Declined for YBS Cash Transactor Account!!

Gets better and better.
So i am a discharged bankrupt, but this really shouldnt matter when it comes to opening up a savings account as they 'apparently' only do an identity check, and NOT a credit check!

So how does that explain the fact i sent them all forms of id required, plus the £100 cheque, i then received a letter back saying

THANK YOU FOR SENDING AN APPLICATION FORM FOR OUR CASH TRANSACTOR CARD ACCOUNT

UNFORTUNATELY WE ARE UNABLE TO PROCESS WITH OPENING AN ACCOUNT FOR YOU

PLEASE FIND ENCLOSED YOUR CHEQUE FOR £100 AND THE IDENTIFICATION THAT YOU SENT ALONG WITH YOUR APPLICATION. I HAVE DESTROYED YOUR APPLICATION FORM FOR YOU.

What on earth????

Did you ever do a full check with CIFAS? Rather than just checking what the CRAs say?

It's the only thing I can think of as I believe this is your second decline for a savings account.

Why wont they give me an explanation and what does it mean if there is a cifas marker on there anyway?

Surely my credit report isnt lying when it says there are no cifas markers. And why wont these people give me an explanation why ive been declined???

There are many types of markers: http://www.annualcreditreport.co.uk/help/jargon/cifas-fraud-type.htm

I'm not sure that all CIFAS markers are reported by CRAs. If a co decides it doesn't want to do business with you there's no obligation on them to tell you why, it prevents people from "doctoring" future applications. The link in Grumbler's post above explains this further.

So how long do these markers stay on my report? Thats not fair because ive not commited any kind of fraud!! So its gonna prevent me from getting any kind of bank account or savings account :-s

I would send £10 to CIFAS and request a copy of all information held about you.

Then I would send another £10 cheque to NATIONAL HUNTER, asking the same thing.

It might have nothing to do with you. It could be someone else applying for credit using your details.
