Huge Congrats Firefly and BZ :j

Love your photo BZ. He is gorgeous :)

Feels like I have so long to go ....... 5 wks although I am slightly worried as baby seems to have dropped and I'm worried he may come early. As well as that I am huge and my belly button has popped out  that never happened with either of my girls.

Thanks for the Pumpkin Patch info and the Morrisons pampers offer. I do have a Morrisons near me but don't know if I can face taking DD2 to the supermarket. It's as if they know when they walk over the threshold that this is the place for a complete toddler meltdown :D

Faith2009 - I thought it was just me who was weird when I was at the swimming pool today and loved the smell of the chlorine....them I thought I probs shouldn't be inhaling this so much :o

  • Ohh I'm interested in the pampers/morrisons offer and of course everyone's news etc, so will pm my email address Becca!

Just came home to a letter from the Health Visiting Service. I have an appointment to see them at the local community centre next week. Seems really strange to see them before the birth. Anyone else had this?

I was at first feeling a little hostile (poss hormonal a too!) as I only really hear bad things about them but have seen online that this is sometimes policy in some areas.

So glad my love for the smell of chlorine and bleach is more common then originally thought :)

    I've been Money Tipped!
Faith - I met my health visitor at 32 weeks. She said its a new thing in our area but basically I think they were just checking I'm not a drug dealer or something! She also talked about feeding but it was just general chit chat.., bit of a waste of time!

Have sent email invites to everyone asking to be added to the fb page x

I was the same (and lots of the other women in our NCT group were also wary) :rotfl: but a pre-birth visit is completely normal around here. As it happens the HV was very pleasant and asking pretty sensible questions to gauge whether we'd need any extra support in the postnatal period. DH asked her looooads of questions and she really helped to reassure him and was able to take plenty of time, rather than the midwife who was always rushed.

I know they sometimes get a bad reputation online, but they're not mandatory so if you don't get on with your HV you can always ask to see someone else or just opt to go to the clinics instead. As with any professional, I think it depends on the individuals as to whether you're going to get on and find them helpful.

Faith when the HV came to see us she explained that what she said then would otherwise be part of the first visit after birth, so it was to cut down the time taken then. It's a general wellbeing appointment to make sure you have support, aren't suffering from antenatal depression and are claiming any benefits you're entitled to etc.

I'm surprised it's at a clinic rather than in your home as I thought they used it as a chance to check there was no dangers in the home- ie mine asked about smoke detectors. But this may be because my postcode includes a deprived area so more attention is paid than in other areas.

I found it quite helpful as she went through what would happen visit wise once baby was here from them and the midwives so I knew what to expect, even if she did ask philosophical questions like how we wanted to parent our child lol x

  • Does anybody else's belly button hurt? It's not all the time but when I lie a certain way, for example, I get a sharp pulling type pain in mine :S

    Ninth Anniversary Combo Breaker
Hi all, late one tonight for me but I had a long lie and didn't go in work til afternoon as was feeling a bit off.

Been to our local Mamas and Papas tonight and def wanting the star wallpaper still ( timbuktales) some of the reviews aren't great but they told me I would get a full refund if its rubbish ( getting someone in to do it) only getting it on one wall so hopefully it will be nice as I really am heart set on it.

Also saw lots of lovely matching items but they weren't on sale in the store and they are online so I didn't buy any.

OHs mum was up tonight whilst I was out, i've been left orders to text her tommorrow and discuss a date to go pick carpet ( they're very kindly paying) :) so the nursery is under way kind of :D

Poor hubby I think I gave him a good old fright in the night. Woke up about 1.30 and as I tried to turn in bed I got the most painful cramp in my leg.
I couldn't help but shout out in pain... I didn't think it was that loud but must have been! Hubby was up like a shot, I think he thought I was in labour!!! Bless him, he sleeps so light these days and anything unusual from me he's totally alert! Hope it works when the time comes!

I've not suffered with cramp for years, not sure how I got it last night? Calf muscles still feel a bit stiff and sore now :(

I'm sure leg cramp is quite common in pregnancy, I had it a lot last time-the shooting out of bed and jumping around type-and have had it a couple of times in the last few weeks, but not as sore, but there is plenty of time for that to change!

Hope everyone is well, my next "milestone" is organising my mat leave and getting it in writing to work. Hubby and I aren't quite agreeing on how much money we can afford to lose when trying to work out a return date though!
