Kerri_dwf - that sounds like slow labour to me too. My friend is going in for her induction today (she is sick of people writing on her FB and texting her too!) as the sweep was not sucessful she is 1-2cm but the cervix is still long (no idea what that means I am sure someone told me it has to be like a doughnut but anyway) she is dreading being induced but she is nearly 42 weeks. I do hope your walk does something more. I struggle with walking the dog a couple of miles as I get out of breath (I used to work miles) but hoping to keep plodding dog can still run circles round me, right?

bigzippy - you are pretty close now too - time flies! I remember when you were on the ttc thread!

mrshappy - have you found the heartbeat easily?

Mrs_T_M - I hope you are getting on ok - I saw your bump picture I only lurk on the other thread but lovely bump coming on! Hope baby enjoyed your coffee tee hee :) - you may have mentioned it on the other thread but have you had anymore from Midwife about your homebirth drama - did you tick the box lol :)

Sexki11en - nice to see you from the other thread. I am expecting a little girl too. How are you getting on?

AFM - still editing my essay on anti-social behaviour. No power yesterday so I was holted but I AM going to finish it today. I just need to add one more bit the tutor has advised me on. Our little one must like me studying she is moving lots, all be it all on one side; mind you it is always on the right side I never feel much on the left - sure I will soon.

Decided to make myself a cup of coffee, mainly so that I wouldn't fall back asleep in an hour or two, but also to get baby to move a bit. I slept through the normal boogie time of 10 am this morning! Went into the kitchen, started making said cup of coffee, while it was brewing, I put ingredients into our new to us bread maker for pizza dough. Before I could even pour the coffee into my cup, baby was kicking away again! I'm still going to enjoy my coffee though. ;)

I'm rather jealous of this, I have to admit! I'm one day ahead of you and have felt nothing. I know that people don't feel anything until even 20+ weeks though so I'm not worried or anything.

Fortunately (I say fortunately for OH's sanity!!!) I have an Angelsounds doppler, it's getting easier and easier to find the heartbeat now and you can hear him/her doing little karate kicks, arm swings and whatever so that's ok for me for now! Can't wait to get booted in the belly by baby for the first time though :rotfl:

    :o Thanks.

Don't know if baby enjoyed the coffee, but I sure did! Gave mom a call and talked to her for an hour and a half. First thing she asked, "have you had caffeine?!" :rotfl:

I haven't spoken to, nor seen anyone but the sonographer since my 8 week appointment! I have a doctors appointment at the hospital this coming Tuesday, but no one will tell me what it's for. I've ticked the home birth box in my book myself, and they can just shove it if they want to argue! There is a very very short list of complications that IF they arise (doubtful) during my pregnancy, I'll go into hospital. Otherwise, I'm staying home. Really don't fancy a half hour bus journey while I'm in major labour!

I've been feeling things since 14 weeks. I'm extremely sensitive to touch in/on my belly (which makes trapped wind an extreme pain in the you know where...). I've also already got slightly leaky boobs, which is something I wasn't looking forward to. :o

DH and family still think it's twins and that one was just hiding behind the other during the scan. Sometimes it feels that way with the discos and raves it's having! It probably isn't twins, but I haven't discounted it completely. That would be my luck, having two but only being able to see one on the scans due to my flab! :rotfl:

I have found it fairly quickly 2 out of the 3 times I have used it. The time I didn't I was sitting up instead of lying down, so not sure if that made a difference.

We bought a second hand crib that needed repainting (£10 on facebook) but when hubby started sanding he got a bit carried away, so now he's taking it back to bare wood to briwax it. I also have 2 chests of drawers that need waxing, and was about to get started when I read the tin which saus "May cause harm to the unborn child." Urgh! That means I have to wait til he gets home to do it.

Just to say Ive been looking at nursery paint recently, and came across this company which I might order the paint from, but they also do paint that is suitable for cots if you havent got any yet i.e no nasty chemicals and certified to the same standards that toys are, for when the baby decides to chow down on the bars :)

Thanks Claire... we saw that when looking. Our cot bed could really do with repainting, but I'm not worrying about that right now.
For the crib we are using just a wax finish. Baby is unlikely to chew those bars (we'll move baby into cotbed when they are pulling up etc) and briwax is non-toxic when cured. My Grandad woodturns and he uses it to finish his salad bowls, so I know it's ok.

I was looking for something to cover up all the toys etc that I'm storing under the cotbed, but I couldn't face making anything complicated... I found the following on Pinterest and I've just made it in about half an hour from a curtain offcut... it's fab! and it can be adjusted when we move the bed base down. http://www.viewalongtheway.com/2012/04/silliest-little-adjustable-crib-skirt-tutorial-on-the-web/
I may have just enough fabric left from the other curtain to do the end of the cotbed that is exposed too, but the other end has a chest of drawers next to it, so I won't do that one. I am sooooo excited about this nursery! It's so fresh and lovely. :)

Hope things get going properly for you soon Kerri.
My doppler came a couple of days ago so had another wee shot last night, can't for the life of me get it to record onto the laptop though.
Next time the lists are being done can I be added please?
mrshappy-EDD 30th May 14-Team yellow (this may change after our 20 wk scan on 13th Jan!)

Today I am enjoying having the house to myself, hubby is at work and the teenager is out for the day, I should probably do some ironing and start getting ready for going back to work on Monday, bleurgh

ETA-ooops, cross posted with BZ and the new list :) no rush, I'll get on it whenever, thanks
You've been added ;) And I was very happy to do so :D:j

I'm shattered today. I could do a nap but concerned it would mess with my new found ability to sleep for at least some of the night...

emz118 - think that cot skirt idea is a great idea!

bigzippy - I have started waking in the night for the toilet. Can't imagine how many times I will be up when I am near the due date!

  • All this talk about labour etc has got me thinking and after a quick look at the other threads (I love seeing how the others are getting on), I noticed that they were talking about booking antenatal classes and have now gone into full blown panic mode!

My MW hasn't mentioned anything to me and is on AL now so my next appointment will be with another MW. I'm under the impression that the NHS ones get fully booked early. Does anyone have any advice?

I have found the form to book, printed it out and have started filling it out but not sure if I'm too late/early. I'm 26 +5 now if that helps.

I'm starting to get a headache just thinking about all of this
