Today I am going to try and sew some dog beds.
Been in the loft - found a single duvet to cut up and got a fleece + baby blanket to recycle. :money:
I also want to make one more fabric drawstring bag for storage in my new craft room. The 5 drawstring bags I have already made are full of yarn.
I still have a small bedroom full of stash to sort through!
I will update my 14 in 2014 aims list soon - been thinking of more projects.

weve just been 'talking' about this on the cross stitch cafe, it seems l.o.v.e now really is considered by mse to be a four letter word.
cant understand why but it suddenly looks like weve all got tourettes when you back read and see all the !!!!'s

Love (or should I say !!!! As I thjnk issue is fixed now) the comment re tourettes. No stitching today but have managed a butterfly during my lunchtime - have worked from home so everything to hand.

Hopefully will be able to update my list later when hubby gets back from working away.

  • Thank you for all the lovely comments about my ABC piece and I didn't think anyone was swearing at me :)

nimbo how clever to make a leather purse - it looks very professional

florenceem am now completely green with envy about your craft room :)

ailsb Henry looks fab already. Thank you for the virtual tour - though I kept wondering exactly what was in the various storage boxes :D

mrsmp love your stories and how your teachers still keep a watching eye on you Would a shoe box be suitable storage for your stocking? It does need some protection so that your hard work isn't damaged

dibuzz ambitious list 100 hats:eek: What an achievement that will be

Was too tired when I finally got home last night to do anything on Stitching Row as I know the frog comes to visit when I try to stitch when tired. Hope to make some progress tonight

nimbo - your purse is great. Is it hard to stitch leather? Your other makes are really good too. Can't wait to see your finished Advent Calendar.

It can be hard - depends on the leather (obviously the thick stuff is really hard, but also the super skinny nappa can be a real pain)... I have sewn it with a 'standard' machine, but not only can it break the needles that bit esier, it does snao the internal 'bits' of the machine. I have an old semi industrial Singer that I use...

I'm not a perfectionist, definitely a down and dirty self taught machinist... (I would not be living off piece work wages), but I do get it done (often with wonky bits)... haha

I have got no projects finished tonight, but I do intend to get a few rows knitted. It sounds like everyone has been busy.

    Stashbuster - 2014 98/100 - 2015 175/200 - 2016 501 / 500 2017 - 200 / 500 2018 3 / 500

oh been there done that, and if you get it wrong you really suffer. the nicest group of girls i worked with was at the hosiery factory i started at. if you made a major boob and got loads returned to you all the girls in your area would just change the colour on their machines to whatever you'd had returned and shout out how many theyd take and all muck in so everyone just lost a bit of time instead of one person loosing a morning.:T

I'm a self taught person on the machine but do tend to be a perfectionist. Have only hand sewn leather that was pre-punched for sewing.

I've finished the butterflies just need to make them up into a mobile now. Bit of background on them. I started them when I found out my IVF had worked but when I lost the baby I put them away. I've tried to finish them several times over the last 17 years but without success. Thanks to this thread they are now finished :).

    Picture in next post.

Hubby has suggested framing them rather than making them into a mobile. All thoughts gratefully received. They are made from micro hama beads and have been a pain in the proverbial to make. They are approximately 2 inch square at the largest.

  • Ailsb your butterflies look stunning. When you say mobile do you mean hanging like a wind chime kind of thing? If so, I really like that idea.

Thanks to all for the kind comments on my baby hat :-)

I'm so impressed with all your work so far and am so glad I joined in with this group, what lovely ladies you all are (and gents where appropriate!)

I'm a quarter way through a pram blanket for my niece's baby girl who is due in a week. Can I finish it in time, I'm not so sure but I don't suppose there's any major rush, she's already got other lovely blankets to choose from. I'll post my finished project when it is complete :)

Hello everyone - may I join you? I can see it is just my type of thread. My goals so far are :-
    1. Crochet a bag for my Mum's birthday in March
    2. Complete WIP - cross stitch Literary sampler
    3. Complete WIP - cross stitch Bronte sampler
    4. Complete WIP - cross stitch Jane Austen sampler
    5. Make 'something' using the 12 Lizzie Kate months of the Year cross stitch squares I finished last year
    6. Make new quilt using the gorgeous fat quarters I received at Christmas
    7. Decoupage the wooden frame for the sea grass basket unit in new porch
    8. Make padded seat cushion for shoe rack in new porch
    9. Pretty up boring plain fabric boxes housing hats and gloves in new porch
    10. Have a go at making myself an article of clothing (never done this)
    11. Complete WIP - crochet granny square blanket
    12. Sew / knit / crochet (not sure which yet) 2 new cushions for living room sofa
    13. Make bags for my 2 daughters and granddaughter for Christmas (make them one each every year)
    14. [STRIKE]Complete WIP - crochet hanging flower decoration[/STRIKE] DONE
    15. Crack on (I won't finish this in 2014 as it is a huge on going project) with my 6 blackwork pieces of 6 wives of Henry VIII. 2 already completed, and am about half way through number 3, but they are all A4 size so not quick to finish and I can only do blackwork for a short amount of time before I start getting cross eyed :rotfl:
As you can see I have a LOT of projects already on the boil, so am hoping the discipline of joining you will keep me focused.

I joined a stitching group last year that meets once a fortnight, and that along with now having turned DD2 old bedroom into my craft room when she left home last October, has made a huge difference to my productivity. For a start it helps having all my various craft items in one room and not having to hide them all over the house (though it was truly shocking to see how much I did have when it was all in one place  )

Off to finish reading the thread - only got up to page 3 before typing this so lots still to read.

taurusgb, i love your list, im a fan of lizzie kate style and stitched a few of the 'free' charts from that site. intrigued by the blackwork Henry VIII and wives, cant wait to see phtos of those. i think blackwork looks stunning, i did a piece years ago a group of hot air balloons all different sizes in different blackwork patterns

Ailsb, i love your butterflies they will make a stunning mobile but i can understand where your dh is coming from about framing them it would protect them from the risk of damage and also stop them getting dusty. how about some kind of deep box frame where some still have the ability to flutter i.e fix some to the back and have some wired to dangle free in the frame?
