Regarding the Boots voucher - I have very sensitive skin and allergies to many things, so perfumes etc aren't an option
I did manage to buy some DVDs in there though! Didn't know they sold them, but braved the crowds to see what they had and found a stand near the check out. So it worked out OK in the end. I just hate waste, and buying random stuff just to use a voucher seems wasteful to me.

A handbag butler when I asked for a purse (as mine is held together by duct tape).
For anyone who doesn't know, a handbag butler is a gadget which hangs on a table/desk etc with a hook on it which you hang your bag on....
Lovely whacky gadget, but I need a purse!!LBM July 2006. Debt free 01 Sept 12 .. :T

I have sold several of these in the charity shop I work in and never knew they had a name. The best portion of your life will be the small, nameless moments you spend smiling with someone who matters to you.0 -
I've been very lucky this year & had cash (already spent at the lovely half price money saving sales), chocolates, & loads of my favourite Sanctuary stuff0

A book on how to survive divorce.
I've been divorced for well over twenty years!:rotfl:0 -
My mother-in-law got me in the Secret Santa for the second year running, and her gifts to me were completely off the mark: a necklace of pearls with a huge dangly chunky jade-but-not-jade and silver thing hanging off it and a bracelet to match (I very rarely buy jewellery and all the jewellery I do wear is silver and delicate) and a pair of black leather gloves with different coloured bits between each finger that wouldn't have looked out of place on Cruella de Ville (whilst I've never owned a pair of leather gloves, these would be fine if they didn't have the weird coloured bits!). So whilst not necessarily a bad gift, just really not me!
What almost made it worse is last year she asked what I'd like, I told her - a fancy eyeshadow palette - and got it. So this year I was all set to ask for nice makeup again and then my husband told me she'd already got me something (though apparently he persuaded her not to get me a handbag in the shape of a hedgehog complete with spines). Next year I'm insisting we do lists or at least persuading whoever does the Secret Santa draw to rig it so she doesn't get me again..."A mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone, if it is to keep its edge." - Tyrion LannisterMarried my best friend 1st November 2014Loose = the opposite of tight (eg "These trousers feel a little loose")Lose = the opposite of find/gain (eg "I'm going to lose weight this year")0 -
My O.H has been harping on about having a big torch! I know my mum and dad have one,I bought big a big battery to put in his "new" torch. My O.H got me a 2ft toy E.T.
These both made us giggle and we did get each other decent prezzies also.Life is like a bath, the longer you are in it the more wrinkly you become.0 -
Nothing to bad this year, a few bottles of wine/champagne even though me and my wife are teetotal and have been for many years. Also my Nan w ho is getting on a bit collects ceramic boots and she clearly struggled with presents as we got on of these ornaments that I've seen on her mantlepiece for years now covered in dust!0

As an idea for the future, you could always keep the voucher and either on gift it, or use it to buy someone else's gift for a b'day etc, then use the equivalent money to buy something from somewhere you do shop, or just put the value into savings.Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

Now you know that I have a perfectly beautiful one in pride of place in the spare bedroom cupboard which you could have... no need to complete that purchase!Baldrick, does it have to be this way? Our valued friendship ending with me cutting you up into strips and telling the prince that you walked over a very sharp cattle grid in an extremely heavy hat?0
