I have managed to make myself a hair-clip - which is really cute, and will perfectly match two dresses that I bought in the sale a few weeks ago... I made it following a suggestion I saw in a craft magazine...

And edited to add I made another, but TBH I needed a bigger overlap, to make it look less floppy...

It was really simple, and has now sparked the craze - I already have another 2 planned. One with cream lace and the red ribbon - which will match the dresses also, and another with turquoise ribbon that isn't as wide....

I'm quite pleased as I have been meaning to have a go at these for a few weeks now...

I still haven't finished the bleeding scarf though - it probably won't be done before the end of the month now - but I quite enjoy doing just a few rows of an evening...

I'm loving all of the projects that people have done, and am just a bit tempted to start collecting the bits for the cross stitch jar labels that have been posted (but I will be strong, as I would have to basically buy them all, as I have never been a cross stitcher, and I am stash busting at the moment - although I do have two jars that were going to be filled with buttons... )

Hope you're all having a lovely weekend, and you're staying out of the rain...

    These are lovely

It is part of the Famous People collection by Cobweb designs - but it is quite old. I was lucky enough to find this kit and the Jane Austen kit in our local charity shop at £2.50 per kit. On the bottom of the chart it has copyright by Sally Scott Aiton January 1998.

    What great bargains :money:

its basically a glass jar you put all your snippings in when you've finished stitching. ive never done one before but thought it would be interesting to see how much i get over the year and how the colours blend/contrast together. just need to hope the rest of the family dont think its just another small rubbish receptacle and start filling it with their junk as well;)
The links were really interesting and I was thinking of starting one but then decided it doesn't really fit with my de cluttering mission :D. I have a bin next to where I stitch so ends of thread ago straight in there anyway. I do use glass jars to store crafty bits and bobs. Not only do they look nice but it's easy to see what's in there. Will look forward to seeing yours grow

Nimbo - I like your hair slides but I have no one to make them for so luckily not one to add to my ever growing list of things I'd like to make :)

Coxy - love the Stocking kit. I think the good things about kits like this is that you can aim to complete a whole stocking in a certain time and it spurs you on.

MrsMP - looking forward to seeing the progress on your jar.

Florence - your dog beds are rally nice and so MSE too. Pray tell what are your plans for your scraps of thread????

Apologies for the long post. I've updated my list of projects. Have amended number 6 and added 9-13. Have now finished 2 out of 14, not bad going for me plus one has been hanging round for about 18 years so chuffed with finishing the butterflies.

    1. Finish hardanger SAL from Mable Figworthy – I started this last year but couldn’t master the cut out stitches so gave up. I have decided to give this another go but to improvise and do a “filler stitch” instead of the cut out.
    2. Try to finish A - Z Nativity cross. Have only put try to finish as I started this and wasn’t happy with how it was stitching up and as it’s on 18 count I am struggling with it. Will see how it goes.
    3. Finish quilt for bed - large project and first quilt I've done. Majority of squares have been completed but need to sew the squares together and actually make into quilt.
    4. Finish Rock, Paper, Scissors, Spoke, Lizard cross stitch. I’m about half way through this one and this is the one I’d like to get finished first. Finished and son loves it so result!
    5. Stitch Pairs or Spoils Tree cross stitch. Haven’t decided which one yet, will amend list once I’ve decided which to do.
    6. Knit waistcoat with wool I’ve had for almost 12 months – finished knitting but need to sew it up. Decided that I don’t like this so changing this one to unpick waistcoat and knit 3 snoods as Christmas presents
    7. Sew up the two jumpers (not including the waistcoat above) that I have had knitted for 12 months.
    8. Knit 3 pairs of adult bootees (slipper sock sort of thing), to be used for Christmas presents.
    9. Finish pair of knitted socks. I have one finished at the moment.
    10. Finish butterfly mobile made from mini hama beads. Started this in 1996. Finished and framed
    11. Cross Stitch Henry VIII and his Wives. This was a kit my Mum bought about 12 years ago. Since my Mum died suddenly (she was the same as we all are – had many craft items on the go) 8 years ago I have tried to finished a piece of cross stitch that she started. I have finished everything that she started that I managed to find charts for so I’m now looking at stitching some of the kits she had in her stash. I have stitched Henry VIII and will post update picture tomorrow.
    12. Finish knitted scarf – I’m about half way through this one but have fallen out of love with it.
    13. Make a new cover for the sofa bed which is in my craft room (spare room). I fell in love with a “patchwork” chair but can’t afford it nor do I have space for it. Hubby suggested making a cover for the sofa bed in the same style. Hopefully this should use up some of my stash of material.
    14. Learn to crochet

Here's what the chair was like:12158721704_163b01d638.jpg

And here's a picture of the finished butterflies. I took the advice of FOS and framed some and left some free floating. 12157916093_c7a989c4c0_n.jpg

Sorry about graininess of the photo. Off now to do some stitching whilst watching Call the Midwife.

0 - Tidy the craft room The room is clear (ish)

1- a scarf for my sister - this is filled with dropped stitches (and ones picked up from nowhere!!), after speaking with my mother she had told me how I've picked up stitches - knitted through the same stitch, not knocked it off, and then gone again...

2- a scarf kit that my sil bought for me for Christmas... not started, but I will do as soon as I have finished item 1. hmmmm, well yes.

3- A valentines card for my OH... Anniversary card sorted, valentines card also sorted...

4- an advent calender, I plan to make and decorate pockets in leather as I have masses cluttering up the spare room. for this any ideas or inspiration welcome, as I only have 6 ideas so far, and need 24... WIP - won't be making 24 pockets as I won't have the space to display, have made 5, and will be doing eight in all, and will dangle prezzies between them, in Christmas wrapping... Done another this morning, so will photo later, still two more to go, and I have ideas for both, and will crack on later.

5- mini Christmas cross stitch finished, and used in the advent calender...

6- make a skirt - I have the pattern, the fabric, and even a new sewing machine... this WILL get done soon. I have never followed a pattern to make an item of clothing, so this is deliberately an easy pattern from 'sewaholic' which will hopefully go well...

7- make a dress - as above really

8- need to make a pouch for my partners fishing knife, which he got for christmas - pattern drawn, will hopefully get to this some time soon...

9- trousers, for which my partner is going to get me the pattern for my anniversary prezzie... I can't wait. haha

    10- pincushion - made a photographed

11- a bird shaped pincushion - I have started the cutting, but need to get a wriggle on, as it looks like it will be a fiddly one... Yeah thi one has come to a complete stop as I have lost it!!!

12- A new purse - as mine has a dodgy zipper... sorted, and pics uploaded...

13- Add a load of charms to a bracelet, I have been meaning to do this for over a year, - they are things that have sentimental value, and include a few odd earring that were just too nice to throw away, and I have finally gotten round to it...

14- make a pendent out of the end of a fish slice... (I have a few fork bracelets, and this would kind of match the theme). I have cut it, but need to sand and shape the end, and then drill for the cord... finished, and photographed...

15 - make some hair bows, an idea I got from a crafty mag... All done...

I'm getting there, slowly but surely... I'll upload pictures later as I need to get some charge on the camera...

I'm loving this thread as it's keeping me focussed on getting some craft things used up, and some of my 'to do' list finished... I just need to find a way to get my HUGE stash of leather sewn up into something, and out of the house... haha
