Have you tried the Post Office Card Account? Otherwise I suspect there may be something in the manner of your bankruptcy that has given banks' cause for concern.0

Like I've told you before, they do this by making an unrecorded enquiry of your CRA file(s) which will reveal 'public information' such as bankruptcy, CCJs, CIFAS markers, ER status, linked addresses, etc.In the whole of the UK?...or from a quick scan of these boards?
Maybe I haven't kept up, but very recently you said the CRAs had you down as undischarged. But you're now saying that they (all three of them, and despite the Xmas holidays) have you down as discharged?
You seem to have dodged the question above, so here it is again...requiring a simple yes/no reply...
Do Experian, Equifax, and CallCredit all show you as a discharged bankrupt?
And did they at the time of the YBS application/CRA search? The YBS Cash Transactor account is, technically, a basic bank account. I seem to remember that NatWest (or RBS [same group]?) were one of the creditors listed in your bankruptcy? I also seem to remember that your bankruptcy was showing as undischarged when you applied (and were subsequently declined) for their savings account.
It's all a bit cloudy isn't it?
I am definately discharged on my cra files. It may pay to send them discharge papers and didpute it? And maybe do the same with natwest even though i had debt with them when i went bankrupt..0 -

Do you think?? Thats what i was thinking, but other discharged bankrupts have been able to get the same accounts ive applied for. Really dont get it but wish they'd just give me an explanation0 -

You need to put pen to paper and write to them by snail mail.
I forget now...have you already done this?0 -

A POCA is not a current account. It cannot pay DDs or SOs and it cannot accept any credits other than government benefits.urs sinserly,

I have spoken to yorkshire buildings society and they said i have to send my original passport and not a photocopy.
Well, they could have said that in the letter they sent back, not just a letter saying 'sorry we're unable to process your application'
Bit risky sending passport really, as for other accounts they do accept photocopies.0 -
You'd be mental sending them (or anyone) your passport.
Is there no branch near you?
Though tbh, I think you were told porkies. Their ID requirements doc says "please do not send originals". http://www.ybs.co.uk/pdf/savings/verifying-your-identity.pdf. It's sort of implied they would like to see certified copies though.
Post Office will certify copies for a small fee.0 -
I sent a photocopy of my passport lol!!
And i know it said on my letter dont send originals, plus the address letters confirmation was fine and they said it wasn't. Theyre being really difficult and i dont know why, maybe because they cheque wasnt in my name they dont trust me??
And my nearest branch is 50 miles away :-s0 -

Pity they don't accept copies certified by the Post Office.
"We accept copies of documents certified by solicitors, accountants or bank/building society staff.".
Good luck getting a bank to certify a document so you can open an account with a competitor, so I guess that limits you to solicitors and accountants. They are not going to be cheap.0 -
You most recent post confuses things again.
A photocopy isn't a certified copy. You should send them a certified copy.
This bit makes no sense:bradztheman wrote: »plus the address letters confirmation was fine and they said it wasn't.
This bit suggests they have asked for a cheque for an initial deposit?bradztheman wrote: »maybe because they cheque wasnt in my name they dont trust me??0
