planning when I can have 'me' time. He too is starting a fitness plan from tomorrow, joining a local running club and giving up the beer which is his main downfall.

It's nice he is so motivated....let's hope it continues well into 2014 and by Christmas we will be much slimmer and healthier. My aim is to get down to a size 12 by then.

Kerri - hope the little lady will make an appearance soon, must be very annoying.

It's taken me a while to get around to posting, but Alice Evelyn was born at 1.32am on Thurs 28th Nov 2013, she was 40+7.

She is my second baby, but the first one took so long to come out that I was possibly a bit too laid back in regards to her entry to the world!! My first daughter took almost 32 hours, second daughter was a bit more impatient and took about 2.5 hours?!?!

I'd had a few contractions on the Wed night, but they were very far apart and infrequent so we just went to bed, by around half eleven they were getting very close and quite painful, but last thing I wanted was to go to the hospital and be turned away like last time. I then told DH to ring MIL as we should go to the hospital, but the time she arrived I was in agony and struggled to get down the stairs.

I was in the loo and I said there was blood- the show/plug? I couldn't really reassure DH that it was normal as I couldn't talk much so he rang 999 they sent an ambulance.

Long story short the paramedics managed to get me in the ambulance DH was trying to leave me in the back so that he could get in his car and follow the ambulance to the hospital. I wouldn't let him by shouting "There's no time, I can feel the head coming!!". After about 3 big pushes little Alice made her entry into the world at the top of my driveway in the back of the ambulance!!

The little bundle of joy then evacuated her bowels onto my belly during skin to skin!!

The mw came and helped me deliver the placenta, checked the baby and me, then said everything was fine so we then went back into the house. I had a shower and then went to bed! :rotfl:

So if any of you have managed to read this far I hope your births are as quick and easy as mine!!

Lola888 - the birth story made me well up! Congratulations.

Jox - hope your ok and wednesday goes well. My little boy was born just before 37 weeks and he was 7lb 12oz after they had told me he was going to be around 5lb! I honestly think sometimes there is no telling.

TeamLowe and MrsBunny - glad you managed to get some sleep now! Long may it continue!

AFM - with all this talk of concerns it has reminded me it is coming up to the due date of the baby I lost in July. I know I am pregnant now but I can't help looking at the list and seeing I would have been quite near the top now. Whilst I am eternally greatful I fell so quickly again, I really don't think I will stop worrying until she is in my arms. And then its all new worry! I think we all have our worries and it doesn't matter what your worry is, it still plays on our minds. We bought a rose bush after my operation and I am going to plant it after the new fence goes in, spring time. It is just in a pot at the moment but its a lovely colour.

I haven't heard from my friend who was going in for her induction yesterday - but I have no idea how long they can take I am sure she said it could take days! She said she will message me as soon as she can but I said to her - don't worry you message me when you are READY to. She said she won't tell anyone but close family and me and another friend as she doesn't trust people with facebook - but her wall has already got loads of comments saying she hasn't been online bla bla bla bla but they don't know she has gone in for an induction

Gosh there's been a few babies being born in a hurry recently hasn't there! Great story though Lola and glad you are doing well.

Re baby movements; I have days when I feel like she's dancing non stop from morning through til night and then I have other days where she's much quieter. I always get a little bit het up on those days but as long as I feel movement in general I try not to worry too much. I think this pattern must be fairly normal for me. I'm seeing my midwife tues morning and hoping that all my measurements are okay. I don't feel like I've grown that much in last 3 weeks despite all the Christmas food!

Also just a quick question, what detergent is everyone using for washing baby clothes prior to their arrival? I've just ordered a bundle of cute sleep suits off eBay so they'll need washing and ironing but I want to make sure using the best stuff for babies skin!!!

Congratulations Lola, and wow what a birth story!

Squ1rrel - I wash all of our clothes and baby's with ecoleaf, it doesn't contain anything nasty. OH complains if he puts his training kit in and uses the fabric conditioner as it doesn't get his sweaty ick out, but I wash his training stuff using vinegar as the fab softener and no complaints then ;)

I've just finished the quilt and the topponcino :D The manuri mobile is just finished drying so I'm off to make the dancers mobile and the octahedron one :) figured if little miss isn't going anywhere then I may as well finish everything off. Have ordered a hanging basket bracket from fleabay to arrive next week (OH can put that on the wall). I shall go take some photos of the nursery now I feel it's finished (other than bracket for the mobile ;) )
