Crazy JSA Sanction

I'm willing to bet that if you picked any jobcentre at random from across the country, stood outside and did a straw poll of claimants going in and out, you would be hard pressed to find anyone with anything positive to say.
You'd lose the bet. The surveys - including independent mystery shopper ones - say something very different.
And this is even though people are attending a job centre because there is some problem - either with their benefits or the fact of unemployment. You'd expect some negativity in this regard wouldn't you?
It's a bit like accosting people on their way out of a cemetery and then gauging their happiness.
I suspect if you stood outside any business and did something similar you'd get a mix of indifference and negativity. That wouldn't mean that most people weren't happy in their experiences. So because satisfied claimants don't generally give feedback then it follows that satisfied claimants are the majority? I know a few people that are claiming JSA, none of them have anything positive to say about the system.
Incidentally, another forum I'm on (non benefit related) occasionally throws up benefit questions. Responses indicate surprise because so many people have really positive experiences themselves. I wouldn't be daft enough to decide that meant everything was wonderful in the system.0 -

Bloke on another forum threatened with sanction for wearing t-shirts saying 'Nobody knows I'm gay' when signing on. He added that he had been repeatedly warned by JCP staff that his t-shirts were not appropriate attire for job interviews. The fact that signing on, or job searching aren't interviews seems to have eluded JCP staff.
Ok, so he could in theory be sent to a job straight from the job centre, highly unlikely though.
Claimants turn up in 'onesies' and Ugg boots looking like they have just got out of bed, they aren't required to conform to a dress code, why should this chap be treated differently?0 -

Horrific ! Clearly very disturbed people. I'm pleased that the law dealt with them appropriately. No one working at the JC should have to accept this level of abuse. What a vile bunch detestable people you are, talk amongst yourselves ladies, impress each other and your imagined audience to your hearts content, the real world may come knocking sometime soon.
I get the impression you think abusive behaviour is justifiable....

Maybe someone felt that the 't' shirt slogan was inappropriate...
I find some slogans on 't'shirts offensive.
As for the 'just got out of bed look'...do you know for sure that they had not been advised about their attire..

It won't be long before the old bandit screens are back in Jobcentres, and the security staff issued stab jackets.
Desperate people resort to desperate measures, perhaps the government should look at cause and effect.
Sanctions can and often do have a devastating effect on peoples lives, it's no surprise to me that some can't contain their anger.0 -

I do have to say, that you have to be a 'certain' type of person to do something like those in the articles you posted. If I got my money taken away, yes I would be desperate, I might even cause a scene at the JC but that scene would involve me crying and asking what am I suppose to do. I certainty WOULD NOT harm anyone due to it (even if I did believe they were the reason). Are you seriously saying these people were in the right to harm another person due to this?0 -

Did he (or she) really say that? Using people's gender to discredit what they're saying. Wow.
That's pretty low.

Err, you are getting me confused with the person that posted the articles.0
