For clarity, let's forget the 1 point per £4 of spend. That's unaffected.

A normal Clubcard pays 1 point for each £2 of fuel.

If, however, you use your Tesco credit card as the Clubcard for a fuel purchase, even when paying with a different card or cash, they've been rewarding it at a rate of 1 point per £1.

If this has changed I'm not aware that I've been notified. As it's a detrimental change to my credit card account I believe they should give me two months notice in writing.

As such, if they have made a change (which appears to be open to some debate), I believe they have acted illegally under the Payment Services Regulations.

This is a strange one, to say the least.

I last used my Tesco credit card at a Pay@Pump facility in late November and received 1 point for every litre purchased and then 1 point for every £4 on top of it.

I haven't tried just using my credit card as my Clubcard and then using another method of payment; I *believe* they changed the rule from 1 point to 1 litre to 1 point per £2 when they scrapped the double Clubcard scheme a couple of years back.

You might want to double check that as I don't believe Tesco have ever awarded Tesco Clubcard points based on the amount of litres purchased. I think it always has been based on the amount of £ spent.

Iirc, when you use a Tesco credit card linked to a clubcard account at a Tesco Pay@Pump, it first takes the credit card as your clubcard and then spits it out. Then it ask you in insert a payment card which may or may not be the same card.

I say iirc, as it's a long time since I've bought any Tesco fuel. It's always cheaper at our local Asda and sometimes at Sainsbury's too. I even often see it cheaper at the Esso station right next door! (I think they even offer clubcard points now, but no Pay@Pump there)

Like you, I also use a cashback credit card.

No you have linked your clubcard to your credit card account, but both schemes have their own rules.

Changes to your clubcard do not affect changes to your credit card agreement, so nothing illegal there. :)

You may have cause for complaint about adverse changes to your clubcrad account if that is the case and you were not notified, but I don't think they've done anything illegal.

I last filled up at Tesco a couple of weeks ago and got 2 Clubcard points per £1 (Momentum 99 earns double points) by using my Tesco CC as a Clubcard and paying with a different card.

It's a shame if they have ended this, I'll have to test it when I next get fuel. If it has finished I have no reason to keep my Tesco CC any more!

It looks like a heck of a lot of you MSE'ers haven't bought any fuel from Tesco for almost as long as me.

Tesco halved their clubcard points awarded on fuel (ignoring any TPF points) over 2.5 years ago!

As you didn't pay using the Tesco card anyway, I agree there is no reason for you to have it. ;)

You can always use a simple clubcard.

But the change didn't apply when you used your Tesco credit card as the Clubcard.

Seems like you don't want to believe that though.

    You're confusing the two again.

There are two accounts. Your clubcard account and your TPF account. There always have been the 2 accounts, each of which earned you clubcard points

... and it's been many, many years that Tesco stopped adding the points into one total sum that they would exchange for clubcard vouchers

We may be at crossed purposes. But I'm not sure I can identify where.

If you're trying to tell me that I've not been receiving 1 point per £1 spent on fuel when presenting my Tesco credit card as the Clubcard in the last few months then you're incorrect.

One poster has made 7 out of 20 contributions in this thread so far, generally quite wrong, and has apparently failed to understand the contributions of others.

My experience - and unlike that poster I have regularly bought Tesco fuel - is the same as the OP and several others. Using my Tesco MC as a Clubcard produces 1 point per pound. Then using another card to pay produces benefits on that card, whether points, Avios, cashback or whatever.

The OP reports an apparent change of Tesco poilicy which, if confirmed, would be bad news and failure of Tesco to advise a change in T+Cs.
