Am I right in thinking if I appeal within 14 days and lose then I pay the 60 fine rather than the reduced 30. If so it doesnt seem very fair
There are 3 pictures on the form. 1st is my licence plate but the rest of the picture is completely dark. Does this matter?
Think its harsh. When your driving in a big city your unfamiliar with then its not difficult to stray into the wrong lane

Council PCN? If yes then you're probably best taking it over to the Pepipoo forum.
Bottom line - appeal and lose (and you probably will) then it goes to £60. Go to the next level of appeal and lose (you might) it stays at £60. Go to adjudication (where most people win) and still lose it stays at £60.
So the choice is yours ... let them mug you for £30, or fight it and pay no more than £60 and quite probably £0.0 -

Pepipoo is the place for you. http://forums.pepipoo.com/index.php?showforum=30
Is the lane not bound by a solid white line?0 -
Many councils have a policy of freezing the "reduced offer for settlement" when you appeal - should you lose you then have x number of days to pay.
You should check out your own council's policy regarding this as they do vary and yes as the others have said take it to Pepipoo.0 -
I would pay it. In my view if you drive in a bus lane unless you can demonstrate it is not clearly marked or signed posted. Then you are not observing the road properly when driving. The most wasted day is one in which we have not laughed.0

ooooooh mystery woman10, you clearly haven't discovered the wisdom that is pepipoo forum yet!
Almost every Council PCN is wrongly pursued in some way (lines, signs, wording on Notice, camera enforcement, Traffic Order omissions, you name it, Councils do it wrong). So a motorist's minor error is no worse...hence why pepipoo get almost everyone off any Council PCN.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

yes but that doesn't mean to say I have to agree with it!
I believe there is a massive difference between the public roads and private land owners.
Because fighting the Council costs us all money. Which could be better spent elsewhere.
I will be very un-pepipoo
And Birmingham is very strapped for cash!! it's the biggest local authority in Europe and horrendous traffic problems, they need the money! The most wasted day is one in which we have not laughed.0 -
Brum is horrendous, full stop, IMHO. It's ugly and the roads are ridiculous, dirty, busy and I hated it more than any other City I have ever visited! Soooo glad neither of my two eldest kids who are at Uni, chose Birmingham!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

thanks - can i ask why most people win at adjudication ?0 -
Because it's a fact that most PCNs/signs/lines/procedures followed during the appeals process, by a Council, are flawed at the outset or mucked up along the way. It's just people don't realise that the fact they get an initial knock-back on headed notepaper from a Council means diddly squat, and the fact is they would most likely win at adjudication. Reading a full page or two of pepipoo Council ticket threads will enlighten you!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
