Jobs list for the week beginning Sunday February 2nd

THINKING CREATIVELY AND USING WHAT WE HAVE GOT

First of all, basic self-care. Every time I have sat down to eat in the past two days, I have fallen asleep. I am run down or ill (excellent flu and pneumonia jabs do a great job of fending off / minimising symptoms but am not functioning well. Therefore:-

    1) Aim to be in bed by 9pm on three nights and by 10pm on 5 nights. Can read if not tired but not to hash over problems - allowed positive day-dreams (might lead to creative solutions to some problems but if you can't do anything about it, put it to one side for the time being).

    2) Eat - make and eat more soup. Simple warm and comforting + easy way to get more veggies.

    3) Restart food diary - helps to keep on track and deter bad habits. Doesn't need to be posh but write it down.

    4) Walking. Done a lot of purposeful walking this week. Concentrate on making the most of available daylight and enjoying surroundings - birds/trees/signs of spring. Pleasure not an endurance test. Add exercise - 10 minutes of simple stretching.

    JOBS
    5) Clear and clean both couches (stuff starting to build up again). DS1 and girlfriend have found a house to rent and should be moving furniture out on February 15th. Offered them one of the couches for the time being. (Less furniture in my house, the better it will look for potential buyers)

    6) DS1 day off Thursday. Going to attempt to put together large wardrobe (currently stacked inside bed in the attic) . Suggested best place to do this is living room (will be easier to get it out of the front door than trying to get it down stairs after assembly). Need to get front room as clear as possible before Thursday.

    7) Had a good look at the bedding that has been washed (mostly single sheets). One linen sheet has small cuts in it, two sheets have old felt tip marks (permanent markers). Need to work out what to do with them. Linen sheet could possibly be used for clothes (shirt/top) for me for Summer. Will need more cleaning / painting rags soon. I have an old quilt which needs repairing, could use a couple of these (blue/brown?) as a base for patchwork (use up suitable pieces from material stash) then cover quilt and finally quilt stitch it. THIS WEEK - make a start on cutting patches, rip up one or two for rags, bag and label the others when decided what to use them for.

    8) Kitchen bits - all the kitchen units (old and new) are now in use as extra storage inside wardrobes + one for cat litter and food storage. Old white doors (came with ebay units but replaced with full set of doors) look like picture frames - have decided to make a montage of photos of each of my sons + a family one, but this is for later in the year so have packed them in one of the boxes, labelled and stored in the attic. Door handles are suitable replacement for old set of drawers (2 already replaced by 'pebble'-shape ones) so have put them inside the top drawer. Need to decide what is happening with the remaining cupboard doors eg electric meter cupboard currently has a 'slide in from the top board, would one of the leftover doors work better/ does it need an additional piece of wood to take the hinges.

    9) Plant a tree. Done one today. Planted in an old dolly tub (repainted last summer). Polystyrene packaging used at the bottom. Soil from last years grow bags(1m x0.5 m) used to fill it up. Have another bin for the next tree. Several buckets with cracks and potato bags available - need to get all the shrubs and blackcurrant bushes potted up into these - ugly containers will disappear once stuff starts growing. Used cardboard from new kitchen units to cover a raised bed to inhibit weed growth - use rest of them on rest of garden (get the dining room clear).

    10) Dining room cupboard is now half empty- Christmas bulbs were in there and some craft bits. Paper inside was painted 2 years ago but is now yellowing/ brown in places (damp again). Don't want to buy paint yet (used up all the bits we had before Christmas). I have one roll of white paper with large red poppies on it. Hoping to use this on cupboard interior and then some of the craft stuff can come out of the attic - if ti to hand it might get used.

    11) Curtains - start by hand (another sitting down job), boring but soothing and if it's as cold this week as last I can cover myself up with layers of curtains to keep warm (as long as the cat doesn't lie on top of everything).

12)Tools - still out on the dining room table, need to be away but accessible (maybe in the space underneath the large cupboard) - still lots of little bits to do.

ENOUGH - MORE THAN ENOUGH. See you all next week

    Evening everyone :hello:

Well I said I'd be here with my list and here I am....

Clear out emails (currently on maternity leave and my work inbox is heaving)
    Clean oven
    Clean microwave
Meal plan for the week (me and 9 month old)
Move wrapping paper from cupboard to under bed (new ottoman bed with storage underneath)
Move towels to under bed (see above)
    Book GP appt
    Book blood test for baba
    Sort out baba's old clothes
    Declutter my underwear drawer.
Exercise more (take baba for walks, and start my sit up programme. Starting with 10 and increasing by 10 everyday.)
ETA - the main thing I have to do this week is send my driving licence off as it expires this month.

Best stop here, not sure I'll get all of this done this week as it's quite difficult to get stuff done with a 9 month old but I do need to be less lazy, get up earlier and use my evenings productively.

    So here goes. :D

5-Start cutting stuff back in the gravel garden as that is out of control :(same as above
6-Ordered a new steamer (a posh one) So when that arrives spring clean the conservatory as I need one to get in the corners.and I can do the inside of the roof :j- steamers here and I have done a lot with it already Done loads just not quite finished
7-Stay sane if at all possible :DNot possible

Good luck to all and keep chipping away at all those tasks and remember we do never fail we just do as much as we can ;)

    Hi everyone,

Week going well for 10 yr old. Will need to wait until weekend to do the dolls clothes fun bit.

I am doing not too bad but the frog on the list.... Cutlery drawer keeps croaking but has not been done.

However, I know it will not beat me as it is on this very public list!

Enjoy the rest of the week cc

Thanks to mavvymoo for encouraging me to post as I have been really focused to get these things done, which I have been putting off for ages. I just need to make sure I stay on top of normal housework as well as completing my list.

Feeling quite pleased with myself. :D
