  • I got a sellotape dispenser one year. (Not a fancy one, just a regular dark blue plastic one). It was from my parents, and I was about 13 I think. Still have no idea why they thought that'd be something appropriate for me to find under the Christmas tree... I of course lived at home and we already had a sellotape dispenser that we could all use, so why would they think I needed a personal one I don't know. Especially since usually I do get fairly thoughtful gifts from them... Ah well :)

Looking through my old threads today - id forgotten about this one! So, how did everyone fair up this year?

This years choice gift for us was a very realistic looking turd from my lovely cousin! Complete with plastic flies! Other than that nothing too horrendous :)

I had a paper mache cat ring holder given me. One with an extra long tail. Its orange and red and ugly. I am going to chalk paint it or decoupage it so its liveable.

I received a box of broken biscuits & this from a friend who recently inherited quite a large sum that would set many people up for life!

I wouldn't mind, but boxes of non broken biscuits can be bought quite cheaply in most supermarkets. Anyway, I felt quite insulted & biscuits went straight into the bin.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

Not this year, but I once got a box of chocolate-covered nuts and a book called "The Poison Principle" (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Poison-Principle-Gail-Bell/dp/0333989155/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1420233128&sr=8-1&keywords=The+Poison+Principle) - from a work colleague who knew I am fatally allergic to nuts...

I'm not really one who thinks that Christmas should be mostly about presents - but even I have to admit that wasn't my favourite amongst that year's haul... ;)

Can anyone suggest a use for the magnetic tax disc holder I was given this year now we don't need tax discs?

Might have been nicer to give the biscuits to a food bank, even if you didn't want them, someone would have appreciated them..

We are clearly of the age where cheese boards are a necessity...got a lovely one, will go nicely with the one we got given last year :rotfl:

Did get some lovely gifts though.

Everyone got great gifts this year.
Not a single strange one, makes a difference having an amazon wish list and letting people know.

    Regards
