Tesco CC & petrol points

Options
I wondered if anyone else had noticed this-

I have a Tesco CC which, ever since they halved the points they give on fuel, has served to retain the 1 point per £1 fuel thing, no matter what card is used to pay.

I have just noticed that now, whether I use the Tesco CC to pay or another, I now only get 1 point per £2, despite using the Tesco CC as a clubcard.

I don't remember seeing anything about this change! Have I missed something? I, and my OH, use a fair amount of petrol each month, so this has been a nice little boost each month :o

i was of the understanding that 1ccp for every £2 spent on fuel was standard, nowadays
  • I noticed that they decreased it too :-(

Indeed, using a standard clubcard, but when the chopped it, the earning rate was still 1/1 if you paid using a Tesco CC, with a long running loophole being that you only needed to use the Tesco CC as a clubcard, you could pay with something else and still get the enhanced rate, thereby double dipping!

Ah not just me then! Sucks! Very quietly introduced change, I've seen nothing from tesco or on any forums!

This is a strange one, to say the least.

I last used my Tesco credit card at a Pay@Pump facility in late November and received 1 point for every litre purchased and then 1 point for every £4 on top of it.

I haven't tried just using my credit card as my Clubcard and then using another method of payment; I *believe* they changed the rule from 1 point to 1 litre to 1 point per £2 when they scrapped the double Clubcard scheme a couple of years back.
It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.
  • Are you sure it's ended I just checked my club card statement and on the 1st December I received 57 points for my £57.53 spend on petrol and paid on my Luma cashback card

Tesco clubard points are awarded at the rate of 1 point for every £1 spent instore or online at Tesco.
For Tesco fuel, you are awarded 1 point for every £2 spent.

When you use your Tesco credit card, you are awarded points at the rate of 1 point for every £4 spent, wherever it is spent.

You can link your tesco credit card account to your clubcard account (meaning you don't need to present both cards when purchasing at Tesco)

The award of points is accumulative if you have linked the accounts or present both cards.

i.e. if you buy £4 of goods instore or online using your credit card, you can earn a total of 5 points (1 point for each £1 as a clubcard account holder plus 1 point for £4 spent on a credit card)

Likewise for fuel, you can earn a total 3 points for £4 spent.(1 point for each £2 as a clubcard account holder and 1 point for £4 spent on the credit card)

Your statement will detail the points separately even if you have joined the clubcard account to the credit card account.
i.e. clubcard earned points and TPF (Tesco Personal Finance) earned points.

You cannot combine the points to earn vouchers.
i.e. you effectively have 2 accounts (even if all on the same statement) that earns you points and each will be assessed individually as to whether or not clubcard vouchers are due.

Maybe they had a double points promotion on when you purchased the fuel? Or maybe you had a voucher that gave double points (although I've not seen one of those for fuel)?

But normally you only get 1 clubcard point for every £2 worth of Tesco fuel purchased (not using a Tesco credit card)

  • I use pay at pump, Tesco credit card in first for club card points, but when I get the message asking if I wanted to pay with that card I selected no then paid for my 4% cash back card.
