I added to my previous post to mention the point (was a bit slow though).

My IPhone 5 deal was comparable to what I could get the One for so for me there wasn't a premium.

I went for iPhone this time as I was fed up of laggy apps I had to force close, top end Android handsets were getting too big, plus I simply fancied a change as I had been an Android user since mid-09.

If there was a huge price difference maybe I would have stuck with Android.

You will have to provide some figures on that one
I paid way less for the One(with cashback) on an 18 month deal vs a 5
    personal choice is fine.

I'm pretty sure i jailbreaked my iphone 5S last week with Evasi0n. Or perhaps i did it in my dreams? :rotfl:

Jailbreak? Doesn't that mean its lacking something?

I only jailbreaked my iphone to put my own theme, no different to Android users rooting their handset to get rid of the bloatware. The amount of bloatware on the lenovo K900... sheesh

I just love it when people praise their iPhones then admit to jail breaking them (to work like Androids do):rotfl:. And, just a hunch, but maybe the huge amount of bloatware on the Lenovo was to blame for the apparent lag you were experiencing? My (almost stock) £89 Android phone running Jelly Bean but soon to be KitKat is very smooth in operation.

When you jailbreak an iPhone, it's still an iPhone isn't it?

Lock screen notifications, lock screen music controls, a browser that fits content to the screen, silent switch on the side of the device, music and game volumes confusingly tied together and ignore silent mode of phone, no desktop media manager etc etc. All 'normal user' stuff missing from Android.

Lock screen music controls are available for Android Devices. Lock screen notifications are also available?

Back to the OP. For half the cost of many phones out there you could pick yourself up a Nexus 4 or 5 . Both very powerful and a good all round device. Nexus phones are very cheap for the specs. Super screens and the like.

It will depend what you want to do with your phone. The Z1will be best for a camera, the Nokia Lumia range have a good set of camera phones.

Keep in mind with iPhones that all the parts come from various places. The camera will probably be from Sony but won't be their best lens.Apple devices are more expensive but it doesn't mean it is the best.

Over The Air updates have been a long standing thing with Android so don't take things from either as being an exclusive feature. Both platforms are good at things and bad. Apple is really only compatible with Apple where as Android is very much open so you can do what you want. That doesn't mean you have to be a tech wizard, you either take advantage or you don't of the ability to customise your device.

One thing that is quite important for me is external storage on my tablet. Last year I went to Canada and wanted all my pics on my tablet. Simply took the SD card out and slipped it in my tablet. No wires, no computer or laptop. My phone however, external storage isn't important as my music is stored with Google Music and I stream it in with the option of storing it on my phone if I'll be nowhere near a network.

That is one of the great things about Android, more choice and control over what you do. The good things with Apple devices are you get more choice with docking stations but then Bluetooth and NFC have more or less got that covered. Their customer service is also very good.

I will not be getting involved with any discussions from narrow minded people who think their bloody phone is better than mine.

    but I'm confused
Android users are happy with having the benefit of personalising their device
I thought the whole Iphone argument was it was perfect from the box?

I'm even more confused - If Android users are happy with out of the box experience (like you say) then why do many root their phones? and where did i say iphone is a perfect phone? Like many i find iOS far smoother than Android, just like many will find android better than ios. The reason i jailbreak isn't for simply changing the colour of the desktop, i wanted a completely different theme where icons are a different shape/layout/behave differently...something i'm sure can't be done on any android phone out of the box either.

Android users who want COMPLETE control root their devices.
iOS users who want COMPLETE control jailbreak their devices.

I said the exact opposite. It is the Apple experience that is perfect' out the box' according to posters here
    Android allows customisation
Look on the Play store for launchers if its theme tweaking you want
