Geeky how? Its a general comment on one of the widely recognised downsides of Android - that the higher specs that many top end Android devices have (and are often put forward by Android users as a benefit) do not result in consistently higher performance. This wasn't a point that was being discussed - the argument essentially being "IOS is better", "no, Android is better" - so I thought I would bring it up.

As for screen size, which screen size is best is down to the end user. If you want a huge screen that is more cumbersome and less pocketable but are happy for this to be a trade off for the larger screen then fine. I personally prefer a smaller device than say the Nexus 5 and the trade off for me is a smaller screen to view videos on etc. To each their own.

but the poster in question isnt getting into specs
So screen size is moot given the Iphone gives no choice.
The argument isnt which is better. it is if the Iphone 5 is worth the premium price.
IMO if its down to factors such as some Android handsets not having lock screen notifications. Then it isnt
look at the HTV One vs 5 comparison I posted

The point I was making though was about user experience. I was merely saying that Apple at present provide a more consistently smooth experience - the talk of specs was to put some meat on the bones of the point (ie even the very top end Android devices can be laggy, let alone the mid spec or horrendous low end end ones).

And I didn't mention screen size until you asked me.

As for price premium, my iPhone 5 deal is the same as I could get the One for, so in my case I'm happy.

So does the possibility of a laggy app make it worth the extra?
    Or what else is there?
I have yet to see a killer feature to make me want to ditch my HTC One(probably the most Iphone comparable handset at present)

When you realise that the most expensive component in the vast majority of mobile phones is the screen/display, and then you see that you can get a £99, beautifully built and specced Android phone from a major manufacturer with not only a bigger screen than is on the iPphone 5S but also one that matches it on the all important (to Apple) ppi not to mention beats it on resolution then surely there can only be one real answer to the question posed in the OP? And Apple diehards who cling to the 'Android is laggy' mantra clearly haven't used an Android phone with a new version of the OS on board. It's simply a redundant argument and one which I suspect is used to try and deflect away from the fact they have effectively paid proper top end money for a mid tier phone.

I added to my previous post to mention the point (was a bit slow though).

My IPhone 5 deal was comparable to what I could get the One for so for me there wasn't a premium.

I went for iPhone this time as I was fed up of laggy apps I had to force close, top end Android handsets were getting too big, plus I simply fancied a change as I had been an Android user since mid-09.

If there was a huge price difference maybe I would have stuck with Android.

Not an Apple die-hard, the 5 is my first iPhone after 4 years of Android phones (I left on Jellybean). I like Android very much but I'm not blind to it's shortcomings.

The Moto G is a game changer though. What you get compared to some handsets a lot more expensive is astounding.

And frighteningly for not only Apple but also other Androiud super manufacturers like Samsung and HTC I genuinely think Moto G is just the start of Google's new initiative. With the acquisition of Motorola, Google not only have all those lovely patents (000s by all accounts) but also a manufacturing arm (albeit unofficial). And when a company like Google are happy to put out hardware for little or no initial profit then the game really has been changed. If they can build a phone like the Moto G and sell it for £100 what about if they next decide to build a £200 phone using the same philosophy? Scary times for the 'competition' whether it be Windows, IOS or Android.

people go on about processor speeds, however do they actually know what it means. Also does their phone have the software to run at the speeds.
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

Well i recently purchased a Lenovo K900 android handset from UAE which has pretty impressive specs. Very happy with my thinkpad bombproof laptop which is why I went for a Lenovo smartphone. Even though the K900 is an amazing phone to hold and to look at, many Android apps feel laggy (despite running latest Android OS) so i immediately went back to my iphone 5S. Before you ask, the K900 cost me nearly £400 so hardly a cheap budget phone. No thanks, i'll stick to iphones and even though they might be overpriced at least you get a smooth user experience in iOS instead of the hotch-potch that is known as Android.
