I'm hoping to work until 2 weeks before due date, so the 16th May, but I have already been told that I will be induced at around 39 weeks, so if I have to finish earlier I will. I have already started reducing my workload and am not taking on new cases so I hope that by May I will just be clearing out my desk/filing cabinet/shelves etc rather than being out in the community.

    morning ladies,

I have been shouting out for a few weeks now with my hip pain in bed when turning over, it is so painful, DH always asked if I am ok and I just wimper yes! There isn't much he can do.

DH started to get practical last night (well for him), he gave me a landline number for his work as they have now introduced a mobile ban except for break time and in return I gave him all the numbers in my maternity notes even thou I keep telling him that's where he will find them! he wants me to write them out a few times and add to the notice board in kitchen, on top of my hospital bag and another for the bed side table.....think its starting to dawn on him he needs to be organised!!

off to the hospital today for my scan, looking forward to seeing little man again, hope he behaves. slightly scared if they tell me hes a little on the big side / want to induce me early (so far no plans) etc I know I am just worrying for no reason but you do don't you!?

really looking forward to my baby shower on Saturday which my sister is holding for me. more of just the female members of the family getting together as only 1 of my friends can make it. My female inlaws are coming up from Shropshire and it will be nice to see all the family together again as last time was at our wedding.

Faith 2009 - I've got HV appt today at local children's centre. I think it will be a waste of time but I'll go anyway. HVs were rubbish with DD2. All I had was one visit at home to say these are the details for baby groups at SureStart. Then when I moved to this area, I haven't seen a single one apart from DD2s 2 year check (they suspended the 1yr check for a while).

ETA - good luck with your scan MrsBunny

Good luck for the scan mrs bunny!

Leg cramp - I've had it loads when my hip pain wakes me up at night and I turn over, it feels like my back stomach & legs are tight so I like tense the muscles which helps but I have to watch not to tense my calves or it will start a cramp! One night I did leap out the bed with it.

We discussed it at nct last week & the teacher said it sounds crazy but she has 3 kids and on the 3rd child someone told her to put cork in the bed like from a wine bottle etc and she said obviously may just be con incidence but she didn't get any cramp after that, she said I know it sounds really silly but no harm in trying it! Just means your DH would be needing to drink wine but mine hates it! I guess you could try a cork coaster or something lol!

Lush I've had belly button pain before, thankfully not for a while.

After plans for lunch and shops yesterday, I didn't leave the house after all.... Just got to lunchtime and was feeling super tired so decided not to overdo it. I did loads more washing and a bit of sorting out. Went through my big bag of bounty and nhs leaflets and freebies and chucked the rubbish, stored the freebies and filed the useful paperwork away.

Supermarket delivery is coming this morning and might go into town this afternoon, but no big plans.

Just heard from one of the NCT girls that one of the others who had her baby last week lost lots of blood with post delivery complications and was put in a coma in intensive care for two days... Really feel for her as she was one of the girls most nervous about the birth and hospital experience. Also scaring the hell out of me re what is to come! Sorry wasn't sure whether to post that (and scare others) but needed somewhere to get it off my chest...
Does anybody else's belly button hurt? It's not all the time but when I lie a certain way, for example, I get a sharp pulling type pain in mine :S

Yes, my tum is different on different days, sometimes it's fine and I will suggest a family member presses harder to feel kicks, other days my tum will lightly brush against something (eg the kitchen counter when I'm cooking) and it will be sore... Will keep moisturising and look forward to having my tum back to myself!

I've also suffered with calf cramp a little in the pregnancy (and the middle of the night shouting!) and was advised to drink more water.

    Best wishes all... X

I've had horrible cramps in my feet this pregnancy. I used to get calf cramps when I was a little girl, and my Nan told me to put a cork in my bed, just as Claire suggests. It did work, but I rather assumed it was a placebo rather than anything else ;)

I'm also having hip problems turning over in bed. I get stuck sometimes :(

    Morning all,

I too get the "jump out of bed screeching and hopping around" legs cramps too!! :D As claire said its worse if I try to tense my calf.
I think I get it worse if I've rolled onto my back whilst sleeping, I must be cutting off the blood supply to that leg!

Not heard anything about heath visitors yet.

OH is doing more decorating to the nursery today, skirts and window sills are now glossed. A floor board needs replacing and then we can crack on with the painting.
I've rather ambitiously decided to do a winnie the pooh theme, with me painting the characters on the wall. So all OH has to do is the background sky and grass. This is my inspiration... hope it turns out even half as good!! http://projectnursery.com/projects/winnie-the-pooh-nursery/

Finally ordered a moses basket and a carry cot mattress last night. So I *think* that's the last practical thing we meed apart from chest of draws, curtains and carpet.

Feels strange having my hospital bag in the car already, but with working an hour from home its reassuring to know that if anything did happen I'd be ok in an emergency.

Glad it's not just me with the cramps! I get hip pain too and find it hard to turn over, usually takes me a few attempts and sometimes I have to wedge a pillow under my bum to help leverage! I was in mid turn last night when the cramps hit! Had to try and stretch my calf out with OH pushing my toes in! Oh the romance!
Why does pregnancy make you feel like you're about 90 sometimes???

Wow Sjlou, can't believe you're so organised with your bag in the car! I've been trying to mine but can't quite bring myself to get it together properly as to me that's the sign that everything is imminent!!!

Our Moses basket arrived yesterday, that was our last biggish purchase too so everything is finally coming together!!
